Gamers Are Fierce-Chapter 797 - 795: External Assistance
Li Ang, hovering high in the sky, had already noticed the turmoil below.
From the perspective of the insect swarm he had released, numerous players on the map, without any warning, transformed into Light Giants. These giants stood ten meters tall, radiated brilliant golden light, and pulled the triggers of their weapons, aiming towards the sky.
All sorts of gigantic firearms unleashed a volley of bullets that traced bizarre arcs through the air. These projectiles didn't fly towards Li Ang but rather towards other parts of the map, where they were blocked by 'ordinary' players in various outfits, wielding seven frying pan shields that had risen from the ground.
What kind of maneuver was this?
The rapidly changing situation surprised even Li Ang. Just then, a Light Giant strode through the air towards him. Xing Hechou's voice emanated from its closed mouth, "Brother Li, it's Xing Hechou."
"Brother Xing?" Li Ang raised an eyebrow. "How did you get here?"
"I came to help you," Xing Hechou said hurriedly. "Your opponent this time, FPU, is from Prometheus. He's not strong in one-on-one combat but excels at manipulating the data realm. He can convert his body into data, transforming at will. He can also turn the real world into data, rewriting and distorting the Mortal Realm. The Realms Corridor venue this time suits his abilities. He's currently in Lion City and has already assimilated thirty-eight players from this game, making them into replicas of himself. These replicas are far weaker than the original FPU, but they can use weakened versions of his abilities and also serve to confuse opponents. Our other colleagues from the Special Affairs Bureau have taken control of the local players' computers and activated cheats. They are suppressing players on the map who haven't been assimilated yet but are controlled by Prometheus Laboratory, preventing them from joining FPU. What you need to do now is go straight for the jugular—capture the leader to break their ranks! Destroy FPU's original body! Quick, step on my back."
Recognizing the urgency, Li Ang nodded. "Okay." He immediately stepped onto the Light Giant's back, and they flew off toward Lion City.
As Xing Hechou pressed the run key to continue their flight, he spoke through the public microphone. "This game has been influenced by the mechanics of a 'killing game.' We're unable to read back-end data or end the match. All we can do is modify local data and use some cheats. We're still bound by the game's inherent framework. For instance, even after activating cheats, the maximum single-bullet damage is only 330, identical to the damage of the .300 Magnum rounds used by the AWM in the standard game. In a normal match, that damage could instantly kill a character wearing level-three armor and a level-three helmet with a headshot. But against players with superhuman strength... it might not even break through their armor. The 'Law of Heaven and Earth' cheat I'm using now merely enlarges my character model, allowing me to see farther and increasing my bullet range. Some basic data, like character model weight and strength, remain consistent with the original. I can't actually transform into a giant and flatten Lion City with a single slap. All we can do is assist you by distracting and harassing them from the sidelines. Landing the decisive blow and taking down the enemy commander—that still relies on you."
"Understood." Li Ang nodded. The scout insects he had deployed revealed that the battle below was already raging.
The Light Giants from the Special Affairs Bureau activated the 'Ride-Hailing Cheat.' Instantly, a vast number of unclaimed vehicles on the map flew towards them, gathering beneath the Giants' feet. Two Light Giants would share a car. One drove (though their model was so large the car itself was virtually invisible), heading towards Xing Hechou's position to regroup, while the other stood in the back, spraying bullets into the sky. When their bullets ran out, they would activate the 'Universal Attraction' cheat, pulling in all guns, ammunition, medkits, and energy drinks within a certain radius, and, using the 'Infinite Bag' cheat, stow everything away on their person.
On the other hand, Prometheus's forces weren't to be underestimated either. The company was renowned for its cutting-edge technology and employed a host of IT demigods who hastily cobbled together game cheats. Because their teams were located in different real-world regions, the cheats they used were wildly varied and unique.
One player from the Prometheus faction used an 'Airdrop Cheat.' He took out a revolver and fired three shots into the sky. Moments later, two rows of airplanes came zooming over the horizon. One row of planes dropped thirty to forty airdrop crates, colored blue on top and red on the bottom. These were filled with top-tier weapons, along with level-three helmets and armor. The other row of planes flew towards various parts of the poison zone to conduct carpet bombing, turning the entire map, except for Lion City, into a red bombing zone.
One player transformed into a Thousand-Armed Guanyin, sprouting ten arms from their body, each wielding a gun and firing into the sky. This barrage caused the Special Affairs Bureau's Light Giants to bleed green, though their lost Life Value was quickly replenished by the 'Quick Medicine' cheat. Another flew through the air standing on a gigantic frying pan, looking down upon the mortals below. Someone else transformed into an ordinary palm tree, speeding along close to the ground. They would stop whenever they neared another player, pretending to be a regular tree while 'admiring' the distant scenery. Yet another player, covered head-to-toe in frying pans, stood on high ground, acting like a black hole by absorbing all bullets aimed at their teammates to protect them.
The scene was utter chaos, essentially a competition to see whose cheats were more sophisticated, whose ideas were wilder, and who had more tricks up their sleeve.
The Light Giants of the Special Affairs Bureau had already regrouped, trying every conceivable method to prevent the opposition from approaching Lion City. Meanwhile, the Prometheus forces attempted to rendezvous with FPU while simultaneously creating as much interference for Li Ang as possible. Thirty of their members used a 'Speed Cheat' to race to the outskirts of Lion City, where they formed a circle, and then...
BOOM!
The ground beneath the feet of these thirty individuals erupted with a thunderous roar. Under the influence of the cheat, the desert terrain twisted and warped, transforming into a massive stone wall that rose rapidly, completely encircling Lion City.
"Earth Escape: Earthen Wall Technique!"
"Not good!" The expression of a Special Affairs Bureau Light Giant changed drastically. He pulled his machine gun's trigger, spraying bullets at the towering Earthen Stream Wall. However, the cannonball-like, super-heavy bullets merely kicked up clouds of dust upon impact with the Earthen Stream Wall; they couldn't penetrate it.
"Where's the Earth Escape cheat? The Earth Escape cheat, where is it?!" the Special Affairs Bureau officer roared into his radio. "And the Character-Wall-Phasing cheat! The Bullet-Wall-Phasing cheat! Quick, quick, quick! They're about to regroup!"
"Earth Escape and Wall-Phasing cheats are useless!" technicians, hastily summoned to various command posts, yelled over the comms channels. "We're using a memory cheat now, directly modifying input data—it's crude but effective. Modifying a character model enacts the Law of Heaven and Earth. Modifying firearm models enlarges weapons. Changing the coordinates of other items enables Universal Attraction, absorbing weapons and bullets. The essence of Wall-Phasing and Earth Escape cheats is to modify one's own character coordinates. However, the opposing Earthen Stream Wall incorporates highly advanced technology; our bullets are instantly teleported to other locations on the map when they strike it. Inside the Earthen Stream Wall, Lion City's entire coordinate system is also constantly shifting, making it impossible to lock onto!"
"I'll handle it." Li Ang, still perched on the back of Xing Hechou's Light Giant form, had already reached the front of the Earthen Stream Wall. He pushed off the Light Giant's back, leaped high, and pressed his palm against the Earthen Stream Wall.
Alchemy activated instantly. Even as the Earthen Stream Wall continued to stretch and rise, a huge hole began to melt into existence around Li Ang's palm. A player's inherent abilities within the Realms Corridor held higher priority than ordinary cheats, even memory-modification cheats. Thus, the Earthen Stream Wall, created by memory modification, proved as fragile as butter before his Alchemy.
CRACK!
Li Ang slammed his palm again, and the hole in the Earthen Stream Wall instantly widened, revealing the hidden Lion City.
