Getting Stronger By Fighting-Chapter 477 - I Don’t Have It!_1
And so, Three Seven suddenly roared out loud, "I don’t! I just... I just need to throw up a bit! I’ll be fine soon! BLEGH..."
This process was bound to be challenging.
Thus, when Three Seven finally did as he said, after vomiting profusely, he stood bravely before Wang Zhan, his steps still a little unsteady. At that moment, what the Old Man saw were the large and small figures, both with their backs perfectly straight, utterly ignoring the beasts that had scented blood and were now rushing toward them. They both seemed to possess a unique and profound aura! Even the small child appeared to have the courage to face the Federation!
It was like a spectacular painting: before them, encircling beasts; around them, the desolate wilderness. Yet, their presence would not waver out of fear. What they possessed was courage that could reach the heavens.
Suddenly, the Old Man understood why Wang Zhan had brought the child along. It was because this was the endlessly transmitted heritage of the Human Race, their flame of knowledge. But it seemed now that while Wang Zhan was capable of such acts of bequeathing a legacy, he had no intention of taking the little kid under his wing.
In fact, aside from Wang Zhan himself, fewer and fewer people could guess his thoughts or dare to use any perceived weakness to try and blackmail him. This was because Wang Zhan consistently projected unpredictability in mood, with sorrow and joy concealed, leading to an increasingly ruthless mind and deeper thoughts. For this reason, Wang Zhan’s enemies knew his temperament better than his friends did. Consequently, unless they desired a life-and-death struggle with Wang Zhan or to be thoroughly targeted by him, his enemies knew it was best not to provoke him during ordinary, non-critical moments.
Actually, regarding the incident where Wang Zhan’s madman clone was imprisoned and unable to move, many people had unanimously chosen to distance themselves from it. It was only a few who dared to risk universal condemnation to provoke Wang Zhan and attempt to pull him down from his pedestal. Wang Zhan simply hadn’t had much time to deal with it recently, nor had he found the opportunity. Otherwise, he would undoubtedly have shown those eagerly anticipating this spectacle his true means.
Therefore, to him, it didn’t matter if it was a child under ten. Even if a devastatingly beautiful woman stood before him, Wang Zhan would treat her the same way. That was his style, his exclusive protective layer that no one could easily penetrate.
So, Wang Zhan spoke mercilessly to the little fellow, his gaze deeply fixed in the direction of Quan State. "Perhaps you don’t know where I’m from. But I’m telling you, next, I’m heading in that direction..."
That place was the source of the current chaos in the Southwest states.
That place was what the Federation now yearned for and obsessed over.
That place had also once been the starting point for all of Wang Zhan’s plans in the Southwest states.
However, now, that place had become synonymous with a name that made people turn pale at its mention, a name that struck terror into hearts! The Beast Clan—a formidable group of beasts had gathered in an unprecedented assembly, forming a massive Beast Tide.
But after hearing this, Three Seven’s face, already pale, lost every last trace of color. Needless to say, he was familiar with Quan State and knew its location. So, naturally, deep down, he was acutely aware of the immense danger that the name Quan State represented at this current time. What he hadn’t expected was that this Big Brother, who had rescued him from a small, struggling city, had already decided to journey into Hell!
Thus, trembling slightly, he asked Wang Zhan, his fear evident, "Do... do I have to go too?"
A slight upturn touched the corner of Wang Zhan’s mouth, not a smile of mirth, but one of chilling coldness. "That depends on whether you want to go."
He continued to probe. The kid’s psychological defences were actually far stronger than those of any other child his age. Therefore, it was unlikely that one casual probe would make him withdraw completely, just as he had resolutely chosen to follow Wang Zhan and leave that city in the first place. This was one of his few opportunities! The kid knew this as well.
Only the Old Man in the mirror, which had fallen utterly silent, watched the world with a mournful gaze. Being born in the Federation... for so many things, what choice was there really!
Even though the Old Man deeply hoped the kid would say no to Wang Zhan, to spare himself from excessive suffering. After all, Wang Zhan was formidable, certainly a genius. However, the Old Man was no fool; during their journey, he had already discerned some of Wang Zhan’s inherent traits. For instance, Wang Zhan’s mental fortitude was so resilient it could make even the Old Man shudder with a chilling fear, inspiring terror. Because, even while flying, visibly weakened by the decline in his vital energy, Wang Zhan constantly endured the torment of frailty, along with the uncontrollable, ravenous hunger characteristic of a powerful Martial Artist. Yet, Wang Zhan never backed down or chose to give up. Instead, he stubbornly forged ahead on his chosen path! Indeed, the Old Man realized that even if Wang Zhan didn’t enjoy the process, he was constantly using every available condition to temper his own foundation—to an almost frenzied degree!
This was enough to prove Wang Zhan’s nature: he was definitely not someone who would show mercy at a critical moment.
At the same time, Wang Zhan’s attitude towards the Old Man had revealed much to him. For example, the Old Man was clearly Qin Ying’s granduncle, and Wang Zhan should have treated him with courtesy. Yet, to everyone’s surprise, Wang Zhan was mostly indifferent, even occasionally deceptive. This suggested that perhaps, aside from that girl Qin Ying, no outsider could easily hold a privileged position in Wang Zhan’s heart. To put it bluntly, he was a heartless and overbearing individual, one who would absolutely not change his views easily for others.
Therefore, one could only imagine the torment this little kid, nicknamed Three Seven, would endure if he fell into Wang Zhan’s hands!
Of course, the Old Man also knew his line of thinking was fundamentally unjust—not to Wang Zhan, but to Three Seven, a child who had already lost his brother and lived a precarious existence. After all, he himself was a Martial Artist, perhaps even a powerful Martial Emperor! But Three Seven was just an ordinary person, with average Talent and vital energy; only his willpower was uncommonly strong! This was one of his few opportunities; it could even be said that if he missed it, he might never have or encounter such a chance again.
Therefore, the Old Man chose to remain silent, watching quietly. He didn’t even know when it had started, but it seemed that although his own foundation was still deeper than Wang Zhan’s, the young man had already taken control of the entire situation.
So, the Old Man could only shake his head and smile bitterly in his heart. "What a domineering, terrifying, and meticulously scheming young man..." He almost suspected that, compared to the level of cunning displayed by this young Wang Zhan before him, all his own past years of hardship and arduous cultivation had long since gone to waste.
Actually, not only was the Old Man hesitating, but the little kid was hesitating too! Though young, the little kid’s mind, nurtured by his own brother, had matured early. Therefore, he naturally understood, just as the Old Man did, the difficulty of this choice. If he chose to follow, then undoubtedly, from that day on, he might have to endure, every single moment, everything his brother had once suffered.
However, the problem was, if he chose to refuse Wang Zhan... Then, from that day forward, even if he could become a Martial Artist, he would miss out on a path destined to be far wider than what he might otherwise have. After all, everyone knew that opportunities depend on timing, and in martial arts, there are clear distinctions in skill levels. Even in the world of children, what they came to understand through the influence of adults and their own gradual enlightenment was no less than what adults knew.
Therefore, though his face was still deathly pale, Three Seven nodded firmly. In that moment, the nod felt as heavy as a thousand pounds!
Then, Three Seven lifted his small head and asked the towering figure before him softly, "Can I follow you then?"
Wang Zhan’s expression faltered slightly. "Why choose to follow me?"
Three Seven seemed to have come to a firm understanding and explained to Wang Zhan, "Because I have a feeling... only by staying by your side will I have the greatest chance of survival..."
"HAHAHAHA..."
Little did he know, such a statement wouldn’t earn Wang Zhan’s approval but instead elicited roaring laughter that seemed both incredibly pleased and utterly unrestrained, yet carried an undertone of mockery—towards Three Seven, or perhaps towards himself. He looked completely unhinged!
So much so that some wandering beasts, which hadn’t initially noticed their presence, were drawn over by the sound. Instantly, gusts of fetid wind, under the blue sky and white clouds, stirred quietly and blew into the noses of the two people there. A flush instantly returned to Three Seven’s face. He knew: it was those ferocious, terrifying beasts, constantly baring their fangs and brandishing their claws, trying to devour humans.
Wang Zhan, however, paid them no mind. It was as if these beasts were merely ants in his eyes—creatures he could squash with a single footstep.
Therefore, by the time the scattered beasts, their nostrils constantly flaring, were visible in his line of sight...
