Grand Ascension-Chapter 79: An Interesting Individual
Makun sat back down quietly in his room, He could feel the difference but he knew he had to acclimate himself to this new power.
However He knew nothing on how to move forward. He did not know where to look for the culprits and had no plan for his future.
I should look for Yime once I get out of here. She said she had a proposal for me.
He needed a plan, a solid plan to move forward. He would achieve nothing without a plan.
As for Zuri, he had a vague memory of her being with Zorak the night he fought Zack. He was not sure he could rely on her.
Maybe she resents me? If what happened to her apartment is because of me then sure.
But what happened?
He still had no idea about what transpired at Apartment 3B.
Creeaaak!!
He turned his head to look at the door which just opened. He saw Jorg’s giant frame, walk through.
"You are up." Jorg said, walking towards him.
He was shocked to see how Makun had already advanced to Tier 2. This kid is an anomaly he thought.
"I am" Makun answered curtly.
"You like causing trouble, don’t you?" Jorg spoke, highlighting the fact that Makun had given them a lot of work in just 3 to 4 days of initiation.
Makun could only sigh internally and place the blame on his poor luck.
He proceeded to tilt his head, He had felt two other presences in the vicinity. After his progression from Tier 1 to Tier 2, Makun noticed that he became more sensitive to Ashe.
Earlier just from observing, he had sensed the healing properties of the Ashe flowing through the healing charm.
Now, he could feel two concentrated but distinct sources of Ashe coming from behind the door to his room. One was unfathomable, something he could not contend against, but it felt familiar, while the other was softer but sharper.
He could tell the two individuals were in some sort of discussion which they stopped after hearing his voice.
He saw a female cross the threshold of his door entering his room and that left him shocked.
What is she doing here?
He recognized Yime, the veiled lady he had met at old town plaza night market for the first time.
Before he unleashed his rage towards Zack, Makun went through the different things he hated or resented. He never mentioned her.
She was someone he was glad he met. She had helped him with knowledge. Precious knowledge he would not find anywhere, she had given him a potion. That alone was a proper starting line for him.
She had advised him and helped him more than she should have. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
And while he was sure she had her own plans, he still was grateful.
"How have you been?" Yime stood next to Jorg, her arms crossed behind her back.
She scanned Makun up and down.
He took the potion from her on Sunday, and now, five days later he was an apprentice. This was the first time she had heard of such a thing.
But she knew from now on, his progress would slow down, what he had to get as comprehensions to advance from Tier 2 to Tier 3. He had no idea yet, and finding it was an arduous process.
"I have been alive." Makun cracked a dry joke that was not funny.
But who cared, not like these types of experts took such things seriously.
"HAHAHA, so funny." That was what he thought until Orel appeared beside Yime, his expression unreadable. Highlighting all the sarcasm in what he had just said.
"So this is the unlucky bastard mentioned by the girl?" Orel asked pointing at Makun.
He had read in the report and heard from her directly that Makun was a plague, and had caused her situation. That was why he had been interested in joining Yime and Jorg here in the first place.
He wanted to see just who was so unlucky that their mere presence could destroy people’s lives.
Makun shifted his gaze from Yime to Orel. He looked at him from head to toe. What did this bum want from him.
One thing Makun had learned was to never allow provocation, If someone did something to you and you let it be, the probability that they did it again was very high.
In the end, you will end up used and destroyed. So one personality trait he built was to never back down whenever he was provoked.
The only time he backed down was because he could not do anything at the moment. Once he gained some opportunity to strike back, he always did.
That is how he survived a lot of situations till now.
That was why he had not backed down against his boss Marcus at his old workplace when the equipment broke, or why he had not backed down the first time he met Zack York at the night Market. Or when Zuri did a reading and refused to let him know.
He rarely backed down.
However, he had a feeling that answering the provocation of this guy in orange tinted glasses who broached a sensitive topic was going to be him falling right into his trap.
He had sworn to be the puppet of no one else. He was not going to be controlled by people anymore, or even by his emotions. Which was an irony as a berserk warrior.
Makun immediately classified Orel as a threat, an enemy of some sort that he would win against by ignoring them.
Oh! Orel raised an eye.
He could tell the guy wanted to respond, almost every possible scenario he had deduced in his head ended with Makun’s response. For him to go against what he was and stay silent.
That showcased strong will.
An interesting individual. Orel thought.
"I am gonna catch you guys later." He had seen what he wanted to see, he turned and left the room.
Makun looked at his back, not a word escaping his mouth.
