Chapter 665: Chapter 380: Paying Respects to Father

"This is too valuable!"

"We can’t accept this. We haven’t accomplished anything noteworthy. How can we accept such a precious treasure!"

"Yeah, we shouldn’t take it."

"You should take it back."

The Gemstone Dragons were equally aware of the generosity described by their companions, as they were all shocked. After taking a look at the gemstones, none of the Gemstone Dragons dared to accept them.

Because just a single gemstone was worth more than all four of their total wealth combined, and now they each held three, they were far too overwhelming to casually take.

The Dragon Clan might not have a concept like ’no merit, no reward,’ but they did have a similar belief. Accepting a large gift of assets from a dragon elder without reason made it hard for a dragon to be at ease.

Even if this elder was a direct relative of their mate, the same applied. The Dragon Clan always clearly divided assets, with parents, siblings, children all well separated, with no confusion.

"I’ve already said, they’re just a few trinkets. If you like them, keep them; if not, sell them. It’s up to you. As an elder, there’s no reason for me to take back a first meeting gift. Are you trying to damage my reputation?"

With a playful, rhetorical question, Noah managed to fluster the Gemstone Dragons. Even though Noah’s current form was much smaller than theirs, his presence filled every inch of the hall, making it difficult for them to breathe and almost suffocating.

"Of course, we don’t have such intentions."

"How could we..."

"No need to explain, I know what you mean. Just accept them; you’ve already called me your father, so consider this your fee for changing how you address me."

Noah chuckled and stopped the Gemstone Dragons’ attempts to argue, with Terramus chiming in,

"You should just take them. For my father, gemstones of this caliber are nothing special; there are as many as there are grains of sand in his treasury. Keep them, and they might come in handy in the future, otherwise they’ll just gather dust in his vault."

"What nonsense is this? If I had gemstones of this caliber as numerous as grains of sand, I’d equip every member of my Forbidden Army with one."

Noah replied in exasperation.

"Then we’ll shamelessly accept them!"

To say they didn’t want them would be a lie. It was just that the gifts were so valuable, the Gemstone Dragons dared not accept them lightly.

Seeing that this Golden Dragon elder sincerely wanted to gift them and wasn’t testing or probing them, the Gemstone Dragons exchanged glances and, with boldness mixed with nervousness and joy, accepted the gemstones.

"That’s more like it; I wouldn’t have you call me father for nothing!"

Noah glanced at Terramus, who also had a smile spreading across his face,

"I’ve met your partner, and I’m very pleased. Now, shouldn’t you show me my grandson?"

"The dragon egg hasn’t hatched yet; it might not be a grandson!"

In response, Terramus carefully brought out a dragon egg adorned with golden jade-like scales from under his dragon wings, correcting his father’s words.

"A granddaughter is just as good; I might even like it more."

Noah looked at the solitary dragon egg before him, then looked up at Terramus,

"That’s it?"

"What?"

"There’s only one dragon egg?"

"Only one."

Terramus caught on and then replied discontentedly,

"When you were with my mother and your other two mates, didn’t you also only produce one dragon egg?"

"That’s different!"

Noah finished what he hadn’t said previously, let out a long sigh,

"I thought you could surprise me a little, but it’s just one dragon egg. Is that all you can do?"

"Is it my fault? I tried my best!"

Terramus, sensing his father’s gaze on him, also got annoyed. His bloodline might have weakened compared to his father, but even so, it’s stronger than regular dragons. Being able to produce offspring is, from a certain perspective, already quite fortunate.

Yet this father is still unsatisfied, still not content, even wanting more dragon eggs. What did he think of him?

"Tried your best? Who knows!" 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

"This kind of thing isn’t something I can control, nor can one dragon solve it."

Hearing his father’s words, Terramus felt an immense pressure, but could only helplessly explain.

"That’s what you say, but with so many beautiful mates, you’ve only produced one dragon egg. Do you think that’s reasonable?"

Noah’s gaze turned to the Gemstone Dragons, who appeared a bit shy under his gaze, especially the Yellow Jade Dragon, who had borne this dragon egg.

"What’s so unreasonable? This is just the first dragon egg, isn’t it? I’m still very young; it’s not like I can’t in the future."

"Alright, since you put it that way, how many dragon offspring do you want?"

"I’ll just let it happen naturally; I’ve already said, it’s not something I can decide."

"Let it happen naturally? Hard work is what you should be doing!"

Noah scoffed at his offspring’s passive attitude.

Though it’s incredibly difficult for dragons with such high bloodlines as his to have offspring, it’s just a matter of low probability, not impossibility. If so, as long as they try enough times, there will be a successful day.

This was something Noah had proven through practice. As it turns out, even Ancestral Dragon Species can have multiple offspring in their youth, if they try often enough.

"How many dragon grandkids do you want?"

Terramus stopped answering and asked back.

"You have four mates now, so according to our Metallic Dragon Race standards, you should at least raise eight dragon offspring."

"Metallic Dragon Race standards? What’s that?"

"A pair of Metal Dragons should at least have two children to maintain our clan’s size."

"Then in that case, if I have five, wouldn’t that be enough?"

"Sounds good, but don’t you think it’s unfair? Who do you want to have more, and who do you want to have less? Don’t tell me you want to let it happen naturally again."

As Noah fell silent, the Gemstone Dragons’ gazes immediately focused on Terramus, causing this second son of the Holy Dragon much distress.

Even before Terramus could think of how to balance his already emotional mates when he returned, he saw his father take out, from who knows where, a dazzling crown, and said to the Yellow Jade Dragon, Brigit,

"You joined with my child, making my bloodline continue once more, and I am delighted by this. This is my reward for your contribution. It must have been hard for you during this time."

"Thank you, father."

Hearing Noah’s reason for the reward, Yellow Jade Dragon Brigit didn’t refuse, gracefully accepted the crown, and wore it with uncontrollable joy on her forehead under the envious eyes, mixed with a bit of jealousy, of her three sisters.

"No matter who, as long as a dragon egg is produced, I’ll reward it with a legendary weapon."

"Father—"

Hearing Noah’s words, Terramus couldn’t hold back. He could already imagine the situation he’d face when he returned.

Originally at an age with a strong desire to reproduce, now further spurred by his father’s incentives, his future days seemed likely to leave him not a moment of leisure.

"As my offspring, it’s your duty and responsibility to contribute to our bloodline’s prosperity. What? Do you also want a reward? It’s not impossible."

Noah said with a smile, seeing his second son looking grumpy.

Noah has quite a fixation on bloodline succession, after all, he doesn’t have full certainty to become an Immortal Dragon King yet. Plus, he’s now finding it more difficult for female dragons to become pregnant.

So when his second son announced his harem, it was the perfect opportunity to give him some pressure.
