Girl Hero: Revenge on Goblins!-Chapter 1050 - 419: Song of Reaching for the Stars (2)
The Foolish King’s tone gradually deepened.
"...But on the way as the Dragon Emperor attacked the Kingdom, an accident occurred."
Realizing they were finally getting to the point, the Empress’s expression became serious, and her fingers stopped tapping the ice table. She interlaced her fingers and listened attentively.
"At that time, I had reduced most of my own authority just to maintain the stability of the Dragon Emperor, making it difficult to grasp the battlefield’s movements. After the Dragon Emperor lost control, my scale was further compressed. So in order to investigate the information from that time, I spent a long time before I could report like this to Your Majesty."
"And finally, according to the intelligence I obtained, the place where the Dragon Emperor’s mutation occurred, and also the cause of the mutation, is right here."
The Foolish King said, lightly tapping the ice table with his hand.
Magic Power circulated, and lines of light quickly drew a fine and clear map.
And his fingertip landed precisely on the location of a city on the map.
Staring at the location he pointed out, the Empress’s pupils slightly contracted.
"—The Kingdom, Plain Ancient City."
The Foolish King said in a deep voice.
"Right after the Dragon Tide conquered that city, a force strong enough to shake the Divine Domain, transcending the Taboo Domain, somehow bypassed all seals and directly infused into the curse remaining in the Dragon Heart.
The curse thus expanded to an unprecedented extent, twisting the very foundation of the Dragon Emperor’s existence. By the time I discovered it, it was too late...eventually, it evolved into its current state."

Window period.
Just like the young princess, who had to be born precisely during that short few-year span to have the chance to shake the entire Empire when she grew up.
Similarly, someone seized the only moment possible for the Dragon Emperor to lose control, turning a near-zero possibility into reality.
The Foolish King poured himself a cup of well-insulated, still steaming tea, waiting for the Empress to digest the recent intelligence.
The ice room fell into a long silence.
"Plain Ancient City... I recall, it’s home to the only true Dungeon on the Gate Continent."
After a long time, the Empress spoke slowly.
By sheer geographic advantage, it ranks as one of the Kingdom’s four major cities, alongside the political center Capital, the vast Border City, and the Church Headquarters’ Holy Capital.
With its vast endless plains, inexhaustible Magic Creature resources, and powerful Professionals gathered like stars in the Adventurers’ capital.
"Although due to the Ancient Dragon Ridge, few from the Empire can set foot there, it is also a coveted land for the Empire."
"Indeed." The Foolish King sipped some flower tea, nodding, "Then may I ask if Your Majesty knows why it is the continent’s only true Dungeon?"
The Empress slightly furrowed her brows.
Dungeon, on the Gate Continent, is not a familiar term. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Everything in the world is in flux. Every tide of Magic Power, every breath of the world, can cause Magic Elements to gather, settle, and accumulate in some space.
When reaching the limit, they usually erupt on the surface in the form of an Arcane Surge;
But sometimes, these gathered Magic Elements don’t release on the surface but sink deeper underground.
As the accumulated Magic Elements grow, their distortion of the surrounding environment and space also increases. When this distortion reaches its peak, it gives rise to a heterogeneous sub-plane—Dungeon.
A Dungeon is not merely an Otherworld; just as flowers and rocks can become Magic Creatures, and as beings birthed by Arcane Surge, Dungeons also possess a vague will.
Simply put, it can be seen as a Magic Creature of spatial concept,
Each Dungeon is an independent and unique life form, with various types.
Just as predators are born to pursue and hunt taboo knowledge, Dungeons also have an innate mission: to return the accumulated Magic Power to the world’s cycle.
In a word, they were all born to be conquered.
But Dungeons cannot achieve this by themselves.
The creation of a Dungeon might come from carving out an underground space from nothing or parasitizing existing solution caves, abandoned domains, or even Goblin nests.
They devour, distort, and reshape that space, transforming it into a Dungeon, and convert the strongest Magic Creature within into a Demon King Species, the Dungeon Master.
But regardless of the approach, these actions only change the existence form of Magic Power without returning it to nature’s cycle.
Hence, external forces are required.
It needs an existence that is both greedy and brave, to stir its Magic Power and exchange with the outside world.
—That would be Adventurers.
Thus, Dungeons not only spawn rampant Magic Creatures within but also nurture countless treasures, like scattering bait, luring Adventurers in with boundless wealth, mystery, danger, and opportunity.
And depending on the Dungeon’s level, and the personality and preferences of its vague will, the structure of Dungeons varies greatly.
Some have treasure piled like mountains, yet the Dungeon Master is very weak, known as rare reward Dungeons; others are filled with fierce monsters, with disproportionate returns, called killer Dungeons; the majority are dangerous yet offer reasonable rewards in normal Dungeons.
This is merely a difference in difficulty, with even more diverse specific forms.
But every kind of Dungeon shares one commonality: they are all conquerable.
