From Runaway Bride to Global Queen-Chapter 21 - The Shameless
Chapter 21: Chapter 21 The Shameless
Qiao Yi sat in the car with a cold expression on her face.
Qiao Benqing had already replied to her. He was driven mad by Qiao Xin’s unauthorized actions and told Qiao Yi to keep an eye on Qiao Xin and not to let slip a single word about the matter.
Qiao Yi informed Qiao Benqing that Lu Yanchuan had long calculated that the Qiao Family would give up on this project. It took a while before Qiao Benqing replied, giving Qiao Yi the go-ahead to seek Lu Yanchuan’s help.
She originally thought this was just a simple development project, but she hadn’t expected it to involve so many other issues.
After suffering a headache for a while, Qiao Yi put the matter aside. After all, her dad was still bearing the burden in the company, so there was no way it would trouble her.
Lu Yanchuan watched the changes in Qiao Yi’s emotions and found it amusing. Such a significant matter was at hand, and yet this young lady seemed to be completely carefree.
...
Qiao Yi leaned back and soon fell asleep, possibly because the weather was too hot, as she had been feeling sleepy recently.
The car took a turn, and Qiao Yi, unable to keep her balance, fell onto Lu Yanchuan.
Ma Yu’s lips quivered as he was about to apologize, but in the rearview mirror, not only did his boss not seem unhappy, but there also seemed to be a hint of… approval in his eyes?
It must be his eyes playing tricks on him; his boss couldn’t possibly be that kind of person…
Qiao Yi slept till they reached the hotel and groggily returned to her room, where she threw herself onto the bed and continued to sleep.
It seemed like someone was making a phone call in her dream, which woke Qiao Yi up from her sleep.
Rubbing her eyes, Qiao Yi climbed out of bed. It was already dark outside; she had slept for a very long time.
As she regained her clarity, Qiao Yi realized it wasn’t a phone call in her dream, but rather Lu Yanchuan making a call outside her door, which hadn’t been properly closed, allowing her to overhear.
Qiao Yi didn’t want to eavesdrop on Lu Yanchuan’s call, but the content of his conversation made her change her mind, and she sat up on the bed to listen intently.
“Longjia can be ruled out. Contact Tengxin to see if they have any interest in meddling with this project.”
“I know that the project is with the Qiao Family. I’ll communicate with the Qiao Family; you just need to focus on convincing the people from Tengxin. That will be enough.”
“Alright, that’s it.”
Longjia? Tengxin?
Qiao Yi knew of these two companies; they were founded by a pair of brothers specializing in the real estate market. In just ten years, they had firmly established their footing in the industry.
Although they couldn’t compare to the longstanding groups like the Qiao and Lu Families, they were still well-known enterprises domestically.
Was Lu Yanchuan’s target these two companies this time?
Lu Yanchuan hung up the call and heard the mutterings of Qiao Yi from inside the bedroom. The little woman didn’t even know to keep her voice down; Lu Yanchuan didn’t know what to make of it.
“The CEOs of Longjia and Tengxin are biological brothers, and what very few people know is that these two brothers actually belong to Capital City’s Sun Family.”
Qiao Yi was stunned. When had Lu Yanchuan come in? He discovered her eavesdropping!
Lu Yanchuan, seemingly oblivious to Qiao Yi’s shock, turned on the light and found the bid document for Qiao Yi from his briefcase and handed it to her.
“Take a look, I’ve made some modifications.”
Qiao Yi dumbly received the bid document. The parts she hadn’t noticed herself were all pointed out by Lu Yanchuan.
If they went with Lu Yanchuan’s proposed revisions, this bid document would be considered a perfect template for an intentional loss, making it seem like Qiao Family had given its all yet failed, which would be a pity.
“Why don’t you and Dad want this project? I’ve studied the project proposal and didn’t find any problems.”
This was the doubt that had been bothering Qiao Yi. Such a great project was rare in Tian City; why didn’t the Qiao and Lu Families want it?
“Geology. The old seaport in Binhai District is not suitable for constructing a port. The geotechnical conditions within ten kilometers around it are too loose, failing to meet the requirements for building a seaport. To construct a port there, one must artificially change the geology, which would be like pouring money into a bottomless pit.”

Now she understood, everything became clear.
After the Lu Family’s cargo ship capsized, Lu Yanchuan took it upon himself to investigate. Although it seemed that the incident was due to the aging of the port, Lu Yanchuan’s line of inquiry was different, and eventually, he uncovered the hidden issue.
Because the loose sandy layer was buried very deep, the government’s exploration team did not detect this situation and proceeded with planning the tender directly.
Lu Yanchuan could exploit this loophole to set a trap with the project.
“So you plan to use this project to drag the Sun Family down?”
“Mhm.”
Lu Yanchuan’s frankness surprised Qiao Yi. Before she could ask further, she heard Lu Yanchuan continue.
“You can relay what I said verbatim to your father-in-law. The Qiao Family shouldn’t get involved with the project. Look for an excuse to transfer it out as soon as possible. Once construction begins, it will be too late to transfer.”
Qiao Yi nodded her head and quickly took out her phone to send a message to Qiao Benqing.
It wasn’t until after Qiao Yi put down her phone that it occurred to her: Why did Lu Yanchuan take the risk of the news leaking and ask her to pass the message to Qiao Benqing?
Seeing the confusion on Qiao Yi’s face, Lu Yanchuan spoke up proactively.
“I plan to collaborate with your father and take over the old seaport project.”
“But you said the project was a bottomless pit, didn’t you?”
“Of course, it’s not about remaking it but changing the direction to develop a submarine tunnel.”
Qiao Yi finally realized where the difference between herself and Lu Yanchuan lay—it was his audacity!
A good project was in question, and he intended to use it to deceive people, and then reclaim it afterward to work on another project!
Without guessing, it was clear that once Lu Yanchuan’s plan was completed, both the Lu and Qiao families would reap a windfall!
“This matter should be discussed with my dad, not me; it’s useless to tell me. I don’t handle company affairs.”
Qiao Yi briefly became agitated then calmed down. Lu Yanchuan was surprised by Qiao Yi’s composure and found himself somewhat admiring her.
“This cooperation will be credited to you, let’s call it my dowry to you.”
Qiao Yi’s face flushed, she glared at Lu Yanchuan annoyedly, pushed past him, and walked out.
The warmth on Qiao Yi’s face lingered long after she left the room. The more she thought about Lu Yanchuan’s words, the hotter her cheeks felt.
She had said it before; they were only a couple in name! Why does Lu Yanchuan always say these nonsensical things?
Qiao Yi fled in panic, but Lu Yanchuan’s smile faded as he sat on the sofa, lost in thought for a moment before picking up his phone to make a call.
“Hello, Xiyu, it’s me.”
When Qiao Yi arrived at the restaurant and pushed the door to enter, she happened to run into Qiao Xin and Lu Ming, who had just finished dining.
What bad timing!
Qiao Yi wanted to pretend she didn’t see them and walk past the two, but Qiao Xin was unlikely to just let her go. Suddenly stepping forward, she grabbed Qiao Yi’s wrist and dragged her towards a more secluded area.
“Tell me! Was it intentional, what you did at today’s bidding session?”
