Chapter 937: For the Curtain Call, The End of the World as we Know It (28).
His mind nestled within the darkness, Abaloth fought hard to keep the cataclysm from expanding. If he faltered for even a moment, it would swallow and destroy everything, including himself.
’That accursed human!’
He should have just killed it as fast as possible from the start.
Although it was bad, things weren’t over just yet.
Although the Devil could contain it forever, it could redirect it. With its rather vast mana supply, doing that would not be too difficult. However, it would drain a lot.
Abaloth glanced down.
The battle below was still in full swing.
"Fools!" He considered for a moment, if it was worth it to sacrifice his life for the foolish ones down below.
After all, so long as the {Broodmothers} remained alive, their ranks could be replenished at any time.
Suddenly, Abaloth’s eyes widened.
His head snapped around.
A bone-chilling screech had come from the direction of the Devil Spire.
The dying throes of a {Broodmother}.
An instinctual rage swallowed the Devil.
It let out a roar into the heavens.
To contain the cataclysmic implosion, Abaloth had abandoned his humanoid form.
Now, he truly looked the part.
An eldritch nightmarish creature of true darkness with countless black tendrils seeping out of its body.
If he wanted, he could pluck that false crimson moon out of the sky and consume it.
He looked every part of what one would expect from a dark god.
When such a creature showed rage, the entire world beneath it would tremble.
"Accursed humans! You do not deserve grace!" Abaloth roared.
Now, the Devil didn’t care.
All he wanted was to wipe out these human pests.
He redirected the sphere of calamity towards the ground, the darkness behind him unfurling in his rage.
And then—
A wonderful golden streak filled Abaloth’s vision.
The Devil could barely processs what happened, as the next moment, his body shot into the sky and vanished into the clouds alongside the ball of destruction it had contained.
With the expansion of Urbus, the skies overhead had becomes immeasurably vast as well. Countless times vaster that the ground.
The uncountable wells of god ash entrenched within the sky made for an incredibly mana rich, to the point where it was borderline toxic, environment.
As his body barreled into the sky, Abaloth muttered a spell. The space around him stabilized instantly, and he came to a halt.
In his true form, Abaloth was a rather enormous, frightening thing. A bit larger than even a behemoth sized {Greater Flame Devil}.
There shouldn’t have been anything capable of throwing him back so easily.
The skies above were dark. A mysterious darkness different from elemental darkness.
Within it, there were soft, glittering motes of light, drifting everywhere like fireflies.
Under his breath, Abaloth continued chanting.
Slowly, the Magic Wheel materialized behind it.
The space around it collapsed almost instantly to reveal the creature that had brought him here.
Abaloth froze.
Leathery wings flapping in the wind.
An enormous body covered in golden black scales.
A crown of horns upon its serpentine head.
Claws sharp enough to shave diamonds, and an open maw ready to spit out an unholy conflagration of flames.
’A creature of golden black...’
The color of the beast’s scales was a gleaming golden hue. However, for some reason, the scales didn’t reflect light at all, making them appear black at the same time.
This created an otherworldly contrast of colors that played on his sight far more than the Devil had thought was possible.
Abaloth put a shield up.
The molten ball of flames, tinged with a gold and crimson hue shot forward like a laser with an air-cracking boom, piercing right through the barrier and into the Devil’s torso.
’Wha—’
With a single flap, the creature shot towards him even faster than the attack.
Mind spinning, Abaloth roared as he summoned a field of spatial blades.
Sparks filled the sky followed by a grain of golden ichor as the spatial blades sliced through the creature.
But it did little to stop it.
With a flash of golden radiance, the creature shrugged the blades off whilst launching a furious offensive.
Inky black tendrils flying, Abaloth tried to bind the creature, but they were brutally torn apart.
Finally, the creature’s clenched fists smashed into his face, sending him rolling back again.
Unrelenting, it followed after his body, and dug into his shoulders with its claws.
Itself throat glowed as it prepared another breath attack.
Abaloth let out a furious. The pool of darkness that were his eyes swirled.
The Mana in the air crackled and popped.
Th Magic Wheel spun by a step.
An enormous spatial blade appeared, splitting through the sky and reality.
The creature raised its head and shot the breath attack at the spatial blade.
For a moment, the entire sky was lit up. Hh shockwave of the explosion sent the pearly blankets drifting away.
The tendrils of darkness hardened and stabbed into the creature’s torso.
A rain of golden ichor fell from the skies as it let out a roar of pain.
Furooi, it stretched its maw open and bit down on Abaloth’s neck.
With a desperate cry of pain, Abaloth ignited the Devil Essence in him.
Devil Essence would rot and destroy this vile beast from the inside out.
At least, that was how it was supposed to go.
However, instead of it to collapse into a pile of smoldering rot and cancer, the creature greedily sucked in more.
Abaloth mouth widened in horror,
"No! Get away from me!" He roared as the tendrils of his darkness beat against and tore at the creature’s flesh, mangling and breaking it.
But it did nothing to quell its hunger.
Instead, it clenched its jaws harder and began to chew.
Abaloth roared in horror once again as he activated the most powerful spell in his arsenal.
The world began to ripple—
’No.’
The spell failed.
The Magic Wheel behind the {Void Tyrant Devil} unraveled and faded away.
With his claws, he scratched and pushed, but there was no way he could stop it.
And so, right there...
In the sky right above the City of Zoan;
Abaloth, the {Void Tyrant Devil}, a creature of immense power and malignant might that could have made the entire world of Urbus tremble in the depths of darkness...
Was feasted upon. Torn apart limb from limb, even as the darkness swirling away in the depths of its soul faded away.
As the last of its life was consumed, the Devil looked up into the vast sky.
The orb of destruction it has managed to keep at bay up until now was finally released.
Swallowing them both...
As well as a portion of the Evernight sky.
Pop...
