This was a spell called Curling Touch. It caused objects within the caster’s field of vision to twist and deform, with its strength calculated based on the caster’s Spirit attribute.

Suna’s current Spirit was 10 points (Witch’s Blood +2, Witch’s Set +2), so the spell’s power was considerable, even surpassing that of ordinary weapons. This was not simple arm strength, but the maximum force corresponding to the relevant attribute.

As a result, the beam gun on the right was destroyed. The one on the left, however, fired a blinding blue beam at Suna.

The beam struck the semi transparent red force field in front of her, immediately deflected, and ricocheted toward the ceiling.

Seizing the moment, Suna downed the Spirit potion in her hand, restoring 5 points of mana.

Right after that, she cast Curling Touch again, this time targeting the beam gun on the left.

The weapon was in the middle of firing. After deforming, it actually exploded, scattering a large number of components across the floor.

Suna rubbed her eyes. The intense glare from the beam gun had left her a little dazzled.

Fortunately, it was all over. She had destroyed both beam guns behind the transparent wall with magic, and she herself had taken no real damage.

“This is what magic is supposed to be like!”

Yang Yi exclaimed as he stepped into the room, unable to hide his envy of Suna’s spells.

Compared to hers, the spells Yang Yi knew were strange one after another.

Now all that remained was the transparent wall, and the door behind it.

Yang Yi walked over and reached out to touch it. The surface was extremely smooth.

Earlier, the Penitent Armour had struck it repeatedly with the Crystal Greatsword, yet not even a scratch had been left behind.

The wall was not only incredibly hard, but also almost perfectly transparent, with light transmittance close to 100 percent. It was nearly invisible to the naked eye.

Its refractive index was also very low. Even after passing through it, the trajectory of the beam guns was barely affected.

“This is an astonishing material,” Suna said.

She was also touching the invisible wall, her eyes filled with disbelief.

She saw even more. Not only was the surface smooth, it did not reflect light at all, forming no reflections.

The technology behind this material was simply unimaginable.

And then there was something else.

She splashed a bit of water onto the wall and saw the droplets bead up and roll off onto the floor, like water on a lotus leaf.

“It doesn’t collect dust or water, it’s hard and transparent… it’s just…”

Suna was completely captivated.

Yang Yi, meanwhile, was thinking about how to break the wall.

When he noticed the water Suna had splashed sliding down, something suddenly clicked in his mind, and he scanned the entire room.

Something was off.

This room was too clean.

There were scorch marks on the walls and floor, but those were caused after they arrived.

Before that, this place must have been like a brand new room. He and Suna looked as though they were the first visitors.

But that was impossible.

The skull painted in the stairwell already proved that at least one group had been here before. There should have been traces left behind. Stains, debris, even corpses.

But there was nothing.

It was spotless, as if it had just been cleaned.

“Suna, there’s something else here!”

Yang Yi shouted a warning.

At the same time, he transformed into a werewolf and moved like the wind to stand in front of her.

The security door directly ahead was slowly opening, letting out a harsh creaking sound as metal scraped against metal.

A small amount of black mist leaked out through the gap behind the door, then dissipated under the light of the Light Vessel.

Yang Yi did not dare let his guard down. He held a flintlock pistol in one hand and the Broken Iron Greatsword in the other.

A gurgling sound came from behind the door, and a grotesque creature ran out.

It had six arms. Its body looked like a trash can, with the arms extending out from inside it.

Beneath the can were three wheels, which made an uneven grinding sound as it moved.

When the black mist around its surface finally dispersed, Yang Yi was at last able to see clearly what this thing was.

“A robot?”

Suna studied the machine with even greater curiosity.

It looked badly corroded by darkness. Large patches of its once bright white metal casing had peeled away or rusted.

Near its head or rather what seemed to be its camera, there was a clearly visible bullet hole. Several cracks even ran across the camera lens itself.

But this thing was dangerous.

Each of its mechanical arms ended in a cannon barrel. Although two of the eight arms were broken, the remaining six barrels still posed a serious threat.

They were likely beam cannons, capable of firing straight through the transparent wall.

“Suna, put up the force field and pull back first,” Yang Yi said.

Using it at close range was too risky. The enormous kinetic force could shatter the entire room.

The robot was preparing to attack. The cracked camera appeared to contract and focus, while six cannon barrels locked onto Yang Yi.

But suddenly, its head or camera caught sight of Suna behind him. It froze for a brief moment, as if it had crashed.

Then it retracted all its mechanical arms. The blue indicator light beneath the camera began flashing rapidly as a synthesised voice played:

“Doctor, this is the 1,745,430th day you have been suspected of dereliction of duty.

All records have been logged and uploaded. You may face the maximum penalty.”

The robot was speaking, but the content left Yang Yi momentarily stunned.

It seemed to be calling Suna… Doctor?

Yang Yi glanced back and forth between Suna and the robot, and quickly understood what was going on.

The robot’s camera was damaged. There was a sizable bullet hole in its head, and it likely had a program malfunction and had mistaken her identity. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

“It’s calling me Doctor?” Suna muttered softly.

Behind his back, Yang Yi made a quick hand gesture, signalling her not to give anything away and to let him handle it.

He silently organised his words, then spoke to the robot.

“That’s right. I’m the newly appointed first officer of the sanctuary ship.

This vessel has suffered a serious malfunction and needs a full inspection. Open this protective wall immediately.”

He even made up a role for himself, hoping to fool this artificial idiot.

But the robot only gave him a brief glance. The indicator light flickered a few times before it turned back to Suna.

“Doctor, is this a new test subject you’ve captured? He seems to have escaped from his cage.”

The synthesised voice nearly made Yang Yi explode with anger.

Only then did he realise he was still in werewolf form. He hurriedly transformed back, but the robot continued to ignore him, treating him as an escaped experimental subject.

“Y you… open the protective wall,” Suna tried ordering it.

The robot’s indicator light blinked several times. Then it began to move, rolling to the area behind the door. One of its mechanical arms pressed a nearby button, and the transparent wall started to rise.

For safety reasons, the lowest section of the wall was made of metal, which made it possible to clearly see the wall moving upward.

“It seems to recognise only you, but don’t let your guard down.

If anything unusual happens, I’ll turn it into a pile of scrap metal immediately,” Yang Yi whispered to Suna.

The robot’s indicator light flashed as it looked over again.

“Doctor, that experimental subject needs to be locked back into its cage. Otherwise, it may cause damage.

I can attempt to subdue and contain him, if you just give the order to Xiao Ji.”
