Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 414 - 353: Ran Away Again
"We just had a check-up a few days ago. It’s not time for the next prenatal visit yet," Sang Luo mumbled sullenly.
She felt drained of all energy and didn’t want to move an inch.
Biya raised an eyebrow and smiled. "Let’s see how many you’re carrying."
Sang Luo hadn’t yet grasped the deeper meaning of his words. She blinked. "The report said there was only one embryo."
"With all my hard work these past few days, maybe there will be a few more."
Sang Luo jolted, her eyes widening. "Huh? But I’m already pregnant! How could there be more?"
"Doesn’t Luoluo know that we of the Insect Clan usually have multiple births?" His smile was wicked and sated.
Sang Luo suddenly recalled nature documentaries about insects laying eggs. Goosebumps erupted all over her body, and her scalp tingled. She shook her head frantically. "No way! I’d be scared to death if I had to give birth to that many!"
Biya knew what images were flashing through her mind. He quickly took her hand in his and comforted her. "You won’t have that many. The first generations of the Insect Clan chose to have many offspring to expand their territory. But after eons of evolution, our reproduction now favors quality over quantity. The energy is concentrated on the heir with the most outstanding bloodline. Even with multiple births, it’s generally no more than ten."
"Ten! Do you think I’m a pig?!" Sang Luo was so angry she kicked him.
"The rarer the species, the fewer the offspring. Many have only one at a time." Biya caught her delicate, pale foot and gently squeezed her toes. The urge he had just vented surged once more.
Seeing the dark look in his eyes, Sang Luo quickly pulled her foot back and retreated under the covers. "I’m pregnant, and your heat is over," she said in a small voice. "We don’t need to see each other for no reason before I give birth."
"What do you mean? Are you trying to draw a line between us?" Biya’s handsome face darkened instantly.
Sang Luo gave him a confused look. "Don’t you want this child? After I give birth, I won’t pester you anymore. You won’t have to be tied to me because of the child, either. I promised you your freedom, and I will seal the Soul Mark in the future and never use it again."
Biya’s lips tightened. He was speechless for a long moment.
’This damn man is so stubborn,’ Sang Luo thought, exasperated. She decided to provoke him a little more. "After the baby is born, I’ll leave the Star Vortex Insect Nest. If there’s nothing else, I won’t be coming back."
"No!" He stood up, his voice cold and heavy. "I... Aren’t you going to come back to see the children?"
"I can summon my offspring. When I miss the children, I’ll just bring them to the Beast World to play."
"What about besides the children? Isn’t there anyone else you’ll miss?" Biya stared at her intently.
Sang Luo gave a soft, delicate smile, her voice trailing off in a lazy, seductive tone. "’I don’t think... there is~’"
Before she could finish, he seized her by the chin, lowered his head, and captured her in a deep, tangled kiss.
Sang Luo’s eyelashes fluttered. Her hands slowly wrapped around his waist, embracing his broad, strong back.
"Your Majesty, Miss Sang Luo, breakfast has been delivered from the kitchens."
A knock came from the door, interrupting them before things could develop further.
A flash of unfulfilled desire crossed Biya’s gray eyes. He looked down at the woman’s lips, now even redder and fuller from his kisses, and said in a hoarse voice, "Stay."
He said.
"Don’t you dare leave me."
Sang Luo’s heart trembled. She pecked him on the lips again and smiled brightly. "I never said I was leaving you."
Attendants filed in carrying trays of food. It was all her favorite dishes, which Biya had ordered from the kitchen. However, the conditions in the Star Vortex Insect Nest were limited, so the cooking and ingredients couldn’t compare to those in the Beast World. Yet, Sang Luo ate with the gusto of a starving woman, relishing every single bite.
Heaven knew she hadn’t had a proper meal in over a month. Compared to the Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures or Crystal Cores—which were either bland, or sour and hard to swallow, or had a taste that was simply indescribable—fragrant, home-cooked food was the best!
After she finished eating, Biya took Sang Luo for a check-up. He was all smiles after getting the report.
Sang Luo asked him, "How many am I carrying?"
Biya put the report away without showing her, a mischievous smile on his face as he deliberately kept her in suspense. "You’ll find out when you give birth."
Sang Luo couldn’t be bothered with him. ’A few more would be fine. For the same gestation period, having more babies is definitely more efficient than having just one. The feedback I get from my offspring will be greater, too.’
「Several months passed in a flash.」
Sang Luo once again settled into a peaceful routine of nurturing her pregnancy. Her Beast Husbands had all been notified. Knowing she was safe in the Star Vortex Insect Nest put their minds at ease. And she had a new man by her side... Wasn’t life just comfortable for her!
Hmph!
’Fickle little female!’
Sang Luo sneezed several times in a row. ’My handsome Beast Husbands and my children must be thinking of me.’
’After this pregnancy, I’ll take a break and spend some quality time with them.’
Sang Luo finished the entire box of Energy Crystal Balls from before, so Biya brought her many more.
But after eating them, she didn’t feel particularly full.
Several months had passed, yet her belly showed no signs of growing.
The children’s development was too slow.
The more talented and powerful the Beast Husband, the longer the gestation period for their offspring. Sang Luo was starting to get a little frustrated.
Biya thought for a moment, then asked, "Those Planet Crystals from the experimental base are in your hands, right?"
He had visited the base later. The Baru God was gone, and all the good stuff inside had vanished. That kind of greedy handiwork seemed like something she would do.
Sang Luo said righteously, "If those Planet Crystals were left in the lab, someone with ill intentions might have used them to create more of those monsters. It was better for me to take them."
Seeing her cautious expression, as if she were afraid he’d snatch away the treasures she’d found, Biya scoffed. "Resources belong to whoever can get their hands on them. Since you’re the one who got them, they’re yours."
"But you said before that you wanted the Planet Crystals!"
"I don’t need them as much now. You should keep them to nourish my children."
"Can I eat these Planet Crystals directly?"
"Yes, but it’s not normally recommended. Planet Crystals contain an immense amount of energy. Overwhelming your system would be the least of your worries. If the energy exceeds the limit you and the fetuses can handle, it’s highly likely you’ll explode and die."
Biya had been studying the developmental data of the fetuses inside her body during this time, so he had a very clear understanding of her and the children’s condition. "This brood is a bit large, so they require a massive amount of energy that normal sources can’t provide. You can try eating one Planet Energy Crystal. Nothing bad will happen."
Hearing him say that, Sang Luo felt relieved and consumed one Planet Energy Crystal.
The kick was immense.
She fell into a deep sleep that lasted a full half-month.
When she woke up, her belly was noticeably larger. Years had been shaved off her pregnancy term!
Sang Luo controlled her intake, consuming one Energy Crystal per month. Within half a year, her belly swelled up like a balloon... They would be born in another two or three months.
「One day,」 a sharp pain suddenly shot through Sang Luo’s heart.
’Minos!’
’He’s in trouble?!!’
"Luoluo." Biya entered with a freshly brewed bowl of fetus-preserving medicine, only to find the bed empty. She was gone.
CRASH!
The bowl and the medicine within it shattered on the floor.
