God of Technology: Creating the Internet in Another World-Chapter 372: Need to Change Our Thinking
The projector inventor and the other long-term lab residents all looked awkward again. They’d finally started talking about serious stuff—how did the conversation suddenly go off the rails? This wasn’t right!
"Um, why don’t you just tell us directly—this battle armor, how would you solve the energy problem for giant battle armor? From my understanding, giant battle armor would consume even more energy than regular battle armor. After all, when it moves around, it’d use even more power than a battle vehicle."
One of the researchers changed the subject. "Would you put a bunch of energy storage runes inside the giant battle armor?"
"But energy storage runes themselves represent weight. The more storage runes you have, the more energy you consume when moving. It feels... it feels kind of like a losing proposition."
"You guys, your thinking is too rigid." The apprentice was helpless. "Who says energy has to come from storage runes? Where does the magic power in storage runes come from?"
"Of course from self-charging arrays..." the projector inventor answered instinctively.
But before he could finish, his expression had already gone stiff.
Everyone looked like they’d seen a ghost.
"You guys didn’t know this? Self-charging arrays! With battle armor that huge, you could build tons of self-charging arrays in one section, and energy storage runes in another. When it’s operating, the self-charging arrays and storage runes output magic power simultaneously to ensure smooth combat or movement. In non-combat mode, the self-charging arrays can send excess magic power to the storage rune section for later use."
The apprentice continued, "Isn’t this the optimal solution? On top of that, you could set different power levels. Like, level one uses this many self-charging arrays providing power, level two uses this many, level three triggers the storage runes."
"Also, don’t self-charging arrays need strengthening too? We’ve already enhanced them through two versions. What if we develop something even better? Wouldn’t that be even better?"
"And worst-case scenario, after intense combat when both are depleted, just manually replace them—like the earliest battle vehicles did."
The apprentice’s words stunned everyone.
You could actually do it that way?
It seemed like you really could.
You definitely could!
If they could strengthen the self-charging arrays again, or stack them together, the results would definitely be even better.
Massive battle armor—some areas with self-charging arrays, some with storage runes, and the remaining areas could be various functional zones: cockpit, weapons bay, and so on.
When necessary, they could even store supplies inside.
What’s a war machine?
This was a real war machine!
Even if they didn’t use super powerful weapons later—like this oversized cannon—and just used regular magic, it’d still be like having a mobile fortress.
If they fought against a regular army, they wouldn’t even need to attack much. They could just run over and who knows how many enemies they’d trample to death.
As for it being so huge and difficult to operate... don’t forget what the Technology Combat Cleric system was for.
Once someone became a Technology Combat Cleric, they could directly use god-given power to control all the magic conductors in their hands.
No matter how big or hard to control it was, as long as Technology Combat Clerics used it, they’d control it like their own limbs. There wouldn’t be any problems at all.
Right then, everyone got excited.
They seemed to have found a new direction.
Over the next period of time, basically all the researchers at Roster Territory Group Company mobilized. Except for rest time, they were all researching this super-large battle armor.
And then.
Their efforts moved the God of Technology.
Of course, this was definitely Ren doing it on purpose.
They successfully obtained the basic mech blueprints.
Progress instantly skyrocketed.
Everyone became even more motivated.
They’d just thought of an idea, and the God of Technology could directly grant them a complete solution—how amazing was that!
And while they were focused on building mechs, the livestream convoy had already entered the western territory of the kingdom.
After leaving Roster territory and the surrounding areas, the roads they traveled started getting a bit rough.
Potholes and overgrown weeds everywhere.
If they encountered regular obstacles, they basically just drove right over them, at most slowing down a bit to get through. If they ran into longer or bigger obstacles, they’d send magicians to roughly fix up the road first.
But even so, the livestream viewers were watching with great interest and didn’t think anything of it.
"Being able to get through those regular roadsides, and even some damaged road surfaces, is already pretty incredible."
"Yeah, the areas magicians had to fix—those places would probably be hard even for people to walk through. You can only blame the local lords for being incompetent, only blame the kingdom for having problems. You definitely can’t blame the vehicles’ performance."
"Honestly, those areas where nobody’s walked for years and it’s full of potholes—even horse carts might not be able to get through. The fact that these vehicles can make it is already pretty amazing."
"Actually, if you think back, along the way we’ve seen roads being repaired intermittently. Those noble lords also know there are problems with the roads—they just never fix them."
"I believe these problems will get much better in the future, unless they don’t plan to change with the times. The magic-tech industrialization starting from Roster territory will definitely cover most places eventually, because everyone thinks this can make money."
"True. My place used to be this backwater where people often starved to death. Ever since the lord bought some magic-tech machinery from Roster territory, most people in the territory got jobs. Roads and everything around us got better. Every day there’s a steady stream of vehicles coming to pick up goods."
"We’re already in the western territory. Looks like the first leg of the route is almost done!"
"Wonder if they’ll meet up with Wool Ryan from the Wool Guild. After all, they’re both Magic Net celebrities that lots of people follow."
Many people were pretty sharp—they knew how the future would develop. Although the roads now might have some issues, who could say about later?
As magic-tech industrialization progressed, roads would become necessities. If anyone wanted to make that money, they’d have to do this.
And they’d need to maintain them well too.
Probably wouldn’t be long before these crappy roads became super rare exceptions.
Besides, the convoy’s performance had already exceeded many people’s expectations.
Whether it was the terrain they covered or the speed they maintained, it was all pretty remarkable.
Just as people were excitedly discussing this, in the western territory’s main city, Wool Ryan watched the livestream and those bullet comments, and suddenly an idea popped into his head. "Father, what do you think—could I start a livestream and go meet the convoy at the city gate? That way, wouldn’t our next moves feel more natural?"
