Yang Yi realised his behaviour was inappropriate, so he quickly released Suna.

She stood still for a few seconds before slowly turning her head.

"I actually…"

"Share your status panel with me. I want to figure out what’s happening to you," Suna interrupted.

Only then did Yang Yi check his personal attribute panel.

Yang Yi

Yang Yi stared at the panel in shock.

His transcendence path had gained a new branch, Banquet Guest, which made him stronger by eating delicacies… and demanded he keep eating.

This was from that banquet…

He had truly attended it, eaten the “delicacies” there.

The taste and texture were unforgettable.

Without realising it, Yang Yi began chewing again, as if he were back at the feast hall…

"Yang Yi?"

Suna sensed something was wrong and tapped him, pulling him out of the memory.

"What’s wrong with you?" she asked.

"Nothing."

Yang Yi shook his head, clearing the thoughts from his mind.

"Then hurry up and send me your panel already."

Suna was growing impatient, urging him.

After a few seconds of hesitation, Yang Yi sent it over, hoping to kill her curiosity before she dug too deep.

Five minutes later.

Yang Yi had reverted to human form, cleaning himself with water and cloth, and stored his captain’s coat into the Charred Worm Ring.

That way, his sanity would recover much faster.

"Corruption Depth reaches 100%, player will be dragged into the Abyss… This wasn’t in your panel before. And you’re already at 28%…"

Suna was still studying his stats.

"Your attributes are high, though. Eating delicacies doesn’t seem to make you addicted anymore…"

"Enough. If you’ve seen enough, go to sleep, before you collapse!"

Yang Yi told her, preparing to head back to the deck to steer the ship.

There were still three hours until dawn, and his stamina was at 100, probably thanks to all the delicacies he had eaten at the banquet, which was more than enough to pilot the ship for a long time.

Standing at the cabin door, he looked out at the ongoing “rain” of food.

The bread and pastries from earlier had turned into colourful candies.

But Yang Yi knew, they were no different in essence. They were merely the scraps of food left over by the banquet guests above.

After experiencing that banquet, Yang Yi’s understanding of the Bountiful Sea reached an entirely new depth.

The seawater was white because it was mixed with the host’s bodily fluids and the mucus seeping from the ruptured belly of the Swollen King.

The chunks of flesh drifting in the sea were most likely the remains of banquet guests whose bodies had burst apart above.

As for the Rotwhales… they were either aggregates of that flesh, or its evolved form.

Even in death, the remaining cells of these guests never forgot to keep eating and drinking…

Using his Third Eye, Yang Yi scanned the surrounding waters but detected nothing unusual.

The crystal ball’s sea chart also showed no large floating objects.

Still, the rain had been falling for so long that Yang Yi felt it best to stay cautious.

He took out the Eye of Greed, paid 1,000 seashell coins to activate it, and used the night-vision telescope to examine the surroundings more closely.

“…That is…?”

On the sea to the upper left, a massive whirlpool had formed, pulling in the surrounding seawater, and the falling food, into the depths below.

Distance: about 23 nautical miles.

Had he failed to notice it and approached carelessly, he might have been dragged under.

There was likely a massive Rotwhale beneath, sucking in the water.

Yang Yi couldn’t gauge its exact size, but it was probably no smaller than the one he’d encountered before, given that the whirlpool’s diametre was nearly 2km.

“…The things at the bottom are about to surface,” Yang Yi concluded, raising the crystal greatshield as he ran to the bow.

The skeletal arms were still sweeping candy off the deck.

Thanks to their tireless day-and-night cleaning, few scraps of food remained on the Nightmare Star’s deck.

The cost, however… was that most of the deck’s salt had been swept away.

The skeletal arms couldn’t properly distinguish between salt and food; since the food was often encrusted with salt, they’d throw it away together.

Once the rain stopped, Yang Yi would have to lay down more salt to restore the defenses.

All his focus had to be on steering, because a massive candy cane was falling straight towards the Nightmare Star’s bow.

At the front of the ship, the canopy he’d set up was still intact.

He gripped the helm and swung the ship sharply to starboard, narrowly avoiding the enormous candy cane.

He dared not look toward the sky, lest he be pulled back into the banquet.

Huge waves slammed against the hull, tilting the ship more than ten degrees.

Fortunately, after navigating the Storm Seas for so long, Yang Yi had honed excellent piloting skills. Without a trace of panic, he stabilised the vessel and pushed forward at full speed.

Half an hour later.

Chunks of flesh began appearing on the water’s surface, extending tendrils to snatch at the falling delicacies.

The scene reminded Yang Yi of what he had witnessed upon first entering the Bountiful Sea.

If the chunks made contact with a vessel, they would cling to it or even crawl up onto the deck. Medium-sized ones could attempt to devour the entire ship.

Avoiding them was absolutely necessary.

As a werewolf, Yang Yi already had superior night vision even without using the Third Eye.

Other players, however, weren’t so lucky.

A glance at the chat channel confirmed that they had also spotted the flesh in the water, some had even been struck already and were locked in battle.
