Chapter 96: Unshaken Suspicions

"If you insist on using your demonic innate arts on me, I will be forced to retaliate," said Myles with a solemn expression.

The knight captain of the Brand Templar flew into rage. He pointed at Myles and trembled, unable to utter the correct words to argue with him.

Myles had the right to retaliate indeed. Although the knight captain of the Brand Templar was confident he could easily subdue Myles, it wouldn’t mean the Commander of the Blood Knights would not interfere. After all, their duel was not registered.

The knight captain of the Brand Templar didn’t know what to do now. The plan was to use the Commander Brand on Myles for many reasons.

They wanted to expose him, but if he was innocent, then, the brand templar acquired a blood knight slave. They really didn’t lose by executing their plans.

However, they did not expect for Myles to be sly. He instantly retaliated with a reason to the point that they could not pursue their plans anymore. In the end, the Brand Templar was actually lost for what to do.

As he was hesitating, the Commander of the Blood Knights stepped forward and said in a grave tone, "Since you are trying to harm my knight, then I have to accompany him in whatever prison you’ll bring him."

"What?! No!" The knight captain of the brand templar instantly rebuked.

The Commander of the Blood Knights immediately replied, "In the first place, if you had not harmed my blood knight in front of me, I wouldn’t have suggested this. I’ll accompany him to where he brings you. If you refuse, I’ll punish you. I have reasons enough to escape from the consequences."

The Brand Templar was shocked. He did not expect the sudden turn off events. Not a single moment followed their plan—almost, if only Myles allowed himself to be struck by the Command Brand.

He gritted his teeth and turned around, saying, "Fine. Follow me."

He didn’t have a choice but to let the Commander of the Blood Knights accompany Myles. He regretted making a move on Myles earlier. If only they were patient enough and only put the Command Brand on him while he was imprisoned, the plan to make Myles obedient to the brand templar wouldn’t have gone awry.

...

The knight captain of the brand templar inevitably let the Commander of the Blood Knights enter their dormitory.

He opened the door and once he was inside, he smiled bitterly at his Commander.

The Commander of the Chain Knights was present as well, accompanied by his knight captain.

The Commanders were confused at first by the knight captain’s reaction once he entered, believing he had failed, but seeing Myles and the Commander of the Blood Knights appear behind him, they had an idea in mind.

He was successful in bringing the suspect here, but it never went as planned.

As soon as the Commander of the Blood Knights saw the two commanders, he tried his best to restrain his anger and walked in front of them.

He stared at the Commander of the Brand Templar and said in a hostile tone, "Your knight captain just tried... no, he harmed my blood knights. I’m pretty sure you instructed him to do it, right?"

The Commander of the Brand Templar was unfazed. He said, "I told him to do it if your blood knight refused to cooperate."

"And my blood knight did not. He was willing to prove himself. Why go to such lengths as to use your demonic innate arts on him? Are you insinuating?"

The Commander of the Brand Templar moved his eyes and glanced passed through the Commander of the Blood Knights until his knight captain.

The knight captain of the Brand Templar lowered his head and sighed.

He gazed at the Commander of the Blood Knights with eyes that went soft.

He said, "Look, perhaps, my knight captain was simply trying to assess if your blood knight has the ability to stop his demonic innate art and turned him to become similar to the Veil Stalker that died earlier.

Because if your blood knight was threatened, he would surely react and expose himself, correct?"

The Commander of the Blood Knights couldn’t restrain his anger anymore.

He barked. "And what if he could not resist? If my blood knight did not sense the danger, he wouldn’t have stopped your knight and become your dog!"

The Commander of the Brand Templar was pleasantly surprised.

Knowing that talking with him wouldn’t be anymore pleasant, he turned towards his knight captain and asked, "How did he stop you?"

"By pulling my hand off away from him. He’s also making a reason I couldn’t retort. I’m telling you Commander, he’s suspicious."

The Commander of the Blood Knights turned around and glared at him.

He was about to say something when Myles’ voice echoed inside the room.

"Let’s reverse our position. If I tried to harm you for the sake of assessing me and you stopped me out of self-defense, would it be acceptable for you to be deemed as more suspicious just because you stopped me from harming you?"

The knight captain of the Brand Templar was taken aback.

He was unable to retort.

Myles continued, "Look, I think everyone is confused, if you keep pointing fingers at me, we really wouldn’t know who is the real culprit."

"But, the evidence we had found pointed to you. So, why should we change our suspicions to others when they have more alibi than you?" The Commander of the Brand Templar sharply spoke.

Myles frowned. He asked, "What is the evidence that pointed towards me?"

The Commander of the Brand Templar shook his head. "You have just proven to us that your tongue is sharp. Just be here with us. It’s fine if your Commander wants to accompany you, too."

Myles asked, "For how long?"

"Until the headmaster returned."

Myles was surprised. He shrugged, acting like he was unbothered. However, inwardly, he was deeply shaken...
