Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 306: Food
She felt the presence of countless items, stacked neatly in an unseen space.
Her eyes widened in shock as she began pulling things out one by one.
Instant noodles. Packs of ready-to-eat meals. Seasonings and spices. Fresh fruits and vegetables.
Medical supplies. Several extra teleportation talismans.
There were even a few artifacts tucked carefully among the rest.
The more she took out, the more stunned she became.
The space inside was enormous, yet it was organized so efficiently that only the essentials occupied most of it.
The food Axel had prepared, though abundant, would likely last her two to three weeks.
With the added seasonings, vegetables, and supplies, she could survive in the ghost zones for an entire month if she was careful.
The talismans and artifacts took up surprisingly little space compared to the food.
’This thing is huge,’ she thought, her heart pounding with excitement.
Without hesitation, she placed her smaller bag inside.
The moment it disappeared, she followed it with her main bag, then her clothes.
When she was done, she looked at the remaining items in her hands.
Everything else fit easily. Satisfaction settled over her.
She turned to Mr. Crow. "How do I close it?"
Before he could answer, the talisman began to shrink on its own.
In a blink, it reduced to the size of her palm and gently dropped into her hand.
Lana blinked. "So all I need to do is say ’open’ and ’close,’ and it listens?"
As if responding to her words, the talisman floated up, opened, closed again, and then returned to her palm.
She stared at it in awe. "This must’ve been really expensive."
Mr. Crow chuckled. "You should read the news more often."
Lana looked up at him. "Is there something you know that I don’t?"
He didn’t hide it.
"Axel bought that talisman at an auction house for almost one billion dollars."
"One billion?" Lana gasped, her eyes widening. "How much did you say?"
She stared at the talisman again, disbelief washing over her.
"I never thought something like this could cost that much."
Mr. Crow waved his hand dismissively.
"Don’t worry about it. From Axel’s expression alone, it’s obvious he enjoys spending money on you."
Lana hesitated. "How do you even know that?"
Mr. Crow smiled knowingly.
"While you were sleeping, I followed him around. I got to know him pretty well."
He even added a smug little smile.
Lana narrowed her eyes. "Did something happen behind my back?"
The moment she said that, Mr. Crow burst into laughter.
"To get into your good graces, Axel went as far as befriending me," he admitted. "I received quite a few benefits during this time."
He shrugged. "In the end, I developed a rather good impression of him."
Hearing how close Axel and Mr. Crow had become, Lana couldn’t help her curiosity any longer.
She tilted her head, eyes glinting with mischief.
"Then you’d better tell me everything you know," she warned lightly.
"Otherwise, don’t blame me if your bikini photos mysteriously end up all over the internet."
The moment the words left her mouth, Mr. Crow exploded. "You little menace!" he roared, his voice echoing in the quiet night.
"You really know how to make someone so restless that they want to slap you!"
Lana laughed, the sound crisp and fearless. "If you have the courage, go ahead and try."
They continued bickering back and forth until the night grew deeper and the campsite gradually fell silent.
One by one, everyone retreated into their tents.
Instead of sleeping, Lana slipped out quietly.
’This is the perfect time,’ she thought. ’If I’m going to hunt ghosts, night is ideal.’
Mr. Crow followed, frowning. "Aren’t you scared?"
Lana chuckled, her steps light.
"So far, this world hasn’t produced anything capable of scaring me."
Mr. Crow rolled his eyes.
"Funny. I clearly remember that just a few months ago, you were terrified of a ten-year-old ghost."
She waved her hand dismissively.
"That was nothing. I was just testing your reaction back then."
Mr. Crow shook his head, clearly unconvinced.
Lana suddenly stopped and turned serious. "Focus," she said.
"What’s the highest-level ghost in this area?"
Mr. Crow closed his eyes and activated his sensing technique, his expression relaxed.
"From what I can tell, there aren’t many ghost with high cultivation. You don’t need to worry. Most of the dangerous ones should’ve already been dealt with by the Shadow, especially with a university teacher stationed here."
Lana didn’t respond. Her expression shifted subtly, becoming alert.
As she scanned the darkness, a sudden voice called out, "Lana."
In an instant, both Lana and Mr. Crow stiffened.
They turned around sharply and saw Layla standing a short distance away, her figure half-hidden by the shadows.
Lana narrowed her eyes. "Who are you?"
Layla’s expression turned wounded. "Your classmate!" 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
"There’s a code," Lana replied coldly. "Why are you calling me by my name?"
Layla chuckled softly. "Code twenty-six."
Lana let out a slow breath, tension easing from her shoulders.
Mr. Crow frowned. "For a moment, I almost thought she was a ghost."
"She isn’t," Lana replied calmly.
Mr. Crow glanced at her.
"And how are you so sure? If she isn’t, why did she call you by name?"
Through their spiritual link, Lana responded evenly, ’Even if she did that, there’s one thing we can’t ignore. She knows my code number. Only teammates know that.’
Mr. Crow hesitated.
"If that’s the case, then why did the ghost know your name as well? Are you saying someone from the Mystic Department might be involved?"
Lana nodded slightly.
By then, Layla had already walked closer. She smiled at Lana.
"I knew it. You were definitely going to sneak out at night, rack up points, and leave the rest of us behind."
Lana laughed and shook her head.
"During the day, most ghosts hide. At night, they’re basically at a ghost market."
Layla burst out laughing. "A ghost market?"
"I’m not joking," Lana said seriously. ’This was proven in studies conducted later.’
Seeing Lana’s solemn expression, Layla knew her chances of persuading her otherwise were close to zero.
