Chapter 109: 109: Are you a Virgin- Part 4 (r18)
Elder Erin’s patience snapped. "Enough!" His voice cut through the disarray like a whip. The entire group froze. "Behave yourselves! We are here to handle the situation, not create more chaos."
The enforcers stiffened, quickly straightening their postures. With that settled, Elder Erin turned to Zane, kneeling beside him. He placed two fingers on Zane’s forehead and sent a small pulse of magic through him, scanning his condition. The energy signature was unstable but not life-threatening. His body had been through a horrific transformation, but he was recovering.
"He’ll survive," Elder Erin muttered. "For now."
Satisfied that Zane wasn’t about to die on him, the elder turned to Ethan, who was still bound by Liam’s spell.
Elder Erin folded his arms and narrowed his eyes. "Now then. Tell me what happened here. What did you do?"
Ethan clenched his jaw, his entire body rigid with defiance. He refused to answer. His silence filled the air with tension, and one of the other mages, clearly fed up with the situation, stepped forward.
"Should we make him talk?" The mage cracked his knuckles, his magic crackling faintly.
Elder Erin’s sharp glare snapped to him immediately. "No. We do things properly, not like criminals." His voice was firm, leaving no room for argument.
The mage hesitated before stepping back. Ethan, however, continued his silence.
Elder Erin sighed. "You should think carefully about your future, Ethan. This will not end well for you if you keep acting like a fool."
Ethan’s lips pressed into a thin line, but he did not respond.
For now, Elder Erin had other priorities. He gestured to two enforcers. "Take them both into custody. We’ll deal with the details later."
The mages nodded, moving to secure both Ethan and the unconscious Zane. With the situation under control, Elder Erin turned toward the entrance. His expression remained neutral, but inwardly, he was already thinking ahead.
This wasn’t over.
Liam Returns Home freeωebnovēl.c૦m
By the time Liam reached home, exhaustion hit him like a crashing wave. He barely made it through the front door before he collapsed onto his bed, completely drained.
Asger curled up beside him, letting out a tired grunt. "That was an exhausting mess," he muttered.
Liam hummed in agreement, but he was too tired to respond properly. Within moments, he drifted into a deep sleep.
The next morning, sunlight filtered through the window, waking Liam up earlier than he wanted. He groaned and stretched before dragging himself out of bed. His body felt sore, likely from the stress of yesterday’s battle.
Still, school was waiting for him, so he got dressed and headed downstairs.
As soon as he reached the kitchen, he spotted Elder Erin sitting at the dining table, sipping tea.
"Good morning," Elder Erin greeted, his tone as neutral as ever.
Liam raised an eyebrow. It wasn’t often that Elder Erin was waiting for him like this. "Something wrong?"
Elder Erin set his teacup down and nodded. "School has been canceled for the time being."
That caught Liam off guard. "What? Why?"
"Because of what happened yesterday." Elder Erin’s gaze was steady. "And more importantly, you’ve been called in for questioning about the incident."
Liam blinked, then shrugged. "Alright. That’s not surprising."
Elder Erin studied him for a moment. "You don’t seem worried."
"I’m not." Liam grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl and took a bite. "I have nothing to hide. I’ll just tell them what happened."
Elder Erin’s lips twitched slightly, almost like he was amused. "Good. Then let’s get going."
With that, they left the house, heading toward the questioning that awaited them.
______
Elder Erin led Liam through the grand hallways of the council building, the air thick with authority and the weight of centuries-old traditions.
Liam walked beside him, keeping his expression neutral, though inwardly, he was already calculating his approach to the situation.
The council room was vast and imposing, with high ceilings and long, arched windows that cast shadows across the polished floor.
A semicircle of council members sat before him, their gazes sharp and unreadable. Elder Erin took his place to the side, but his presence alone reassured Liam.
"Liam Vale. You have been called here today to give your account of what transpired yesterday."
One of the council members, an older man with piercing blue eyes, began.
Liam nodded.
"I understand."
"Then let’s begin. Tell us everything. What was your involvement?"
Another council member, a woman with silver-streaked hair, said.
Liam took a measured breath. He had already decided how much he would reveal.
"I was invited to a group by Zane Lysander. At first, it seemed like a harmless gathering, but things took a turn when Ethan, their leader, asked me to prove myself."
Liam started, choosing his words carefully.
The council members listened intently as Liam continued.
He deliberately left out certain key details—his suspicions about the group’s true nature, the strange magic Zane had absorbed, and Asger’s warnings. Instead, he painted himself as someone who had simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"When things escalated, I realized I was in danger. I tried to leave, but Zane... changed. He lost control of his magic, and Ethan only encouraged it."
Liam went on.
One of the council members leaned forward.
"Did you fight back?"
Liam nodded.
"I had no choice. Zane was rampaging, and Ethan was watching as if it was some sort of experiment. I did what I could to subdue Zane without harming him, and as soon as I had an opportunity, I called for backup."
He glanced at Elder Erin, who remained silent but firm, his presence lending credibility to Liam’s words.
"I had already informed Elder Erin about the group before things got out of hand. That’s why he arrived so quickly to handle the situation."
Liam added.
The council exchanged glances. They were taking in his words, assessing the situation. The fact that Elder Erin had been involved made things simpler.
One of them, a younger council member, tapped their fingers against the table.
"So, you claim to be a victim in all this?"
Liam nodded.
"I never intended to be involved in anything suspicious. I was just trying to understand what was going on."
There was a long pause before the council leader finally spoke.
"Since Elder Erin was present and took responsibility for the situation, we see no reason to pursue this further. You are dismissed, Liam Vale."
Liam exhaled subtly. That was easier than he expected.
With a final nod, he turned and left, Elder Erin following close behind.
