Genetic Ascension-Chapter 1983: Be Gone
Sylas' original intention wasn't to create an Armor so powerful. This easily placed the Serpentes Armor on a level all to its own compared to the others.
Its Layers didn't even remotely reflect what it had once been. It was like it was a completely different Armor entirely. Part of Sylas even hesitated to release it back to The Sanctum.
This wasn't because he valued it so much, he hardly cared. He had created something like this once, he could certainly do it again. In fact, he would surely forge something even better in the future.
Also, the Whale King Armor, despite not incorporating any Sins, was no less powerful. After all, its creation was built on the back of Fathomless Rune Creation.
The real reason was instead that he didn't know how this sort of thing would impact the Serpentes Lineage. It might make them very strong... but it might also destroy them from the inside out.
What made this Armor so powerful was the Wills that formed it, Wills that came from two extremely powerful Sins.
Sylas had been forced to meld them into one because two Sins forging one body was usually not how the Madness Disciples did things. This would make it far easier to obscure.
What the impotent system had proved was that it wasn't all that difficult to pull the wool over its eyes so long as you were prepared.
But Sylas didn't want to be in a situation where the Serpentes Lineage had an Armor so powerful it couldn't even begin to use it. At that point, what would be the point?
Not everyone was as powerful as he was.
But even as Sylas had the thought... he realized that he already had the solution.
He raised a hand and the Ape Emperor Will thrummed.
'The Serpentes will be Lust and Gluttony. You... will be Wrath and Pride.'
As much as people observing probably thought Sylas cared a great deal about his Monkey King Armor...
He didn't.
It didn't have some special place in his heart, he didn't think it to be some cream of the crop powerful Armor that would sit atop all the others. In fact, he didn't care all that much if the Monkey Lineage Mountain crumbled to ash right this very moment.
It had already served its purpose. It got Sylas' Grimblade Clan a foothold into the higher reaches of A-tier Races, it had helped him sneak into The Sanctum, and its Armor had helped him out in a difficult battle or two... That was all he had ever needed from it.
Now, it could step aside.
Lust and Gluttony worked so well together because one enhanced Charisma and the other enhanced Will. Just the basic First Layer ability of the Armor would grant the user an extremely powerful telekinesis... the Second Layer would grant them access to Martial Telekinesis... and the Third Layer would grant them a perfect Martial Telekinesis, one where they could directly manipulate the Serpent King Gene they were granted by the system.
While they wouldn't be able to use telekinesis on all of their Genes like Sylas could, this could be a bridge point that just might allow them to.
To create an Armor that gave a Lineage access to a type of Martial Arts even the God Realms held in reverence... It could only be said that Sylas had truly touched an unreachable level of Rune Mastery.
And yet, he planned to give the Ape King Armor abilities no less magnificent.
The Seed of Wrath granted one endless physical prowess in exchange for one's fury.
The Seed of Pride granted one the ability to endlessly suppress and crush the Wills of others.
Sylas waved a hand. He had felt Wrath intimately from the Boar just now. In fact, in the act of crushing the Boar's Will, he had sensed it even more clearly than during their battle.
His Grim Blade could slice apart anything, devour anything, consume and comprehend anything he so chose.
He didn't need every Armor he created to perfectly reflect a Virtue. The Sin was enough... it would be more than adequately powerful.
The Ape Armor took shape, shells of black and crimson layering atop of one another. Wild, murderous eyes filled with the Pride of an Ape King bearing down on the world itself.
Sylas gazed at the two Armors in complete silence for a long while as though the world wasn't collapsing down around him.
Both of these Armors were far too powerful for the people of The Sanctum.
The issue wasn't exactly the power. The Whale Armor was on the same level but Sylas didn't feel the same trouble. The issue was that the Will was so powerful it could crush them from the inside out.
However, if there was a balance formed...
Lust and Gluttony pushing against Pride and Wrath.
There was a reason that Sylas was still here crafting Armors when it didn't seem like it would make any difference.
Every one of those meteors carried the full power of an A-tier strike. Even the Emperors had to go all out to deal with one of them, and yet dozens were falling from the sky at a time.
Every time one wave concluded, another would come, and then another.
In just the span of a single minute, hundreds would fall. What good did Armors that had the most positive effect on F- to C-tiers do?
The answer to that question was only obvious to someone who had stepped into the realms of Rune Mastery that Sylas had.
Sylas had no ability to craft a formation that could block this from scratch. Even he hadn't reached such a level.
But his Rune Mastery, ironically, had.
Sylas could cast Runes by twisting the world to his will and forcing it to spontaneously craft exactly what he wanted.
And now, other than the Scorpion, he had grasped the Will of every Lineage of The Sanctum.
And they all obeyed him far more than even the Ancestors that crafted them.
Sylas' gaze flashed as a roar came from the Serpent and Ape Lineage Mountains.
Slowly, Sylas pressed his palms together.
In all the shock and awe of the world toward his Rune Mastery, they had still underestimated him.
The current Sylas...
Could craft a formation that would leave even A-tiers helpless.
"Be gone." Sylas declared calmly, his voice nothing but a whisper and yet spreading through the entire world.
