Goddess's Yuri harem: Chosing the Empress is hard-Chapter 59: The Corruption- Part 1
Chapter 59: 59: The Corruption- Part 1
"Have you still not found any clues?"
Auriel asked in a worried voice. She tried to keep her voice as neutral as she could, but worry seeped in at the end.
She had not meant to accuse anyone of anything, but her tone came across that way, making Carol flinch. Her worried expression was something that made Auriel feel uncomfortable as well.
"I apologize, Goddess Auriel. We will try harder to find clues about what happened, but it might take some more time. Even Lady Sophia is having a hard time since she needs to track down Dark Magic. But we promise you that we will give you decent results as soon as we can."
Carol promised, and she sounded so sure that Auriel had no room left to doubt or question her...
...not that she was going to do that anyway. She had faith in the people around her to be able to take care of the situation.
"I see. That is good to know. Usually, I wouldn’t even think about interfering in human affairs, but this is a different matter. It involves a goddess, so I feel worried."
Auriel did not know why she felt so disturbed by everything that was happening, but her instincts told her that trouble was headed her way.
Still, she had her powers and the people around her to help her out. That made her worry less, and Auriel was able to force her fears down.
"Don’t worry, Goddess! We will take proper measures against this new threat and neutralize it before any real harm can happen. You don’t have to feel responsible or alarmed by this."
Carol promised before she finished her report and left the room.
It was quite late at night when Auriel got that visit, and it was time for everyone to fall asleep. But for Auriel, it was going to be another sleepless night.
Or, it was supposed to be one, but Auriel had other plans for the night. She needed to report to the Chief God and tell her what was happening.
Auriel would not have usually done this, but she felt like she was obliged to when the person in question was another goddess.
Not only did the other gods need to know about this, but they also needed to keep an eye on Minerva to observe her and see if she was fine.
Auriel used her divine power to knock herself out. Sleep was a foreign concept to gods, but for Auriel, it was her security blanket and a one-way connection to her home.
She closed her eyes once, and when she opened them again, she was lying down in a familiar chamber, and she could feel an unfamiliar warmth close to her body.
Where did I end up? Shit! Did I make a mistake? The spell is not supposed to send me to such random places. Where am I—
Auriel’s panic was cut short as she felt arms sneak around her waist and pull her against a soft chest behind her back. Equally soft hands traveled all over her body, and the pressure felt just right to the point where Auriel almost let out a breathy moan.
Warm, damp air brushed against Auriel’s ear, and the presence behind her finally spoke.
"Oh my! Are you not going to pull away from me? How cute of you to do that. Does that mean I can continue doing this to you?"
The unfamiliar voice made Auriel jump from the bed, and she landed on her back while looking up at a familiar face.
"Y-You are... Goddess Shanti. What am I doing in your chambers?"
Auriel asked, as confused as she was intrigued by the goddess in front of her.
Unlike most goddesses who had a human appearance, Goddess Shanti’s body was entirely black, with speckles of star-like lights scattered across her feminine form. Her voice was feminine as well, but she did not have a specific gender.
The goddess was a mystery, even to the other goddesses, and she rarely interacted with others. That was why Auriel felt surprised to see her here.
"Don’t look so surprised, Goddess Auriel. Since you were having a hard time finding your way back, I just decided to lend you a little help. You don’t have to be so on guard in front of me."
The goddess promised, and her voice sounded as if she were smiling.
"I was... having a hard time connecting back?"
Auriel asked in a surprised and suspicious voice. To her, it had not seemed as if she struggled to connect back home. It felt like seconds had passed.
But she also knew that it was impossible to tell time in that limbo-like state.
There was no way to determine whether Goddess Shanti was telling the truth or not. The only option Auriel had was to trust the other goddess.
"Relax a little, my dear. I am not here to harm you. Come, I will help you out as much as I can."
The goddess assured but Auriel still did not feel as if she should trust the goddess.
Auriel remained tense, her muscles coiled like a spring, ready for anything. She was no fool—Goddess Shanti was as enigmatic as the void she embodied, and despite her seemingly playful demeanor, Auriel couldn’t bring herself to fully trust her.
Shanti, of course, noticed.
"You’re still so guarded, Auriel. Am I really that frightening to you? Your guard refuses to go down."
The celestial goddess mused, her star-speckled form glimmering in the dim light of her chamber.
"It’s not fear. Please don’t take it the wrong way, but you are too beautiful and your beauty has blinded me into becoming speechless. Please, don’t think that I am being rude toward you."
Auriel replied carefully and she was surprised to find that she was speaking half-truth. She was stunned at the older female’s beauty as well as her wits and her presence.
She had never lost control of her mind like this, but somehow, Auriel did not think her opponent minded a single bit.
