Chapter 95: Chapter 95

The lords got off their horses and walked over to Alaric. Before Ser Rodrik could even ask a question, the heavy doors of the Great Hall opened.

Lord Walder Frey walked out into the courtyard.

Stevron, Lothar, and Black Walder walked right behind him. They moved stiffly, like men walking to their own executions. Their faces were as pale as snow. They were sweating heavily in the cold air. They did not want to be here, but the magic of the Chalice forced their legs to move.

Walder stopped a few feet away from the Northern lords. He looked sick. His breathing was shallow and fast.

Walder Frey swallowed hard. His jaw trembled. He hated every single word he was about to say, but Alaric’s silent command forced his tongue to move.

"I am stepping down," Walder said loudly, carried across the courtyard.

The Frey soldiers on the walls and the Northern lords in the yard went completely still.

Walder raised a shaking, bony finger and pointed right at the cloaked figure standing next to Alaric.

"My daughter... she will be the new leader of House Frey," Walder announced, his eyes wide with forced panic. "She is the new Lady of the Crossing. And... I have allied our house with the North."

The silence in the courtyard was deafening.

The Northern lords stared at Walder like he had lost his mind. Ser Rodrik’s jaw physically dropped. Roose Bolton’s cold, pale eyes widened in pure shock. Greatjon Umber looked back and forth between the old man, the dozens of grown Frey sons standing right there, and the cloaked girl.

It was absolute absurdity. Passing over dozens of trueborn sons, grandsons, and experienced commanders to give a massive castle to a daughter?? It broke every single rule and tradition in Westeros. It made absolutely no sense.

The Frey sons—Stevron and Lothar—just stood there. They didn’t draw their swords. They didn’t shout in protest. They just stared at the ground with pale, sweaty faces.

As soon as the last word left his mouth, the magical strain and the sheer terror of what was happening completely broke Walder Frey.

His eyes rolled back. His knees buckled, and he collapsed face-first into the dirt. He lay there shaking, his skin a sickly gray, looking absolutely pathetic like he was about to soil himself.

Alaric looked at the dumbfounded Northern lords. He put his hands behind his back and gave them a calm, simple nod.

Alaric looked down at Walder Frey twitching in the cold mud, he turned to the cloaked figure standing beside him.

"Take off the hood, Rose," Alaric said quietly.

Roslin raised her hands and pushed the heavy fabric back over her shoulders. The torchlight hit her face. She looked nervous, but she stood tall next to him.

A sudden murmur broke out across the courtyard. The Frey soldiers standing near the walls lowered their spears. They stared at her in shock.

"Lady Roslin?" a Frey captain muttered, taking a step forward. "It is her."

Whispers spread fast among the men in grey cloaks. They all knew she went missing on the road weeks ago. Her family thought she was dead or taken by raiders. Now, she was standing right here, riding in at the front of a Northern army.

Ser Rodrik stepped closer. He stared at Roslin, his eyes wide as the realization hit him.

"By the Gods..." Ser Rodrik breathed out. He looked at Alaric, completely dumbfounded. "You had Walder Frey’s daughter with you this? This entire time?"

[Mission Accomplished: The Lady of the Crossing]

[Objective: Make Roslin Frey the leader of House Frey — COMPLETED]

[Reward: 2,000 MP]

[Bonus: Political Domino Effect triggered. Your influence in the Riverlands has increased significantly.]

[Current Balance: 9,120 MP]

He glanced at the Notifcation of the system but swiped it away mentally and focused on current affairs

The shock in the courtyard hung thick in the freezing air, but Alaric knew better than to let silence breed rebellion. Momentum was everything. He stepped slightly behind Roslin.

"Your first command, My Lady," Alaric murmured so only she could hear. "Don’t hesitate. Loud and clear."

Roslin took a deep, shaky breath. She looked at her father twitching in the mud, then at the heavily armed Northern lords, and finally at the sea of bewildered Frey guards. She swallowed her fear, lifting her chin.

"Take my father to his chambers and fetch the maester!" Roslin’s voice cracked slightly on the first syllable, but she forced the rest out with surprising volume. "And... open the gates! The Northern army is to be granted full access to the Twins. Quarter the lords and their men."

For a heartbeat, no one moved. Then, Alaric rested a hand on the pommel of his sword.

As if snapping out of a trance, the Frey captains scrambled to obey. "You heard the Lady!" one shouted. "Get Lord Walder inside! Open the inner gates!"

The heavy wooden gates of the Twins groaned loudly as they were hauled open, echoing across the freezing courtyard. The Northern lords, still reeling from the sheer impossibility of what they had just witnessed, slowly began barking orders to their men.

Greatjon Umber let out a booming laugh that shook the tension from the air. "I don’t know what dark magic or wild trickery you pulled, Alaric, but I’ll be damned if it didn’t win us the crossing without a single drop of Northern blood!"

Roose Bolton remained silent, his pale eyes studying Alaric with a new, deeply unsettling level of calculation. Ser Rodrik just shook his head.

As Ser Rodrik turned to marshal the vanguard, a familiar, sharp ping chimed in Alaric’s mind. The world around him seemed to dim for a fraction of a second as a translucent blue screen materialized directly in his line of sight.

He hadn’t expected another major quest to drop so soon.

[NEW MISSION ALERT: The Lion’s Pride]

Description: With the Twins secured, the Northern army’s path to Riverrun is clear. However, laying siege to the Lannister encampments will not break Tywin’s hold. To turn the tide of the war, you must cut the head off the golden lion’s vanguard.

[Objective: Capture Ser Jaime Lannister ALIVE.]

[Strict Condition: The Duel] > You must defeat and subdue Jaime Lannister in single combat. You cannot use your Summons to fight him, deal damage to him, or restrain him. Your Summons may only be used for crowd control to hold back the Lannister soldiers and isolate the Kingslayer.

[Rewards:]

5,000 MP

TBD(TO BE DETERMINED)

[Failure Penalty:] Jaime Lannister escapes, reinforcing Tywin Lannister’s host. Severe loss of Riverlands influence.

[Do you accept?] [ YES ] / [ NO ]

Alaric’s eyes narrowed as he read the glowing text. Capture the Kingslayer. Alone. It was a bold condition. Jaime Lannister wasn’t just some pampered lord; he was arguably the deadliest swordsman in the Seven Kingdoms. Taking him down in a chaotic battlefield would be difficult enough, but taking him alive, in single combat, without relying on his most powerful magical assets to cheese the fight? That was a true test of his own stats and skills. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

But the rewards were too good to pass up. 5,000 MP and an TBD??
