Claire’s warning came just in time.

"Get down!" she shouted.

The team dropped instantly, and a plasma bolt tore through the air above them, smashing into the sewer wall.

Boom!

The explosion shook the tunnel, and it sprayed dust and debris.

From the smoke ahead, shadows moved.

There were seven Sentinels waiting in the sewers!

"They’re not here before..."

"How did they even get here?!"

"Shit... Our plasma rifles are gone..."

Everyone was terrified as the Sentinels’ glowing optics focused on their group with their rifles raised...

Immediately, Kai threw a smoke grenade... It should buy them time to get deeper into the sewer, but the enemies still fired!

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Thankfully, no one was hit as they all jumped to the side!

Then, behind the Sentinel, the Hounds started rushing!

"Shit..."

Kai frowned as he realized the situation. "They’ve really tracked us."

Without any instruction from Kai, the group fired their revolvers!

Bang! Bang!

However, despite the volley of attacks, the Sentinels kept advancing with their armor barely scratched.

One Hound pounced forward, faster than the rest, and slammed Terrence to the ground. Its claws dug into the floor, and it was inches from his chest!

"Terrence!" Claire screamed.

She fired her revolver, but the bullets bounced off the Hound’s reinforced armor...

The beast ignored Claire since its detectors locked onto Terrence’s body heat.

It was at this point that Claire heard the spirit’s voice whispering inside her mind...

"Call me. Let me in. Or he dies."

Claire’s heart pounded. She had sworn never to use it this early... Her Health Points had barely improved after all.

She knew that the cost of using the Spirit’s Possession was her Health Point permanently being reduced!

However, Terrence’s terrified eyes met hers, and her hesitation vanished.

"Fine!" she shouted. "Do it!"

Kai heard Claire’s words and thought nothing of it first... However, he soon felt the changes around her using his Keen Sense!

Kai even momentarily paused shooting as he noticed what was happening...

With his skill, he knew every change happening around Claire!

After a few moments, dark energy surged through her body.

Kai had no idea that a mysterious spirit had already poured into her veins, filling her body or muscles with unnatural strength.

Suddenly, her eyes glowed faintly, and her aura changed! Her previously calm demeanor changed as she emitted a heavy, oppressive, and seemingly inhuman aura!

Kai wanted to question her but she suddenly charged forward and she moved faster than anyone could follow!

In just a moment, Claire grabbed the Hound by its neck and ripped it off Terrence with one hand.

Clank!

Metal screeched as her grip crushed its frame.

With a roar, she slammed it into the wall, shattering its sensors.

Bam!

Just like that, sparks burst as the machine collapsed into pieces!

The others froze, stunned by the sudden turn of events!

"Claire...?" Kai muttered, disbelief in his voice.

"What happened to her?"

"Is that really her Physical Strengthening Talent?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"Maybe she’s using a lot of Spirit Points right now!"

"We should assist her!"

"This doesn’t look like an Uncommon Talent. This is definitely a Superior or even a higher-ranked talent!"

They were all curious but she didn’t stop. Another Sentinel charged forward, rifle raised...

However, Claire positioned herself near a Hound and they actually stopped shooting as expected.

Then, when the others still tried aiming at her, she met them head-on!

She dashed forward and struck her fist into the nearest Sentinel’s chest!

Thud!

The steel armor caved in like paper, and the machine was thrown back into the sewer wall.

Bam!

At this point, Kai and everyone else didn’t know how to react. It was as if Claire was possessed by a mighty warrior!

She even threw her hatchets, jamming the hands of the Sentinels and stopping them from using their rifles!

Everything happened so quickly!

"Support her!" Kai suddenly said as they decided to fight in close combat.

They also drew their hatchets, ready to break the machine apart!

However, Claire was not slowing down!

Her movements were brutal and unstoppable. Every strike shattered metal, and her every kick sent machines flying! It was a terrifying sight.

But during all this time, they had no idea that the spirit’s possession made her a monster among humans.

Yet her life force was burning away. It didn’t even take that long before her chest tightened as she felt her health slipping permanently.

She knew the cost, but she couldn’t stop now!

"Cover me!" Claire shouted as she retreated for a moment to rest.

Kai didn’t hesitate as he switched his blade to a gun once again...

In just a few moments, his team opened fire, forcing the machines to be on the defensive.

Even Claire managed to tear through another Hound while supposedly resting. She really tore its sensors apart with her bare hands.

But more Sentinels were coming!

Furthermore, they should’ve attracted the attention of the enemies outside. They must hurry and leave the place quickly!

Kai frowned at the situation... "We can’t hold them!"

However, Claire’s mysterious spirit whispered, "Push further. I can break them all."

Having no other choice, Claire could only agree! They needed to stop them here!

"Then let’s go!" she growled under her breath.

She smashed another Sentinel aside, then turned to Kai. "Go! I’ll clear the path!"

Kai hesitated, but her aura left no room for argument.

He nodded. "Everyone, move!"

The team sprinted deeper into the sewer while Claire stayed behind...

She simply relied on her fists pounding against steel that could force the machines back!

’Ugh... I’m getting tired.’ Claire thought as every strike drained her, but she didn’t care at this point!

Finally, she broke through the last wave, crushing a Sentinel’s head in her grip and hurling it into the flames!

Claire then stumbled... Her strength was already fading as the spirit withdrew.

’Hey... You have to exercise more! I can’t even last for the whole duration!’ The mysterious spirit complained.

But Claire couldn’t entertain the spirit anymore... She just ignored the spirit since her body felt weaker... and after a few seconds, she passed out!

’Shit...’ This was the only thing on her mind.

Thankfully, as soon as she woke up, she noticed that she was saved and everyone was staring at her.

Before she could thank them, Ralph whispered.

"Claire... That wasn’t Physical Strengthening. What the hell was that?"
