Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle-Chapter 700: Tundra’s Bombs
Chapter 700: Tundra’s Bombs
Tundra’s expression hardened as he heard this. He tapped the comm-crystal that he had brought with him.
"Report. Visual confirmation?"
The voice crackled back.
"Yes, sir! It’s not a standard horde. They’re fast with irregular movements—multiple limbs—three tongues... ahhh... they’re climbing over each other... They’re a bit intelligent. Or someone’s commanding them."
Another voice chimed in. It was an elven scout this time.
"Commander Tundra... We have eyes on the horde. We’ve never seen these creatures before. Their skulls resemble Siren Zombies—elongated, with sound organs—but their tongues... they’re like three whips. We believe they’re a new variant. Possibly a fusion between Licker and Siren types."
Tundra’s eyes narrowed. He finally had the time to exercise. Although the Zombies were actually an unknown species, it was not that surprising for him. After all, this could happen whenever a Zombie Wave ended.
"How many?"
"At least fifty of them, but there’s probably a leader type lurking around... Right, there are also standard zombies mixed into the horde. They’re probably about a hundred. It may increase as we can’t see the end yet."
Tundra no longer hesitated.
"Raise the Barrier. Level 3."
"Red alert—everyone to combat positions. Man the flamethrowers. Charge the mounted guns."
"Super Soldiers to the walls. Elves—focus on rooftop sniping and ranged containment. Mechanics, activate all the Warden Units... Medics, pre-position triage."
He commanded everyone with a practiced manner.
Everyone had been in so many Zombie Waves already, and this was nothing new to them. Just like that, the shelter snapped into motion like a machine.
Bells continued to ring to warn the civilians or production workers to take care of themselves.
Soon, a pulse of energy passed through the whole shelter. This barrier had the same technology they were using with Aegis-04 Bastion.
It was definitely a strong shield that could protect them against high-tier Zombies, and the most important of all, they could use projectiles from the inside, and the barrier wouldn’t hinder them.
Soon, the guards at the outer perimeter saw a translucent dome rising to shield the shelter.
Machine gun nests had then begun to rotate, flamethrowers were also prepared, as fuel lines were pumped and primed. Then, the engineer activated all the remaining Warden Units.
Well, only about 30 or so were kept active, while 20 more Units were kept inactive.
From the rooftops, the five Elves took position. Their Epic-Grade Crossbows were already loaded with piercing bolts—each enchanted with elemental enhancements. No verbal commands were needed. They moved like shadows.
Soon, Tundra made his way to a watchtower where he could observe the battlefield and also provide support if necessary.
Of course, he had done this after sending a messenger to Shane, telling them that they were being attacked. It was also to warn every other shelter that might also encounter an attack from the new Zombie Variant.
The creatures were fast—too fast for average zombies.
They leapt through the treetops while their tongues lashed forward to destroy most blockades, including traps that they had arranged.
Those traps weren’t simple at all. They were upgraded using the Item Upgrade Crystals and were all Exceptional or Master grade. However, seeing how they were easily destroyed by those tongues, Tundra was able to assess their strength.
"They’re quite strong..." He muttered.
He watched as some of them screeched, and a wave of sonic pressure that could surely shatter glass disoriented the soldiers guarding the walls.
Thankfully, the Warden Units weren’t too affected. They had already been updated and could now resist such attacks.
"They’ve got sound-based attacks confirmed. Protective Tokens can fend them off." Another Elven Scout reported.
This was good news. Everyone has Protective Tokens, and with their activation, which only costs 8 Spirit Points, they were able to fight against these new Zombies.
"I guess even Shane realized how dangerous Sound Attacks are that dangerous..." Tundra muttered as he glanced in the direction of the Zombies
"Super Soldiers. Lead the assault..." Tundra commanded.
Of course, he wouldn’t just watch this battle, unlike Shane, who loved to watch the battle first.
He was Tundra, and he liked explosions!
Soon, he looked at the traces of his Invisible Bombs...
There were about 30 of them marked outside.
Well, with his current ability, he could only plant 75 invisible bombs. He had a few bombs in his inventory, too, and had an extra 20 slots in case he had to use a different type of bomb depending on this situation.
After all, he had five types of bombs.
They were Explosive Fire, Silenced Concussive Bomb, Graviton Imploder, Cryo-Stasis Charge, and Corrosive Venom Bomb.
[ Explosive Fire Bomb: A strong explosive bomb that detonates with a fiery blast, incinerating enemies within a medium radius. Leaves behind a burning ground for several seconds.
Cost: 5 Spirit Points ]
[ Silenced Concussive Bomb: Emits a powerful shockwave without producing a loud explosion. Stuns enemies, disorients senses, and knocks back targets.
Cost: 10 Spirit Points ]
[ Graviton Imploder: Generates a sudden gravitational pull that draws nearby enemies inward before collapsing with a heavy implosion.
Cost: 50 Spirit Points ]
[ Cryo-Stasis Charge: Releases a freezing burst that slows movement and reaction times. Living target caught at the center may be temporarily frozen solid.
Cost: 20 Spirit Points ]
[ Corrosive Venom Bomb: Detonates into a mist of corrosive toxins that eat through armor, flesh, and mutated tissues. Lingers briefly as a hazard zone.
Cost: 20 Spirit Points ]
With these types of bombs in his arsenal, he had many options he could use depending on his situation.
This time, however, he believed that the cheap Explosive Fire Bomb should be more than enough.
After all, aside from his bombs, he also had a title he obtained after becoming the 11th Zombie Lord Killer.
[ Dreadmaw’s Scourge: Increases any type of explosive damage by 12% and grants a 10% boost to damage against regenerating-type Zombies. ]
This title suited him a lot, and with this, he had the confidence to win this battle.
"Alright... Whoever kills that Zombie First and gets its name, report it immediately to me, and you’ll be rewarded." Tundra shouted as he was also curious about this new Zombie.
