Chapter 136: 136: Human Stalker - Part 1

"Miss, don’t hesitate to let me know if you need anything else. I will take my leave now."

Lina bowed in front of Auriel as she spoke. Her voice was soft-spoken and felt like it was barely used by the female slave.

Just seeing a human bound in chains and kept like a pet left a sense of distaste in Auriel’s mouth. But the only reason she held back was that she could not sense any demonic magic coming off her.

As far as Auriel could tell, whatever was happening in this town was consensual, and she had no right to interfere with it.

Still, Auriel could not help but feel a little uncomfortable with having a human serve her like this.

"Is it alright for you to be doing this? I am not asking to get you in trouble. Just tell me your honest thoughts. Do you think it is fine for you to be a servant to your mistress without any thoughts of your own?"

Auriel kept her voice neutral.

Somehow, she felt like she should not show too much concern in front of this doll-like human. Something about those eyes made Auriel feel odd.

"There is no need for you to worry about someone like me. My feelings are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Please, do not pay any attention to me."

Lina bowed in front of Auriel as she spoke.

Her words left Auriel stunned, but before she could ask more, Lina had taken her leave.

The human slave seemed to have made up her mind about something, and Auriel felt like she had lost her last chance to ask Lina more questions.

Sigh

"Well, this was not supposed to happen. I guess I backed that kid into a corner with my harsh questioning. I should be more careful with what questions I ask in the future."

With the human slave gone, Auriel felt like she could breathe again... not that she had anything against human slaves or anything.

"I should go to sleep now. I still have no idea why Seraphina masqueraded as Mary to bring me here or what happened to the real Mary. I should take this time to check around."

Auriel took a deep breath and tried to expand her powers. But as soon as she tried, she faced her first obstacle—Auriel could not expand her powers.

It was as if something was pressing down on her powers and keeping them suppressed. And whatever it was did not feel neutral.

"Is this demonic power? No, it doesn’t feel like it. If it were demonic power, then I would have a worse reaction than what I am currently having."

Because of that sudden burst of magic, Auriel felt like she had lost all sleep, and she decided to venture out to check what was happening.

That was a mistake.

Inside her room, it had been quiet and serene, but as soon as Auriel stepped out into the open, she was met with various noises of... passion.

No one was outside enjoying themselves, but those noises made it clear what these people were up to behind closed doors.

As much as Auriel tried not to pay attention to what was happening, she could not help but completely tune herself out, especially when she had been so sexually active not long ago.

’Come on, Auriel! There is no need to feel so thin-skinned right now. You are not some blushing virgin. Snap out of it now.’

Auriel closed her eyes and forced herself to relax. Once she felt a little calmer, she decided to walk toward the outskirts of the town and check the dungeon out once more.

She had been to the dungeon during the day, but she wanted to take another look at it during the night, all alone.

As she walked, Auriel suddenly had the feeling that someone was watching her. It made her turn back to look in the direction where she felt the stare coming from. But she could not see anyone following her.

"How weird. I was sure that someone was following me. Did I make a mistake?"

Auriel narrowed her eyes as she looked behind, but she still could not see anyone. However, instead of being relieved, she decided to keep her suspicions up and expanded her senses.

Despite not being able to use her powers, Auriel could sharpen her senses. And that made her more than certain that she was being followed.

’What a hassle. Now, what should I do? Should I catch my stalker? Or should I let them follow me a little longer before I sneak out and scare them?’

Auriel was having a real dilemma, but before she could make a decision, she felt her stalker close the distance between them quickly.

Auriel narrowed her eyes as she sensed her stalker moving closer. She was tired, frustrated, and still irritated by the way her powers had been suppressed, and now, someone had the nerve to follow her?

Her patience was running thin.

Rather than letting her stalker control the situation, she decided to turn the tables. Silently, she shifted her movements, slowing her steps, allowing the person following her to get just a little closer.

Then, in one swift motion, she pivoted, slipped behind them, and took a step forward.

She could feel the confusion radiating from her pursuer. They stopped abruptly, glancing around as if trying to locate her.

Auriel smirked.

’They have no idea where I went. Then, I should take advantage of this and surprise my stalker now.’

Just as the stalker hesitated, she reached out and clamped a firm hand on their shoulder.

A sharp inhale. A flinch. And then, as she turned them around, Auriel found herself staring into an all-too-familiar face.

"Lina?"

The human slave blinked up at her, utterly impassive. The same blank expression. The same empty gaze. It was almost eerie.

Auriel let go of her shoulder, staring at her with slight confusion.

"What are you doing here?"
