Chapter 629: Teaching an Ungrateful Spirit a Lesson

’I thought Origin Spirits were pure beings without any negative traits in them. I guess I am wrong.’

Until now, Ethan had encountered three of them—excluding the tiny wolf spirit before him.

The tiny deer of the Ancient Heartwood Tree, the tiny snake of the Ancient Corpseheart Tree, and the calf of the Stonehorn Bull Tribe’s Origin Spirit.

Without exception, all of them had been kind, gentle, and generous.

As long as Ethan helped them, they never hesitated to acknowledge him as their master.

Since Origin Spirits were pure existences born from the will of mountains and lands of the Void Secret Realms, Ethan believed they did not scheme, they did not hold grudges, and they did not forget those who helped them.

Gratitude was something deeply engraved into their very essence.

It was precisely because of this belief that Ethan had not bothered to waste time talking with the Quasi–Soul Transformation Realm cultivators of the other two tribes.

He wanted to gain the acknowledgement of their Origin Spirits quickly, claim the mountains, and become the ruler of the Feral Mountain Realm.

’However, who would have thought that not all Origin Spirits are kind... and that there are ungrateful ones as well.’

The Moonfang Wolf Tribe’s Origin Spirit stood as a living example.

The sole reason it had been able to awaken fully was that Ethan had cleared the Void Feral Demons surrounding Wolf Mountain. Only then had the mountain’s will been able to reconnect with the Void Realm and complete its awakening.

Yet instead of gratitude, what Ethan received was hostility.

A cold, murderous glint flashed through Ethan’s eyes as he looked at the tiny white wolf pup.

But, he still asked calmly, one final time,

"Are you sure you won’t let us enter the mountain?"

Before the wolf pup could even respond—

"How dare a lowly human speak to the Ancient Origin Spirit like this?!"

Blackfang shouted angrily, his voice filled with resentment and hatred.

Ethan didn’t even spare him a glance.

From beginning to end, his gaze never left the wolf pup.

The tiny wolf spirit’s eyes were icy as it spoke,

"Leave while I am still being nice. Otherwise, I will make sure you are buried in my mountain forever."

That single sentence was all Ethan got.

He chuckled coldly.

"Fine," Ethan said. "Since you want to do this the hard way, I will gladly do it and make you regret your current actions."

He no longer hesitated as a cold smile appeared on his face as he shouted—

"Release."

’Swiish—!’

The next instant, the Godly Demon Prison, which was still in Blackfang’s hands, shone with a blinding light.

The space below Wolf Mountain twisted violently as hundreds of Void Feral Demons crawled out like a black tide, their roars shaking the heavens as they materialised directly inside the mountain.

"T-this... how did you do it?!"

Blackfang stared in horror at the Void Feral Demons surrounding him. Cold sweat drenched his body as terror overwhelmed him.

"These... how can the Void Feral Demons appear inside Wolf Mountain?! There is a protective barrier!"

Unlike Blackfang, who possessed the special talent [Appraisal Eye], the wolf spirit did not understand the true nature of the Godly Demon Prison.

It was not an artifact that killed demons.

It imprisoned them.

And its owner could either kill or release them at will.

Until now, Ethan had only refined one Elite Void Feral Demon and decided to refine them all after he conquered the Feral Mountain Realm. So, the artifact was filled with thousands of Void Feral Demons.

Blackfang had completely forgotten this fact after believing Ethan was dead.

More importantly, he had never imagined that Ethan could still control the Godly Demon Prison from a distance, even with a protective barrier between them.

But by the time realisation struck, it was already too late, and the protective barrier was meaningless as Wolf Mountain was instantly flooded with Void Feral Demons from inside and not outside the mountain.

’Aargh—’

Blackfang, already weakened from massive blood loss, barely managed to stagger back a single step.

Before he could even scream, the demon swarm engulfed him as fangs tore into flesh and claws ripped apart bone.

In less than a breath, Blackfang was reduced to shredded remains, his body devoured completely without leaving even a trace.

The moment he died, a faint ripple spread across the mountain.

’Rawrrr’

’Crrrr’

That’s not the end.

After killing Blackfang, the Void Feral Demons began surging toward the peak of Wolf Mountain.

That was where the Moonfang Wolf Tribe resided.

The entire scene was shocking to the wolf spirit; however, when it saw that the Void Feral Demons were moving towards the mountain top, its expression changed drastically.

For a Feral Tribe, an Origin Spirit was important, but for an Origin Spirit, the tribe was everything.

Even though it was an Origin Spirit, it had zero battle prowess, and if the Void Feral Demons were outside, it could have used the Protective Barrier to stop them; however, they were inside.

The previous arrogance in its eyes vanished.

The cold killing intent disappeared without a trace, and in its place was panic, anxiety, and most importantly, fear.

The wolf pup hurriedly turned toward Ethan, and with its trembling voice, it begged, "Human—no, Supreme God! Please help me stop them! At the mountain peak lives the entire Moonfang Wolf Tribe!"

"I will acknowledge you as my master. Please stop them."

’...’

However, Ethan remained silent as he looked at the wolf pup quietly.

Despite everything, Ethan was not a cold-blooded person, and his goal had never been to slaughter an entire tribe for the mistake of a single individual.

And that individual was already dead.

But Ethan was still pissed at the Wolf Spirit’s earlier attitude. So, after a brief pause, Ethan spoke calmly, "Since I helped you fully awaken, you are already supposed to acknowledge me as your master."

"T-then... what can I do? Supreme God, please tell me. I will do anything."

As the Origin Spirit, it could sense that Ethan was not a cold-blooded person.

Moreover, it could also tell that he wanted something from it other than its acknowledgement.

So, it hurriedly asked.

"You are clearly intelligent."

Ethan revealed a smile as he nodded his head and stated his condition.
