Yang Yi felt he had trained enough. He went to the Witch’s Laboratory and asked Suna to make a mirror so he could admire his body.

“Not bad,” he said, striking a pose.

His height hadn’t changed, but his muscles were far more defined now, full of power. His body had also grown denser than before.

He didn’t look fat anymore, more like a solidly built man of around two hundred pounds, yet his actual weight was close to three hundred.

If he transformed into a werewolf, that density would increase even further. He’d stand over three meters tall and weigh more than six hundred pounds.

Suna, well aware of his physical changes, came over and said,

“How about you give me a rib? I’ll check your body condition for you.

It’ll grow back anyway, no lasting harm.”

She said it as casually as if she were borrowing a household item, one she didn’t plan to return.

Naturally, Yang Yi refused. Without saying a word, he turned and left the lab.

Wolf hair was one thing, but he hadn’t expected Suna to start eyeing his bones.

If he gave in this time, she’d probably ask for his kidneys next, absolutely not.

Yang Yi went back to the deck and studied the sea chart.

Fifteen days earlier, he had already spotted a dividing line at the edge of the map.

It matched the coordinates published by the newspaper, meaning it was almost certainly the exit of the Bountiful Sea.

In at most two days, the Nightmare Star would leave the Bountiful Sea and enter the special region known as the Sea of Origin (End Point).

From the lookout, Yang Yi obtained a static map of the surrounding 1,800 nautical miles.

It showed that the number of Rotwhales was decreasing, likely because they were nearing the exit.

This time, as long as one survived the initial tsunami, resisted the temptation of “delicacies,” and avoided the rot-whales, the chances of survival in the Bountiful Sea weren’t actually low.

The real difficulty lay in information.

Without knowing about the rot-whales, or how deadly the “delicacies” were, or the effect of sea salt, anyone charging in blindly would have no chance, almost everyone would die.

The later arrival of the Farmer had provided plenty of food supplies, which further reduced the difficulty.

“The number of surviving players should still be fairly high…” Yang Yi guessed.

He had gathered more information about the End Point recently, as more and more players reached it and shared reports.

After chasing the Farmer, he had fallen far behind schedule. He probably wouldn’t even make the top 100, maybe not even the top 500.

After all, there were many players and plenty of fast ships.

Details about the End Point had begun leaking out.

For example, the area ahead was shrouded in darkness, like an invisible wall. You couldn’t see through it, and ships couldn’t pass.

Also, the seawater there was black. When it evaporated, it turned into drifting black vapor that slowly faded away.

That meant players couldn’t evaporate seawater to obtain sea salt for trade.

Fishing was still possible, but difficult, and most catches were abyssal species, the kind Yang Yi often caught himself.

It was a new test of the fishermen’s sanity, but some still enjoyed it.

Yang Yi wasn’t in a hurry anymore. Even after reaching the End Point, there would just be more waiting.

The Nightmare Star sailed steadily toward the exit.

Two days later, the ship entered the buffer zone as planned. Beyond it lay the exit.

The seawater gradually shifted from white to gray, then darkened toward black.

The floating chunks of flesh had disappeared entirely.

Once they left the buffer zone, even sunlight vanished, there was no longer day or night.

Only a faint scattering of starlight shone from the far edge of the sky, enough to light the way, about as bright as dawn.

Then the log popped up with a message:

Congratulations on clearing the Sea of Origin. You’ve earned the right to explore the true ocean. More details will be revealed once all players have left the Bountiful Sea. Please wait here.

You have earned Player Points.

“Eighty thousand, huh? So the points aren’t based on ranking,” Yang Yi guessed.

Otherwise, his score wouldn’t have been so much higher than that of the Gale.

Yang Yi was about to ask Suna how many points she had when he noticed her staring up at the sky in surprise.

“The sun’s gone… Did we cross into another hemisphere?”

She turned to look behind them, bewildered.

The route they came from had vanished, only darkness remained.

It felt as though the Nightmare Star had passed through a one-way teleportation gate and been transferred to this region.

“How many points did you get?” Yang Yi asked.

“...”

“That many?” he said in surprise.

Suna’s score wasn’t much lower than his. Together, their total was impressively high.

That meant the scoring system was likely multifactorial.

Research might also earn points, which would explain why Suna’s total was so high.

Yang Yi’s points mostly came from combat and from the times he had faced Great Beings directly.

For now, the purpose of the points remained unclear. The system didn’t provide any interface for checking them, only the activity log displayed the total.

“Use your Third Eye and look behind us,” Suna said, pointing at the darkness.

Yang Yi understood. He activated his Third Eye and peered backward.

There was no obstruction, no shadow, just endless, flat sea. The surface was deathly still, without even a ripple.

“Nothing back there?” Suna asked again to be sure.

Yang Yi nodded.

He tried steering the ship in reverse, but soon ran into an invisible barrier, an air wall. The Nightmare Star couldn’t push through.

He could even feel the soft texture of the barrier against the ship’s stern.

Suna tried too and felt the same resistance.

It became clear that the Nightmare Star was floating in a special zone, surrounded on all sides by an air wall that limited movement.

Yang Yi looked forward. The sea was the same, calm, and dark.

He told Suna what he had found.

“This must be a safe zone enclosed by an air wall,” he said. “But what’s that glowing thing up ahead?”

He was referring to the faint lights in the distance that resembled stars.

Yet when viewed through the Third Eye, there was no actual light source.

He guided the Nightmare Star forward for about a hundred miles before another soft air wall blocked the way.

Then he took out the telescope, paid 1,000 Shell Coins, and used it to peer into the darkness ahead.

Unlike the space behind them, the darkness in front had a visible outline, but it was too deep to make out clearly, and they couldn’t approach it.

At the top of that dark contour, a dim light glowed, like a lamp, though Yang Yi wasn’t sure.

He handed the telescope to Suna so she could take a look as well.

When Xu Da had used his scrying skill earlier, he was probably using a telescope to study that same darkness, but without success.

Only Yang Yi’s Third Eye was special enough to perceive that the darkness ahead was an illusion, or at least a visual deception.

Even the light itself wasn’t real.
