Capítulo 828: Chapter D297: Bread

The sun sets in the west, and the pure white crescent moon gradually climbs into the night sky. The frosted moonlight descends, casting a faint radiance upon the white jade-like bricks of the Cathedral.

The audience that lasted for most of the day has ended, and the Cathedral has welcomed its closing time. Other members of the Church have already left one by one.

After finishing the meeting with the Hero, most of them hurried back to their respective posts: some high-level people aware of the inner details are planning how to carry out the search for the Nether Sea Dream Erosion Group; while others are simply carrying out the orders of their superiors, participating in this important investigation.

Before the Saintess completed the Awakening, the Church Court did not dare act recklessly, but now that the Hero has awakened, her presence acts like a shot in the arm, putting everyone at ease, enabling them to act freely.

Though the Hero, after a year of slumber, is now full of spirit, the Pope did not have her, the newly appointed Saintess, immediately take on work, but instead advised her to take a good rest for a day.

The Church does indeed need the Saintess, but can never overly rely on her existence—the Divine Knowledge Saintess has taught them that lesson deeply.

‘Since the old man said so, should we go back and take a long nap? Just remembering that long list of names today almost made my head explode.’

Another self within began to complain lazily in her mind.

‘Even though we’re sharing the same brain, you actually didn’t do anything.’ The Hero retorted in exasperation.

Walking through the carved corridors, into the garden where flowers bloom all year round, the Hero suddenly stopped in her tracks.

She looked up at the night sky, her gaze drawn to her hometown she’d never met, the Emerald Eye holding a glimmer of thought.

‘—I’m hungry.’

Though theoretically, the Awakening Ritual of the Heavenly Full Holy Grail provided the Hero with enough energy, so that even prolonged sleep wouldn’t cause malnutrition, her sudden growth in height, and those elegantly proportioned curves, are the best proof.

Even the Hero herself took some time to get used to this body, which is at its most flourishing phase.

However, like her ancestor—though now she and her ancestor could be said to be two extremes—becoming legendary, having the ability of elementalization, she should maintain this form henceforth.

In fact, if it weren’t for the powerful ritual effects of the Heavenly Full Holy Grail, a simple Third Ascension shouldn’t have allowed her such significant growth, though she doesn’t resist it.

But irrespective of the objective facts—thinking that she actually hasn’t eaten anything for more than a year, she couldn’t help but feel an elusive sense of emptiness.

Simply put, she’s craving.

‘Come on, let’s go to the kitchen for some snacks.’

Another self urged promptly.

‘It’s so late, isn’t that inappropriate?’ The Hero hesitated.

‘Are you a Saintess or not? Quick, quick, I want them to make a dessert tower to celebrate finally getting rid of that shabby body that had nothing!’

‘Be careful, I might hit you. Plus, going to find snacks in the middle of the night doesn’t seem very Saintess-like.’

‘Isn’t this being a Saintess? The work of the Saintess is to command them, and their reward is to be commanded by the Saintess!’

‘Miss Book Spirit might like what you said…’

Though in words, she didn’t agree with her other self, the Hero’s legs honestly began moving towards the direction of the dining hall.

Originally, such a trivial matter would just require ordering the Gleaming Scale Serpent, but he’s currently on duty at the small chapel in Pure White Square.

The news of the Hero’s awakening had already spread throughout the Holy City, and many people had witnessed the Sea Shrimp breaking through the top unexpectedly.

So, while the Hero was receiving numerous high-level Church members, the Gleaming Scale also stayed in the small chapel as the Saintess’s representative to handle the aftermath.

[Will the small chapel remain?]

1.Yes♛

2.No

[Saintess’s Small Chapel]

A small chapel in a special location, belonging to no faction.

Located at the center of Pure White Square, beneath the Heroic Soul Monument, it is the first and only building on the square.

The place of Awakening for the acting Saintess, every corner of the chapel is saturated with holy aura.

Originally a temporary structure erected to safeguard the Saintess’s Awakening, but after consultation with the Church Court’s senior officials and gathering public opinion, a decision was made to renovate and permanently preserve it, adding portraits and related books of past Saintesses for the public’s rest and reading.

Many Magicians are drawn to it by its reputation.

‘After all, the Gleaming Scales stayed in that chapel for more than a year, he’d be happy if it can be preserved.’

Unlike the Hero, who shut her eyes and opened them to discover another chapel, the Gleaming Scale Serpent really stationed there for over a year, daily clad in a priest robe, receiving an endless stream of congregants.

Although he has accompanied her through many places, never actively demanded anything, if he didn’t like doing this, he could always guard there in the form of an Elemental Spirit.

For Elemental Spirits, a year is just a fleeting moment.

It seems the Gleaming Scales himself quite enjoys the work of a Cleric. After all, even as a serpent, his social skills could be said to be exceptional, not only danced to court the self he first met (serpent), but also enjoyed chatting with other magic creatures, such as the Slime King.

Recalling the taste of Woodland Pudding, the Hero couldn’t help but lick her lips, turned into a gust of evening wind, and lightly made her way down the corridor towards the dining hall.
