Goldy Ascendance: Limitless Celestial!-Chapter 37: Dark Yue Phaelo
Dark qi enveloped my entire being, and in that moment, I no longer resembled the righteous cultivators of my sect. I felt something darker, something akin to the forbidden cultivators others feared. But I was different—I thrived in all forms of cultivation, unrestricted by the paths that bound lesser cultivators.
I had long since transcended the concept of Limit, both in my previous life on Earth and in my early years here, shattering the threshold that constrained others. I existed between all paths, embracing them all, mastering them all. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
One of the many advantages of my Forbidden Dao was its ability to conceal parts of myself from the world, even from those closest to me. Just as I had hidden this very Dao from my mother, I could keep my second self shrouded in shadow, unseen by even the most powerful eyes.
As I activated my All-seeing Sight, the flow of time seemed to freeze around me.
Everything slowed to a near standstill, and the space around me warped and distorted, bending to my will. Scenes from every corner of the inn unfurled before me, revealing the hidden and the unseen. I could finally see it all.
"ChiChu, stay," I commanded softly, the air shimmering as I vanished from the room, slipping through the cracks of space itself.
_____
Space ripped open as I sliced through it like a hot knife through tofu, shattering the distance of thousands of li in a mere heartbeat.
My eyes, sharp and unyielding, honed in on my target, missing not a single detail. As I shot through the distorted air, my thoughts briefly wandered back to the companions I had left behind at the inn, casually indulging in food and laughter.
Some might question my reasoning for keeping the likes of Long Zhen, Bai Lifen, Ling Xueying, and Mei Lian around me.
I would tell such people to strip away their assumptions and truly see them for what they were: Children of Heaven! The protagonists in this grand narrative, though, admittedly, I’d become the main character—an unwilling one at that. I could already see it now: the world might or would soon paint me as the villain.
But what of it? Who would dare challenge me when I had bent all my would-be enemies to my will, standing by my side instead? A task easier said than done, but that was the thrill. The kind of challenge I craved.
___
As I neared my destination, the air became thick with a palpable malevolence. I cloaked myself in the dark veils of my Elemental Dao, merging into the shadows, my figure dissolving into the night as though I were nothing more than an extension of the darkness itself.
The miasma that had lured me here was no longer a faint trace; it was a thick cloud, a visible, sinister fog that clung to the air like death itself.
Any mortal unlucky enough to wander into this place would find their life force sucked dry in an instant, left behind as a shriveled corpse. The stench of decay was overwhelming—so thick it seemed to stick to the back of my throat.
Despite my immunity, I wrapped my nose with spiritual qi, wrinkling my brow at the revolting odor. "Would it kill them to open a window?" I muttered, the absurdity of the situation making me snicker to myself, momentarily breaking the tension.
Unbeknownst to my father and Split Sword, the elusive leader they sought had already relocated—right here, to the edge of this town. Why? That was the real question gnawing at me. What were they planning?
The atmosphere here reeked of something far more dangerous than a typical demonic ambush.
My eyes pierced through the thick layers of darkness, scanning the area miles ahead with precision that no ordinary cultivator could ever hope to achieve.
And there they were: three figures, standing deathly still, shrouded in the oppressive weight of the miasma. Their postures were tight, every muscle coiled like a predator waiting for its prey.
In the center, one figure caught my attention, draped in dark robes trimmed with deep purple, a hood and mask obscuring their face.
A sliver of unease crawled down my spine, an instinct buried deep in my gut screaming that this person was not to be trifled with. But I wasn’t backing down—not now. I stayed hidden, my presence masked by the thick darkness around me, but I could feel their awareness. They sensed something—someone—watching them, but they couldn’t pinpoint me. Not yet.
"Their cultivation is in the Divine Realm," I murmured to myself, the revelation sending a spark of excitement mixed with danger thrumming through my veins. A Divine Realm cultivator lurking so close to the town—and hiding so well.
They were clearly the leader of this group, the puppeteer behind the shadows.
I hadn’t come across this information by chance. While my companions had indulged in cheerful banter and food, I had been on high alert, my instincts sharpening the moment I noticed my sister’s absence.
She wasn’t the type to be late—especially not when I was involved.
That alone was enough to set me on edge, but coupled with the dark miasma I’d sensed earlier, it was all too suspicious.
Most cultivators wouldn’t have picked up on it, but my connection to the spiritual energy of Heaven and Earth was profound, deeper than even my companions realized.
The faint presence of that cursed energy had called out to me, urging me to dig deeper.
Activating my All-seeing sight and Spatial Dao, I had woven myself into the flow of space, watching over the town like an unseen ghost.
That’s when I noticed them—five dark-cloaked figures slipping into the forest, their movements cloaked in shadow.
I had marked their spiritual signatures, unable to follow directly without raising suspicion. Now, I stood here, in the heart of the darkness, ready to confront the source of the miasma that had poisoned this air.
Even Shi Wenyan for all her trength, would have missed this. But not me.
My cultivation was unlike any other. I wasn’t just powerful—I was connected, inextricably bound to the elements and to the space itself. I was a force in my own right, unrivaled by anyone save perhaps the Sky Goddess herself.
And yet, despite all that, something still felt... wrong.
The darkness shifted around me, the atmosphere too quiet, too still. Better safe than sorry. I spread my senses, but not through the usual channels.
Using the Elemental Dao of Darkness, I let my awareness blend seamlessly with the miasma, masking my probing from the three figures. The air distorted subtly, warping as I manipulated the space around me, but I made sure not to draw attention. Not yet.
Then, in an instant, it all clicked. "Fuck!" I cursed, the realization hitting me like a blade to the gut. They weren’t just planning any ambush—they were waiting for someone, someone I knew.
I could sense her approaching presence in the distance, but something was wrong. Her spiritual energy was unstable, erratic, and I could see the dark miasma seeping from wounds on her body.
She had been fighting, likely with demonic cultivators. Her injuries were bad.
My pulse quickened, the tension in my body rising as I watched the scene unfold before me. The three figures were unaware of her yet, but that wouldn’t last long. She was walking right into their trap.
I was only able to see her because of my All-Seeing Sight!
The oppressive darkness around me seemed to close in, tightening like a noose. The stakes had risen dramatically.
