Global Game: Developing a Knight Clan-Chapter 69: Version Update and Second Round Qualification
[Version 2.0 Update Notice:
1. As a Player has successfully reached Tier Five, the hidden cutscene, "The Twilight of the Gods and Their Echo," has been triggered. The second wave of closed beta access will now be distributed ahead of schedule. Three hundred thousand slots will be made available in this wave via an in-game lottery system. The lottery will open at 6:00 PM tomorrow.
(Note 1: To ensure the fair and just distribution of game access, this lottery will be unaffected by real-world network fluctuations. That is, the True Game official website can be accessed even without an internet connection.)
(Note 2: The "Twilight of the Gods and Their Echo" cutscene has been uploaded to all major platforms via the official account. Those who are interested may view it at their discretion.)
2. Second Closed Beta Preview: A new major map (New World) will be unlocked. The new map’s gameplay, power progression system, and background civilization style will not deviate from the first closed beta map by more than three percent. The three hundred thousand Players will be randomly deployed to the two existing maps at a 1:2 ratio.
3. As the game is entering a new phase, and in consideration of the impact of game time on Players’ schedules, after this version update, there will be a three-day interval between the end of one session and the start of the next. That is, the True Game will reopen at 8:00 AM on the day after the 72-hour period following an Inference Day.
4. As the game is entering a new phase, the real-world Player inventory function is now enabled. This means Players can now bring items, such as Extraordinary Artifacts, out of the game. The number of items that can be carried is directly tied to a Player’s in-game Equivalent Tier. Players are encouraged to discover the specifics on their own. (Note: The inventory cannot be used to store real-world items.)
5. As the game is entering a new phase, a trading function is now available on the Player forums. This feature is designed to protect Player privacy, allowing Players to trade with one another. The game forum will not collect any fees for this service; all trades are based on the mutual consent of the parties involved and can be conducted freely.
(Note 1: To protect Player privacy, the game forum will provide every Player with a free "Game Funds" account. This account is shielded from all forms of tracking. All financial transactions during a trade can be handled by the forum’s trading function. This means Players do not need to transfer funds to their personal bank accounts; they can conduct real-world online and offline transactions directly by simply willing the Game Funds account to do so.)
(Warning: With this trading function now live, any malicious real-world attempt to track the flow of Player funds will be considered a hostile act against the ’True Game.’ The ’True Game’ administration reserves the right to, without limitation, directly destroy and/or assume control of real-world financial systems in response.)
6. As the game has successfully performed a minor rule-synchronization with reality, the Power of all active Players’ Ability Cards is now liberated by an additional 10%. The daily usage duration has been increased to two hours and thirty minutes.
7. To acknowledge the contributions of the first closed beta Players, True Game will issue rewards to active Players, tailored to their individual playstyles. All rewards are scaled directly with the Player’s power. Players may view the specific details after logging into the game.
8. As the sudden server maintenance for this update has disrupted the plans and strategies of many Players, for this Inference Day (Day 500), True Game will grant Players who failed this session access to the second round of the game. Additionally, they will be allowed to carry over a portion of their Abilities directly to their new Character Card.
A Gentle Reminder: Due to the game’s minor rule-synchronization with reality, the first batch of Extraordinary Life will soon emerge on Blue Star. All things have the opportunity to become Extraordinary. We urge all Players to be mindful of their own safety.]
???
When Lince followed the game link to the official True Game website and finished reading the patch notes, he was completely stunned.
’They’ve really gone and done it this time, huh?’
’The second round of access is opening already?’
’Three hundred thousand slots!’
Compared to the Human Alliance’s population of ten billion, it was just a drop in the bucket, but it was still much better than the first round. At least they had tripled the number of slots this time.
’What’s more, after distributing access for the second round, the True Game is actually opening a new map?’
’Players will be sent to the two maps at a 1:2 ratio?’
’In other words, of the three hundred thousand Players, one hundred thousand will be sent to the world of the Oakland Continent, and the other two hundred thousand will be deployed to the New World?’
According to the patch notes, the overall style of civilization on this new map, the New World, was supposed to be extremely similar to that of the Oakland Continent.
Just how similar it would be was anyone’s guess, and Lince couldn’t begin to speculate.
Lince was actually fine with the first two points. After playing for a few days, he’d long since realized that the True Game was anything but simple. He was sure its maps wouldn’t be limited to the Oklar Continent, especially considering how fast he himself was progressing.
’Even if you chalked it up to good luck, there had to be a limit to that kind of progress.’
While good luck had certainly been a factor in Lince’s rapid improvement, the game’s high Equivalent Tier ceiling was surely another.
Lince didn’t know how hard it was to go from Tier Five to godhood, but at his current rate of progress, it was undeniably, excessively fast.
Therefore, opening a new map surely meant more gameplay awaited him and the other Players.
So, for Lince, this wasn’t a huge deal.
As for the third update notice, however, Lince was delighted.
After all, playing once every single day was just too intense; he had to keep his mind wound tight around the clock.
’How could anyone keep that up long-term?’
It was one thing for someone like Lince, who had an income without needing to work.
But for those who might not have money or an income? The game was simply too demanding on their time.
In that regard, the best part of this update was the sudden activation of the inventory and trading functions.
The moment these two features went live, they immediately solved the problem most Players had with self-preservation and even income.
Their significance was immense.
In particular, the final warning about the trading function... The True Game’s notice was tantamount to taking a dump on the Human Alliance’s head.
’But what could the Human Alliance possibly do about it?’
No joke! If the banking and financial systems were destroyed, or even taken over, what would the Human Alliance have left?
Even if the Human Alliance gave up online transactions and returned to the "old days" of purely paper currency, it wouldn’t necessarily help. They’d likely just face some other tactic from the True Game.
In short, this was a massive development. The Human Alliance didn’t even dare to utter a peep in response at first.
It was a true higher-dimensional attack! There was no counter.
At this point, it was as if a colossal bully had just parachuted onto Blue Star.
This bully couldn’t care less about the interests of Blue Star’s native powers, nor did it give a damn what they did. All of Its actions were taken solely for the benefit of Its newly recruited "minions."
For the sake of these "minions," It might even be willing to directly destroy Blue Star’s most powerful native faction!
Faced with such a transcendent existence, the Human Alliance could only choose to remain silent.
As for the subsequent liberation of Character Card Abilities, the extended usage time, and even the so-called synchronization with reality that would give rise to Extraordinary Life... none of it seemed strange to Lince anymore.
The mystery and power of the True Game had already surpassed human comprehension, and Lince was simply going with the flow.
Although this version update was directly related to him... even if it hadn’t been him, wouldn’t it just have been someone else?
Therefore, as he looked over the game’s update notes, Lince actually began to calm down.
To refuse a gift from the heavens is to invite calamity; to fail to act when the time is right is to welcome disaster.
Lince had simply made the choice he was supposed to make at the right time, adapting to the changing era.
And so, with his mind at ease, Lince immediately turned his attention to the rewards he had earned.
