Global Disaster: I Will Slay Gods In This Second Chance!-Chapter 41: Hidden Sun
Under the bright glare of the sun, Michael took a deep breath before laughing!
"You’re amazing as always, Zold Starks! Truly!"
However, not a trace of warmth or joy could be felt from his laughter.
Instead, it was like a boiling pot, ready to burst out in fury.
His arms suddenly tightened, threatening to pop out of his suit.
He lowered his head silently, his pupils turning dark red.
"Can you remind me? It’s been so long, after all."
Then, a heavy pressure suddenly released from Michael’s body, twisting the space around them!
Crack!
The steel bench cracked, fractures spreading across its surface.
Zold quietly glanced at Michael, his expression indifferent.
A dark red aura condensed from Michael’s presence, flowing outside of his body like a tide.
Wherever the aura flowed, its overwhelming intensity caused space to twist, objects to crumble, and living beings to suffocate!
This was Michael’s Release!
Under the weight of his presence, anyone who wasn’t in the same realm would be immediately crushed into mush!
Michael had reached the Vital Spark stage!
"Why bother?" Zold sighed.
But from his body, a calm, ethereal aura slowly spread out like a calm puddle.
It directly collided with Michael’s Release.
Compared to Michael’s intense aura, the ethereal aura released by Zold seemed insignificant in comparison.
But instead of being overwhelmed, the intensity of the dark red aura seemingly sank in the vastness of Zold’s aura.
The dark red aura showed signs of being subdued, as the ethereal aura seemed to slowly and forcefully merge with it.
Michael’s expression faintly changed, increasing his Release!
Finally, the ethereal aura and the dark red aura formed a balance.
Michael’s smile vanished, replaced by a deep frown.
The two gazed at each other silently.
Just as it seemed as if the silence exploded, Michael suddenly narrowed his eyes. His expression broke out into a genuine smile.
"You didn’t disappoint me, Zold."
Zold shook his head, staying silent.
No other person suited the honorary title "Beyond" than Michael Reegan.
Truly, beyond arrogant.
"But..."
At that moment, Michael shifted his gaze and looked at the person who was standing on their right.
Zold glanced at the person, seemingly unsurprised.
That’s right—while the two of them clashed, this person was already standing there, watching them without their knowledge.
No, even before they had even clashed or sat on the bench, this person had already been standing in that same position.
The person was a thin man with straight blonde hair. He was rather short, around 5’7 feet tall. He looked exceptionally striking, and an air of calmness surrounded him.
He had Hasian features, seemingly a native of Nihono.
He had an appearance that would make people take a second look, but right now, it seemed as if his existence phased through people’s minds.
Compared to the two of them, his presence seemed invisible, yet being able to stand near them suggests he wasn’t as simple as he seemed.
"I thought it would be Emperor Ye, but it’s you. Hidden Sun Nagito."
Michael smiled casually, then cursed him.
"Sneaky as always."
Nagito smiled back, his expression bright.
"You flatter me, Beyond."
Michael fell silent. He narrowed his eyes, thinking for a moment.
The fact that Nagito was able to arrive near them without him sensing showed that his stage had definitely reached the Vital Spark stage as well.
But...
He glanced at Zold, seeing no surprise on the man’s face, as if he had already known from the very beginning.
For a brief moment, Michael wanted to attack and see if the man’s indifference would remain.
But the moment he thought of that, Zold suddenly glanced at him, a small smile suddenly appearing on his face.
It was as if he was taunting him to try.
But Michael was arrogant, not stupid. He couldn’t help but laugh, finding everything to be so interesting all of a sudden.
"I hope you can still keep that indifferent face on you until the end."
Michael stood up, glancing at Zold with a smile.
"Life is boring without rivals, you know?"
As if Nagito wasn’t worth a second glance, Michael strutted away, returning to the building.
When his back disappeared from their view, Nagito glanced at Zold.
"Long time no see, Zold."
Nagito said calmly.
Zold nodded slightly. "Hidden Sun. How did things work out in Nihono?"
"It’s fine, but it’s getting difficult." Nagito mused. "You know our situation. Unlike the other nations, we have more unnatural-type monsters."
Awakeners in Nihono were called Demon Hunters precisely because of this.
Unnatural-type monsters resembled evil spirits and demons more than ordinary beasts.
Zold had fought one before—the Deep Cult Tree—but after it, he didn’t encounter another one.
They were usually rare, yet in certain nations like Nihono, they appeared everywhere.
"Did you join Morgana’s alliance?" Zold suddenly asked.
"No," Nagito shook his head. "It’s more beneficial for us if the Second Era Ending Disaster comes sooner."
Zold realized what he meant quickly.
"That makes sense. You’ll kill it, then?"
"Yes, but not now." Nagito shook his head. "There’s no point. In 3 months, whether Morgana would agree or not, I’ll kill the World Elephant."
Zold smiled. "Beyond might do it in the first month."
"Morgana would stop him." Nagito chuckled. "He can’t."
"What makes you think Morgana won’t stop you?" Zold asked, raising his brows.
"Oh, she’ll try." Nagito shook his head. "But she can never catch me. Even if she brings the others."
But then, he added. "Unless..."
He paused, glancing at Zold quietly.
"If it’s you, then it’s a different matter entirely." Nagito sighed.
"How different?" Zold smiled.
"Hmm, if I was 100% confident of my chances before..." Nagito rubbed his chin. "Then, it’ll be 99% if you’re there."
Zold was taken aback, shaking his head.
"Sounds like you’re confident. It barely changed."
"Barely?" Nagito tilted his head, smiling casually. "Does it seem that way?"
Zold didn’t answer him. He stood up, wanting to get a drink.
"I’m getting thirsty. I’ll go on ahead."
Nagito glanced at his back, not stopping him.
But before Zold left, he suddenly asked. "How about you? Are you not tempted by the reward?"
However, Zold didn’t stop walking, ignoring his question entirely.
By the time Zold’s back had disappeared, Nagito had already vanished, as if he had never there in the first place.
