Genetic Extra In The Apocalypse-Chapter 74: The fear of Storme I
On the outside, heads were already turned upwards in worry, their heart constricting at what some of them could only describe as a temper tantrum.
Though they didn’t voice the thoughts of their hearts aloud — none was stupid enough, or rather, suicidal enough to... They were indeed right to feel a certain way, and also feel fear.
With each passing second, the air only became colder and colder, that some could even feel their blood running cold.
Noxus looked over at Richelle and sighed, turning his head back to the Gate, which Richelle was intently starting at.
He understood her trepidation, and it would be stupid, insensitive, as well as hypocritical of him, to say she couldn’t punish others for a choice Sean decided on his own.
Though that was the logical conclusion, and was true in every sense. There were some things that just didn’t need to be said.
Richelle’s frown tightened.
Of course, she noticed his stare, and had heard his sigh loud and clear... It also didn’t help that he was not in the least bit subtle about it... And by subtle, she meant trying to be discreet before her.
And for the weaklings below, they wouldn’t even have noticed if they were watching his face intently...
Right now, a majority of them had their eyes on the Gate, and some were even muttering prayers in their hearts, that the next batch of students that came out, Sean would be amongst them.
There were also some of them who had thought of directly leaving the area in fear of what might happen should she eventually snap. Because, make no mistake, none of them believed that Sean was going to make it out alive.
Talented as he was, it just wasn’t possible for a Stage-1 to stand against a Stage-3, forget about a Stage-1 who just touched upon power for the first time like Sean.
But as much as their fear urged them to leave, that same fear kept them rooted to their spot.
If Richelle was, or would be unreasonable enough to unleashed a massacre... Hell she had already done that, with the mechs that had tried to stop her. If she had dared to do that, what would happen when one tried to leave?
It would be like a blatant insult... Calling her reckless, unrestrained, and a tyrant to her face, not only that, before her fiance, the man who before now, was prided as the most powerful evolver in Aegis.
While it was still a question as to whether she would really pay them any mind at all, considering her mind and heart were focused on other things now, none were willing to make the first move, and become test subject for others.
Worse come to worse, if she did start a rampage, there was no possible way she would stop all of them from leaving, nor did they believe that the Chancellor, nor Noxus would allow her free reign to vent all she wanted.
At that time, it would be every man to himself.
That said, they were called noble families for a reason.
A new aura entered the fray. Even without seeing the person, everyone felt the shift in the air.
Instantly, it felt like the charges and static currents in the atmosphere... present naturally in the world, abut laying out of their perception — at least for some of them... Suddenly come alive.
For a split second, these currents zapped through their bodies, causing some of them to shudder slightly.
"I didn’t expect that you’d be making an appearance, Sir. Field Marshall,"
A voice called, and the next instant... Henry appeared in the air without flash. As though he was there one second, and the next, wasn’t.
The old man chuckled at his greeting.
"Your appearance is also unexpected," he replied, his laughter settling into an amused smile.
"Well, I heard you made face today, and I was like... Why not come see the old man?" Henry grinned.
His words were very plausible as seeing the old man was not something that happened frequently... In fact, every member of the council — old foggies who were supposed to be in care homes, were hardly seen, except one worked directiwoth them. And even then, it wasn’t a guarantee.
Henry’s words while highlighting that fact, did the trick of quietly deflecting the old man’s probe. What would be left of his face if he said he came here because of the threat Richelle posed.
Another aura descended, and unlike electric air that Henry came with, this one was completely silent... In fact, it didn’t do anything else, other just announcing presence.
And when they finally too notice of who it was, some faces couldn’t help but twist into confusion. After all, of every noble family, she was the least expected to arrive.
There were barely any student from the main branch of her family that partook in the test, and if there was any that did, they weren’t really considered much of a genius, since the best of their current generation should be in their Third and Second Years already in the Academy.
"It’s been a while Old man." The woman said.
Her voice was soft, like chimes on a breezy night. Melodic and beautiful, much like her appearance... Long, strawberry blonde hair, that complimented her blue dress, a face so perfect it bothered on divine.
"It’s indeed been a while, Carmella," the old man smiled wildly.
"Ah..." He suddenly sighed aloud. "It seems more guests are coming.
Another aura descended, raising the temperature of the surroundings a notch, but still within comfortable limits.
In the air, a stone faced man, with neatly cut red hair, and a small goatee, appeared.
There was another change, and a man with dark brown hair that bothered on dirty blonde, appeared. Much like Carmella, there was no change in air with his arrival.
Vincent Hilton of the Hiltons, and Damian Harts of the Hart family... Father of the one in a thousand genius, Devon Hart.
The Chancellor laughed. "Come all of you, it’s still morning. Hopefully, I have enough tea to go round."
Before any of them could respond...
DING!
The announcement board, with which those who were watching the examination, tracked the progress of the students, and their achievements.
[ANNOUNCEMENT: Congratulations to the participant, Sean Storme for being the first to kill a Stage-3 out-worlder]
[REWARDS: +100% to all current points, for this unprecedented feat!]
The world was thrown into silence, and Richelle felt her heart tremble.
