Without further ado, the green-skinned child was precisely the core of the whale Yang Yi had been searching for.

Although its shape and colour differed from the Fruit of Bounty he’d seen before, Yang Yi was certain he hadn’t made a mistake!

He took out a specially made one-metre wooden board and began to assemble it with careful movements, all while keeping a close eye on the child’s every motion.

The creature was small, less than forty centimetres tall; a one-metre box was more than enough to contain it.

In less than a minute, the storage box, designed specifically for containing Fruits of Bounty, was ready.

Yang Yi immediately sent a private message to Suna.

“I’ve found the core. How’s your side?”

“No anomalies. I estimate the Fruit of Bounty will be completely drained in twenty minutes,” Suna replied, attaching a photo.

(A shrivelled white peach, pierced by countless branch-like tendrils ending in needle-sharp tips.)

“Good!”

Yang Yi snapped a photo of the green-skinned child and sent it to her.

“A green-skinned kid? Are you sure you didn’t get it wrong?”

“No way!” Yang Yi replied confidently.

Then he approached the child, his body growing taller and taller until he reached three metres, transforming into a werewolf.

His massive frame blocked the sunlight emitted by the glowing orb above, casting a vast shadow.

Holding the special containment box in one hand and a vial of concentrated gastric acid in the other, he prepared to capture the green-skinned child.

But just then, a voice echoed inside his head.

“Human, would you like to make a deal?”

“A deal?”

Yang Yi glanced around, no one else was there. That meant the voice came from the green-skinned child below, which apparently possessed some kind of telepathic ability.

“Yes! I can share the power of Bounty and help you become a Child of Bounty...”

The voice abruptly cut off, replaced by a shrill, agonised scream.

“Aaaaahhhhh!!!! @#%¥”

Yang Yi didn’t even bother listening. He poured the concentrated gastric acid directly onto the child’s head, and thin wisps of green smoke rose as the flesh melted.

The green skin dissolved instantly, revealing the familiar milky-white interior, almost appetising in its appearance. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

“I knew it! Just a Fruit of Bounty wrapped in green skin!”

Cursing, Yang Yi covered the creature with the container in his left hand while transforming his right hand into a massive greatsword.

He had yet to test the full power of his enhanced blade. With a powerful swing, Destruction = Mass × Velocity! His body enhancement technique amplified the force even further.

With one strike, the vine sphere exploded open with a deafening crack. Yang Yi burst out from within, holding the container that sealed the green-skinned child.

“Suna, move!”

He quickly notified her.

Aboard the Nightmare Star.

Suna received the message and sprang into action.

Four catapults launched in unison, hurling four giant sea-salt grenades high into the air, right at the tendrils draining the Fruit of Bounty overhead.

The effect was immediate and overwhelming.

The tendrils withered altogether, their suction halted, and the shrivelled fruit began to plump up once more.

Next came the Stitched Monster.

Though its mummy-like tentacles looked dry and brittle, they retained strong suction power, drawing in sea salt from the ground and spraying it continuously into the sky.

Dozens of tentacles shot jets of saltwater like high-pressure hoses. Under direct command, the Stitched Monster’s combat power skyrocketed.

Moreover, its dried vine-like limbs served as whips, lashing at the branches binding the Fruit of Bounty above.

Before long, the branches binding and sucking the life from the Fruit of Bounty had been severed one after another, leaving the mass riddled with holes.

Those few stubborn, hard-to-reach branches that escaped the initial assault were swiftly shot down by Suna’s Bow of Salt, every arrow a precise hit.

Within just two minutes, the Fruit of Bounty detached naturally, as if ripened to perfection, and fell neatly into the container below.

It continued to swell, showing signs of accelerating. But the skeletal arm nearby was already prepared. It uncorked a vial and poured in the concentrated gastric acid.

The moment the acid came into contact with the Fruit of Bounty, a reaction occurred, producing a slurry-like residue, the byproduct of digestion.

At that point, the specially designed container functioned like the stomach of a gluttonous beast, its digestive ability counteracting the fruit’s regenerative power, thereby achieving containment.

Afterwards, they would only need to regularly replenish the gastric acid and remove the mushy residue inside, either by pouring it out or scooping it up with the container’s ladle.

For safety, even the maintenance tasks could be delegated to the skeletal arm!

Suna lowered her Bow of Salt. Her face showed neither relief nor joy because everything had gone too smoothly, so much so that it unsettled her, filling her with a creeping sense of unease.

She glanced around.

The dense forest above almost completely blocked out the sky.

The reason she had succeeded so easily was, she realised, because the forest hadn’t resisted her at all, it had behaved like a lifeless, unconscious being.

Touching the container, Suna received information about the Fruit of Bounty. The system confirmed that the specimen was in a subdued state.

【Name: Fruit of Bounty (Minor)】

【Description: A fresh and vital Fruit of Bounty. Extremely difficult to harvest, it will regenerate endlessly until it gives rise to a new Corrupted Whale. Due to its regenerative nature, it is also known as “Ever-Rebirthing Flesh”. Can be used as a material or inserted into the Monster Vending Machine. 】

“Containment successful on my end. What’s your status?”

She sent a message to Yang Yi, including the fruit’s data.

“Damn it, watch out for the forest! This container’s too fragile, it can’t hold that vine-controlling green brat!”

Yang Yi’s reply came in a rush.

Almost immediately, the surrounding jungle came alive, as if awakening from slumber. Countless branches moved like sentient tentacles, lashing towards the Nightmare Star!

The Stitched Monster and the skeletal arms aboard the ship retaliated at once, but the situation was dire.

The tendrils’ target was clear, the container beside Suna, or rather, the Fruit of Bounty within it.

If even a single tendril pierced and destroyed that fragile vessel, all their efforts would be for nothing. Once freed, the Fruit of Bounty would rapidly grow, possibly reverting to its avian form.

The forest and the fruit would resume their battle, and the Nightmare Star, trapped between them, would be annihilated.

That was a scenario utterly unacceptable to Suna.

Reacting instantly, she stuffed the container into her Bag of Holding.

After its recent upgrade, the bag could not only teleport items to the Witch’s Laboratory, but also transport subdued living entities, including contained Fruits of Bounty.

The container vanished instantly, reappearing within the ship’s inner hold.

Suna dashed for the ship’s interior, with the Stitched Monster following closely behind, executing its protection protocol.

The branches paused momentarily when the container disappeared,

then, sensing the fruit’s new location, went berserk, launching a frenzied assault on the ship’s hull, and on Suna herself.

Most were repelled by the salt spray from the Stitched Monster’s tentacles, but one stray vine slipped through the defense and pierced Suna’s shoulder.

A sharp pain shot through her. Glancing over, she saw the severed vine burrowing into her flesh, sprouting roots at alarming speed. The spot was dangerously close to her heart, and if the roots reached it, she’d be as good as dead.

Without hesitation, Suna gripped her Bow of Salt and drove it into her shoulder like a blade.

The flesh around the wound shrivelled instantly, and the invading vine withered away with it.

Gritting her teeth, Suna stumbled into the Nightmare Star’s cabin, finally out of immediate danger.
