Gamers Are Fierce-Chapter 760 - 758: Figurines
The game store featured a physical marketplace with shelves, but it also allowed players to access the store and auction house online to browse and purchase goods sold by other players.
Li Ang stood by the shelves, perusing the list.
"Code: Moonlight"—a Longsword. Special Effect: Slashes out an air blade, allowing the wielder to step on it and fly.
"URBN Judgment Axe"—a two-handed axe. Capable of firing plasma cannonballs after a period of continuous attacks.
"Rock Breaker Great Sword"—a two-handed greatsword. Able to split the ground.
"Cross of the Eagle"—Inherently possesses magic disruption. Deals extra damage to negative energy beings in close combat.
"Ink Stain Pool"—a Skill Scroll. Effect: Makes the user appear as a walking piece of colorful graffiti to others.
"Summoning Spell: Knocking Beast"—a Skill Scroll. Summons a docile but extremely powerful, white-furred, single-horned Knocking Beast.
...
They're all pretty useful, Li Ang thought, looking at the extensive list of goods and smacking his lips. It's just that none of them are quite right for me...
What he needed most at the moment were twofold: first, equipment to solve the problem of managing his insect swarm, and second, long-range attack methods. The long-range attacks had to be on the level of beams fired by the Catastrophe Mechanical Golem.
After all, Li Ang's physical strength far surpassed that of other players at the same level. His extremely high strength and agility, combined with the Ripple Breathing Method and the magic-disrupting effects of Divine Power, meant that getting up close and landing a punch could inflict massive damage. If his long-range attacks were too weak, he might as well just run over and land a heavy punch himself.
Actually, the best approach would be to learn a dedicated power system, Li Ang muttered to himself. A power system isn't just about the Energy itself but also the advanced techniques for using that Energy, like the Nen abilities mastered by Bai Haozheng. Despite occupying only one skill slot, it was capable of achieving Scout, stealth, defense, and burst effects through advanced techniques like Ten, In, Gyo, En, and Ken. This was equivalent to having several extra skills that didn't occupy slots and weren't restricted by the System's cooldown times. It was extremely cost-effective.
Li Ang possessed only three abilities that could be classified as power systems: the Ripple Breathing Method, Alchemy, and Swamp God Power.
Ripple Energy was moderate and harmonious. It significantly enhanced the body and had a bonus damaging effect on negative energy beings, making it very suitable for getting through the early stages. However, Li Ang only possessed the "Ripple Breathing Method" skill, which lacked synergistic effects. Furthermore, Ripple itself was not adept at external Energy projection. It was difficult to achieve the same explosive results as other power systems, which could unleash soaring lightning and flames, crumble mountains, and split the earth. As the game progressed to the mid and late stages, where High-level Players were capable of demolishing buildings, Ripple Energy struggled to make a decisive impact.
As for Alchemy, its principle of equivalent exchange made it a versatile, logistics-oriented power system. As long as there were enough diverse materials, anything could be alchemized, greatly enhancing a player's adaptability. Basic Alchemy could produce cold weapons comparable to those from a modern industrial level. Intermediate Alchemy could go a step further, capable of leveling mountains, diverting rivers, and rapidly altering small-scale terrain. If one could press a hand bearing an Alchemy Array onto an opponent, the alchemic formation could be instantaneously activated, causing the opponent's body to disintegrate... Yet, in terms of raw killing efficiency, it still couldn't compare to other power systems.
Finally, there was his Swamp God Power...
Li Ang rubbed the beard of the Dragon Head Mask. The path to advancing his Divine Power, however, was shrouded in uncertainty. He had consulted many occult materials and had spent some money acquiring a large collection of Secret Society Books. These books were mostly authored by medieval mysterious scholars and later annotated by modern ones. According to the dubious claims within them, there were several ways a Demigod could be born.
First, a Deity and a mortal could mate and produce offspring, like Hercules.
Second, a Deity could bestow Divine Power, directly aiding a mortal in becoming a Demigod.
Third, mortal Heroes, upon achieving epic deeds and receiving acknowledgment from both the people and the world, could see their legends become immortal.
Fourth, divine beings (including monsters, demons, sacred beasts, and local primitive totem Deities) could occupy a territory, gather a group of devout followers, and slowly accumulate essence from scratch. Eventually, they would become sapient and rational, attaining Demigod status.
Among these four methods, the first three were temporarily not considered. There were no living Deities in the Mortal Realm at that time; even if there had been, they probably wouldn't have been so generous as to bless Li Ang with their power. The final path to Demigod ascension, however, seemed to align with Li Ang's situation, as he had unexpectedly inherited Divinity from the Primitive Reindeer Deity. Moreover, he possessed reason, land, and believers. All conditions were met, yet there was still no sign of ascension to Demigod status.
Perhaps my accumulated essence is still insufficient? Li Ang silently mused. The Automated Pet Box is ultimately too small; it can't support too many high-quality believers. Maybe 'accumulating essence' here means I need to keep the Divine Mark filled with Divine Power and maintain that state for some time?
Li Ang faintly felt this guess might be correct. The Divine Mark on the back of his hand could store Divine Power, and the more Divine Power it was filled with, the more vivid the vine-shaped mark's color became. Unfortunately, he had been constantly going through scenario quests, facing life-threatening dangers each time, which forced him to deplete his Swamp God Power. He had never managed to fill the mark completely and maintain it for any significant period.
So the problem loops back on itself, huh... Li Ang silently shook his head. To accumulate Divine Power, I need to release the swarm. To release the swarm, I must first amass a large amount of Divine Power to ensure absolute safety. It's a circular conundrum.
Just as Li Ang was vexed by this, his gaze caught a corner of the auction house's product catalog.
"Hmm? What's this?"
He lifted his finger, swiping across the intangible panel in the air to scroll down the product catalog. His gaze finally landed on a large, gray, soft object resembling modeling clay.
