Grand Voyage : Surviving on a Ghost Ship-Chapter 120 - Departure
Yang Yi obtained information about the flintlock gun.
【Name: Roaring Flintlock】
【Type: Relic】
【Quality: Supreme】
【Description: Once a masterpiece, now reclaiming its former glory.
It has three modes:
At first, Yang Yi was worried that the gun barrel might explode, but after reading the details, he had no more doubts.
It would explode!
But the minor side effect was something he could live with.
If he had wielded it earlier, he might have killed the Crystal Giant outright, without resorting to self-immolation.
Meanwhile, Suna was roasting the ice egg with fire, but it showed no signs of melting.
She had asked Yang Yi and knew it could be melted.
The so-called ice egg was merely a protective layer formed by the white crystalline structure inside.
However, even after nearly ten minutes of heating it with an oil lamp, there was no sign of it melting.
"Looks like I need to increase the temperature..." Suna muttered to herself.
Just then, Yang Yi entered the cabin and called out.
"Suna, don't bother. It's time to leave the glacier."
An hour later, using a similar method as before, the two melted the surrounding ice.
However, the process was much faster thanks to Suna’s magic — Fireball.
This spell became stronger when surrounded by fire.
The downside was that it drained the user's body heat, making it best used alongside burning liquor.
With numerous campfires around, Suna conjured a high-heat sphere, melting vast portions of the glacier.

Yang Yi also assisted in breaking the ice with his flintlock. The gun's fire rate had doubled, and its power had significantly increased.
Chunks of glacier shattered under his shots, saving them a great deal of effort.
The Nightmare Star was free once again, able to manoeuvre and make small movements.
Next, they needed to carve a path through the glacier with cannons — a process estimated to take three to four days, which would have been dull and monotonous.
However, the Soaked Cannon made the task unexpectedly entertaining, because it had a habit of launching... unexpected projectiles.
Especially when it fired an adorably explosive seal, the blast was three times more powerful than normal!
Yang Yi had no idea how much seafood the cannon had shot out. Everything he had ever fished up seemed to make an appearance.
Using it as ammunition packed quite a punch.
He tried picking up the seafood projectiles, but the system informed him they would vanish in six hours and couldn’t be used for anything else.
So, he gave up on the idea of using the cannon for food supply.
After three days of taking turns, the Nightmare Star finally escaped the glacier and sailed into the icy sea!
During this time, Suna had been obsessively studying the ice egg, transitioning from initial excitement to sheer frustration every time she looked at it.
It defied all logic, and studying it meant venturing into an entirely unknown domain.
The ice egg only melted at temperatures above 1,000 degrees Celsius. That wasn’t the problem, Suna had crafted a grease-fueled blowtorch that could reach that heat.
The real problem was… the white fragments inside were simply ???
If touched by hand, they were around 27°C, since the human body temperature was 37°C.
If placed in 1,000-degree flames, they measured 990°C.
If submerged in 100-degree boiling water, they registered 90°C!
It was practically Schrödinger’s low temperature! The actual temperature was unknowable — dynamic! It could technically have multiple temperatures at once!
Suna went to great lengths, even purchasing two thermometres, to verify this phenomenon.
Her final conclusion:
The white fragments’ temperature was always 10 degrees lower than the measuring device. Two thermometres could confirm it — if one was at 10°C and the other at 20°C, the fragments would simultaneously display 0°C and 10°C.
After reaching this conclusion, Suna felt like her head had grown a size bigger.
If the fragments could be placed at absolute zero, would they become 10 degrees below absolute zero? And if so, what would even happen?
Suna couldn’t figure it out.
Only one thing was clear — it was beyond her current understanding. It could only be used for its practical functions.
From then on, the ice egg was treated purely as a tool.
Suna’s attention shifted to the Crystalline Giant’s remains. Compared to the ice egg, it was much simpler.
The crystals would gradually melt above 100°C, and their hardness decreased as temperature increased.
At 0°C, they were about as hard as regular steel, but with poor toughness, making them brittle. However, they weighed only one-quarter of steel’s weight.
At even lower temperatures, the crystals would become incredibly hard.
Understanding these properties, Suna began looking for ways to enhance their thermal stability. Even if they lost the low-temperature hardening effect, the crystals could still be an excellent material, suitable for crafting armour, arrows, and even weapons!
For the past few days, aside from blasting icebergs, Yang Yi had been battling his beastly instincts.
By eating only vegetables, avoiding transformation, and meditating, he had finally suppressed his urge to consume human flesh.
Even if he drank an appetite-enhancing potion, he wouldn’t have cannibalistic thoughts.
To verify and maintain this state, the two synced their meal times, always eating together.
Suna also started testing the appetite-enhancing potion, as their stock of Vitality Coconut Juice was running low.
The potion didn’t reduce much sanity, and it actually sped up sanity regeneration, making it quite cost-effective.
With their increasing conversations, they stumbled upon a shocking conclusion:
The Sea of Origin could not be a single, continuous ocean. It felt more like multiple fragmented sea regions stitched together!
For instance, the Ice Nest Cult was clearly guarding this specific region. Meanwhile, players seemed to be outsiders who had suddenly intruded.
It raised a suspicion: was the Extreme Winter Sea actually a piece extracted from the Ice Nest Cult’s territory?
If so, it perfectly explained everything.
Otherwise, it made no sense for Ice Nest followers to guard a glacier doomed to be swallowed by the black mist.
Moreover, the black mist, much like the white mist, was likely a large-scale magical force meant to drive players away. The natives on the islands didn’t even realise the black mist existed, until it consumed them.
Of course, there was another possibility.
Perhaps the entire sea was just a system-generated copy, created from some template...
In that case, every player was essentially trapped inside a box.
Two more days passed.
The Nightmare Star had been sailing through the Extreme Winter Sea for almost a week now.
Surprisingly, they hadn’t encountered a single Ice Nest swarm.
Perhaps it was the effect of the white fragments.
Along the way, Yang Yi shattered many icebergs and killed two Pale Worms — though they weren’t very large.
The ship’s grease reserves had returned to 1,000 litres.
Then, while steering the ship, Yang Yi keenly noticed the temperature rising.
He immediately checked the weather report.
Today’s Weather
Location: Sea of Origin (Extreme Winter Sea)Daylight Duration: Perpetual DaylightTemperature: -20°C to -8°CWind Force: Level 2
It was significantly warmer than before, and a temperature rise could very well mean an exit was near!
After sailing for another day, Yang Yi was certain they had entered the buffer zone of the Extreme Winter Sea.
The temperature was around 0°C, there was no floating ice, and the white mist was thinning, likely an indicator of the transition area.
Three more hours of sailing later, the horizon suddenly opened up. The brightness shifted instantly to darkness. It was nighttime.
At the same time, it marked their departure from the Extreme Winter Sea.
A system notification immediately popped up.
Yang Yi was the first player to escape the Extreme Winter Sea!
