Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 410 - 349: He and I Are Both Your Blade
Sang Luo couldn’t convince a man who was only fooling himself, nor could she be bothered to explain further.
Besides, once the fetus developed, the Beast Father would naturally be able to sense whether or not it was his own flesh and blood.
"I’m tired. I need to rest," she sighed.
Biya led her back to her quarters.
He even had someone bring over an entire case of thumb-sized beads.
Under his intense, scorching gaze, she had no choice but to try one.
The bead contained a wealth of energy, similar in function to Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures, and was specially prepared for pregnant females of the Insect Clan.
She didn’t want to be further indebted to Biya, but she couldn’t refuse. She politely ate a few and claimed to be full. After he left, she stored the Energy Pearls in her Qiankun Bag, planning to return them before she left if she got the chance.
She ate a few Spirit Fruits and soon drifted off to sleep.
A childlike voice sounded in her mind again, this time more pitiful and weak than before.
"Mommy, I’m so hungry... *sob*..."
Sang Luo grew anxious. "Sweetheart, what do you want to eat? Mommy will go find it for you!"
’Strange,’ she thought. ’The child only started crying out in hunger after I arrived in the land of the Insect Clan.’
"Mommy, that monster we saw last time... its body contains immense energy. I want to eat it!" The child’s voice suddenly grew spirited.
"You mean the Baru God?"
"Mhm. Mommy, will you take me to find that thing, please?"
"Sweetheart, you can’t just eat whatever you want."
"Don’t worry, Mommy! As long as you can lead me to it, I can devour it!"
The Primordial Demon Bloodline could devour all creation!
When Sang Luo awoke, the sky outside had already begun to darken. She summoned a Servant and asked, "Does Professor Philip Parker have any in-person events scheduled soon?"
’Philip Parker is another lead researcher at the Zone One experimental base. The Baru God was moved, so he should have some information.’
"Professor Philip Parker will be giving a speech at the grand cathedral in Lilalong Port the day after tomorrow. Do you need to prepare anything, miss? I can help," the Servant replied respectfully.
Sang Luo was surprised. ’The experimental base was just bombed, yet the Insect King of Zone One isn’t protecting his remaining key personnel? Instead, he’s letting a lead researcher give a speech in public? Is he truly not afraid of being targeted, or is this deliberate?’
"I was just asking."
"I will prepare some refreshments for you shortly, miss."
"Thank you."
As the Servant was leaving, he ran into Biya and reported their entire conversation.
"She really is persistent."
Biya tossed out the cold remark, then turned and left.
The next day, just as Sang Luo was about to make her move, she received terrible news—a warrant was out for her arrest across the entire Star Vortex Insect Nest!
Number one on the wanted list, number one on the bounty list.
A grand slam!
The moment she stepped out of the Insect King Palace, she would face an endless hunt.
’Didn’t I just sleep for one night? What heinous crime could I have possibly committed?’
She got the video from a Servant, only to discover that "she" had assassinated the lead researcher.
Only a few blurry video clips had been released to the public. After watching them, she went numb. It was her face, no doubt, but the expression in her eyes was completely different.
"She" had deliberately left evidence, raising the gun’s muzzle to the camera, a smirk playing on her lips. From that wicked, arrogant air, Sang Luo knew at once who was impersonating her.
Sang Luo was about to die from anger. That man truly opposed her at every turn.
When she went to ask him for the key, he refused to see her.
He was clearly just trying to stall.
「The final day arrived.」
Sang Luo could wait no longer. That night, she snuck into Biya’s chambers, concealed her presence, cast an Illusion Technique, and prepared to steal the key.
The man on the bed suddenly opened his eyes. "Luoluo, the key isn’t there."
Sang Luo, who was rummaging through his things, froze. She whipped her head around in alarm. The man sat up in bed, one hand on his forehead. His short, silver-gray hair was a mess, and his sleep robe was askew, revealing a firm, porcelain-white chest and collarbone—an alluring sight.
"Anu!" Sang Luo recognized him at once.
A warm smile instantly spread across her face as she hurried to the bed.
Anu pulled her into his arms, his mouth descending in a deep, fervent kiss. He tentatively parted her lips...
A moment later, he finally released her, resting his forehead in the crook of her neck. "It’s so good," he said deeply, "to be able to hold you again."
"I thought I’d never see you again..." Sang Luo’s voice was choked with emotion.
"I was about to disappear for good, but thankfully, I met you, Luoluo." He gently caressed her face, a smile in his eyes.
After meeting her, his love for her had slowly reawakened, allowing him to seize a sliver of control over their body.
"You came looking for this, didn’t you?" Anu opened his palm, revealing the key. He had been carrying it with him all along.
Sang Luo’s lips twitched. ’That guy... he really did guard against me as if I were a thief.’
Anu handed her the key. "There was a tracking sigil on the key. Our location was exposed last time because of it. After Biya got the key back this time, he also found a magnet that can erase the sigil. It won’t put you in danger anymore."
"Thank you, Anu."
"I didn’t do anything. It was Biya who took the key back while you were resting."
Sang Luo pursed her lips. ’They both knew full well it had been a trap, that the Insect King of Zone One had set an ambush in advance... The reason he’d refused to see her these past two days was because Biya must have been healing from his injuries, which gave Anu the chance to take control.’
Anu cupped Sang Luo’s face and lowered his head, peppering her lips with soft kisses. "Don’t blame him. He just hasn’t been honest with himself, and he doesn’t want you to leave."
Sang Luo took one of his hands, rubbing her cheek against his palm. "Anu," she said, her voice full of guilt, "I... I can’t stay in the Star Vortex Insect Nest. You know that."
"I know." A resigned smile touched Anu’s lips. "He wants to force you to stay, but I know that what’s most important to you are those children and their Beast Husbands. If things truly reach a point of no return, you’ll be heartbroken, and he will surely regret it... There are some things that only I can do."
"Anu, you’re so good." Sang Luo gazed into his golden pupils and said slowly, "I love you."
Anu pulled her tightly into his arms, unwilling to let her see his reddening eyes or the tears on his face. "I know."
"If you’re in danger, remember to pierce the sigil. Summon Anubia."
"Whether it’s me or him, we are both willing to be a blade in your hand."
...
The next morning, Biya awoke with a splitting headache. He could no longer sense Sang Luo’s presence within the Insect King Palace.
She was gone.
Gone without so much as a goodbye.
The key was gone, too.
He didn’t have to think to know who was responsible.
"Idiot! Once she completes her mission, she’ll leave! You’ll never see her again!" Biya was so furious he became preternaturally calm.
’I’ll go to the Beast World Continent to find her,’ Anu said.
"You’re going to give up everything here for a single female?"
’I was never that fond of power anyway,’ Anu retorted.
"Here in the Star Vortex Insect Nest, she belongs to us. But back on the Beast World Continent, do you really think she’ll still have eyes for you?" Biya sneered. "It’ll be just like before. She’ll be surrounded by admirers, and you... you’ll be completely disposable!"
The other voice was silent for a long time before it replied, resolute, ’No. She said she loves me.’
