Chapter 410: Bloody snow [3]

Snow drifted down in silence.

The snowflakes around him trembled, and a wet hum vibrated through the ground beneath his knee.

"Haa... what is she up to now?"

The white field darkened.

A line appeared across the snow, then another, and then hundreds of veins spreading outward from a single point.

Blood seeped up through the cracks, bubbling and steaming as it flooded the surface.

*THOOOMMM* The snowfield exploded.

A geyser of blood erupted skyward as the woman burst out from beneath the surface, hovering above the ground.

She looked different now.

The playful smile was gone.

Her hair floated wildly, soaked at the tips with blood. Veins pulsed visibly beneath her pale skin and blood coiled around her limbs, layering over her body.

"Guess I triggered the second phase." He closed his eyes for a second, calming his racing heart.

Then he opened them and exhaled.

Wrapping the chains around his knuckles, he glanced up at her.

The woman’s laughter echoed across the frozen landscape "You’re full of surprises, subject."

"You want to play seriously?"

The blood geysers erupted, forming towering pillars that twisted into massive, spear-like constructs.

She snapped her fingers, and the storm began.

Blood spears rained down at him, streaking like meteors.

"Fucking hell..." Brandon dashed forward and the chains snapped outward, smashing through the first wave of spears CRASH-CRASH-CRASH- as the fragments exploded in crimson fireworks.

Suddenly a massive spear came straight for his chest.

Clenching his fist, he punched it head-on and silver flames detonated on impact.

*thoooom*

The spear shattered, the shockwave blasting snow outward in a perfect ring.

Creating an ether disc below his feet, he jumped on it before dashing up in the air.

Mid-air, he spun and the chains whipped around him like a tornado, deflecting a barrage of orbs.

*clank* *clank* *clank*

Each impact sent shockwaves rippling through the air as the snow vaporized in bursts.

He landed hard, cratering the ground, then charged straight at her ’I need to shorten the distance.’

The woman met him halfway and waved her hand.

A wall of blood surged up blocking them from view.

But Brandon didn’t slow and punched straight through it.

*BOOOMM* His silver flames exploded on contact, burning the blood away in a violent hiss.

’Take this bitch...’ He burst through the other side and threw a punch straight at her face.

She blocked it with both forearms, but the gravity behind his punch pushed her back.

BOOM

The impact shook the trees, and Brandon didn’t let up.

He followed with a knee to her stomach and amplified the gravity on his leg, making it heavy as a battering ram.

"RAGH-" She doubled over, coughing blood.

He grabbed her by the collar and slammed her downward.

*THOOM* The ground cratered beneath her.

She retaliated instantly, and blood spikes erupted from her body in every direction.

’Same trick again?’ Brandon leaped back, and his chains snapped forward to form a shield. The spikes slammed into the red links, cracking several chains but not breaking through.

She stood up, and the blood flowed inward to heal her wounds.

Looking at him, she muttered "No matter how hard you fight, you can’t defeat me. My blood... is poison."

"And it has already entered your body. Also healing potions can’t cure my poison. So you are already dead."

Brandon’s gaze narrowed upon hearing this ’That’s not a problem. Noona’s healing also burns any type of poison. So as long as I can heal, it will burn the poison too.’

A smile appeared on her lips "You should be feeling it already... your body heat rising, your blood boiling up."

-_- Brandon gave her a blank stare ’Yeah... sure.’

Extending her hand, she asked sweetly "Only I can cure that poison, so obediently come with me."

*woosh* In the next instant, he closed the distance and threw a punch at her face "Nah."

Her eyes shrank as the punch landed on her face, blasting her away in the snow.

*THOOM*

A shockwave exploded outward, and the trees bent away from the epicenter.

She flew backward, skidding across the frozen ground, carving a deep trench through the snow and ice before slamming into a cluster of twisted pines.

The trees cracked and splintered.

She hit the ground hard, rolling once, twice, then sliding to a stop on her back.

She sat up slowly, wiping the blood from her split lip with the back of her hand.

Her nose was crooked, but even as Brandon watched, it snapped back into place with a wet crack, blood flowing inward to heal it.

A sigh escaped her lips, and she extended her hand.

Blood condensed around her arm in dark spirals, hardening and lengthening until it formed a massive scythe.

She gripped the long haft, spun the weapon once in a slow, elegant arc, then gently rested the curved blade on her shoulder.

"Let’s see..." she murmured, tilting her head as if considering a minor inconvenience. "Well, ’she’ asked me to bring you back. Dead or alive."

"We just need your body anyway..."

Suddenly, the sky split open, and an enormous red eye opened, glancing down at him.

Looking at the eye, Brandon’s gaze trembled ’What is this... is this some sort of illusion?’

The woman took a step forward, and in the next instant, she was right in front of him "Welcome to my domain..."

Bloody hands erupted from the ground, trying to catch him, but Brandon leaped up in the air and stood on an ether disc.

But before he could even do anything, the woman appeared behind him and slashed her scythe at him.

’Fuck-’ He quickly raised his hand and blocked the handle with his forearm.

*THUD*

The impact blasted him backward like a cannon shot.

He crashed through the snow, tumbling end over end, carving a deep trench before slamming into a cluster of snow.

’Fucking hell...’

Looking at his broken arm, he quickly healed, and as he stood up-

*sleesh*

A crimson arc flashed in the corner of his vision, and Brandon’s eyes widened.

The scythe slashed cleanly through his neck.

Huh? He saw the world tilt upside down as his head flew and tumbled down the snow with a wet thump, rolling once, twice, then coming to rest facing the woman.

A snowflake gently fell onto his eyeball before melting away.

He saw his headless corpse standing for a second before falling to the ground with a loud thud.

Rotating the scythe in her hand, the woman uttered casually "Task completed..."
