Chapter 837: Tense Atmosphere

Anna’s heart skipped a beat. She covertly lowered her left hand under the table, planning to weave hand seals for Mind Whisper, but at the last moment, Kaspar stopped her.

‘No suspicious movements,’ he transmitted. ‘They’re nearby.’

The crimson-haired woman couldn’t help but scan the crowd before her. But all she saw were people from the four races mingling and going about their day in joy and harmony.

She reached out for the glass, sipping on her drink again.

‘If my guess is right, then these people must be from Ravenfell.’ Kaspar York leaned back in his chair, raising his head and basking in the warm rays of the sun.

‘It would be strange if they did not keep an eye on a foreign Mana Vortex Magus like me,’ he added.

‘So rest assured. Everything is under control. I just wanted to inform you beforehand.’

Anna’s shoulders involuntarily loosened. It made sense that the Magi responsible for the security of Ravenfell would keep a strict eye on their group, considering there was a Mana Vortex Magus amongst them.

Furthermore, security measures had intensified now that the Grand Magus Tournament was around the corner.

With countless Mana Vortex Magi from all over the continent traveling to the city, alone or with a group, to witness the tournament, it was no wonder that the security of the city was on edge.

“So where are we going to stay, Anna?” Ada looked at her, her tone laced with boredom.

Despite being the daughter of a Duke from the Ignisra Kingdom, it would appear that she wouldn’t mind staying in a shady, run-down inn.

Anna, too, had had her fair share of troubles in the past. She had learned to adapt to her environment. Not to mention, she had lived in absolute simplicity for eight years in Behal Town with Adam.

“If we have no other option, then we might as well stay at one of those inns by the dockside,” she said, shaking her head.

Truth be told, she didn’t want to stay at such places. She would prefer somewhere nice… luxurious.

But one could only play the cards they were dealt.

“But…” Daryl hesitated. He didn’t want Anna, or anyone else in their group, for that matter, to stay at such shady places.

Besides, who knew if they would even get rooms at the inns by the dockside?

Moreover, he didn’t even know if they were going to stay in Ravenfell for that long. They had traveled to the Ulier Continent for one purpose, and one purpose only.

To take Adam back with them to Europa so that he could have a better life.

But now… the raven-haired youth was, in fact, hailed as the Dark King, a glorious and powerful Magus in Ulier.

Not only that, he was also a mighty Count of Ravenfell. The youth seemed to be doing quite good for himself here. One could even argue that this was the perfect life for him.

At that point, did they really need to take him back to Europa with them?

The words in Daryl’s words eventually died down. They truly had no other option but to stay at one of those run-down inns.

But the silver lining was that they would only have to stay there temporarily. After Adam returned to Ravenfell, they could just shift to his manor.

Yeah, I’m sure he has a spacious manor if he’s a Count, he thought.

Suddenly, Daryl thought of something else and couldn’t help but ask, “Old man Kasper, can’t you get acquainted with one of the local Mana Vortex Magi and ask for their help?”

He paused for a moment before asking, “I’m sure they would help a Magus of their station.”

Kaspar York nodded. “I was also thinking of that—”

However, before he could finish his words, there was a sudden commotion nearby. The crowd was initially panicking, but soon they burst into a round of cheers and applause.

‘They’re here.’ Kaspar’s voice echoed inside Anna’s mind, causing her to involuntarily straighten her back.

The crowd on the street soon parted, allowing a group of Night Mare steeds to pass through. Magus, wearing black armour, radiating a valiant aura, rode these steeds and seemed to be moving towards The Sleepy Hobbit.

Everyone gathered around the restaurant, waiting for the drama to unfold. Perhaps, some criminal had sneaked in, or someone might have caused some chaos at the restaurant.

Scenes such as this were a common occurrence nowadays. The security was so tight within the city walls that nothing escaped the eyes of the Magus guards.

However, this time it was different…

After all, this time, it was the elite Magi of Ravenfell, the Black Legion, that had made its move!

This elite group of Magi almost never acted within the city. They were also quite famous in these parts of the land. Moreover, their prestige had skyrocketed in the past year because of their Lord Commander.

The group of Magi from the Black Legion arrived before the outside seating arrangement of the Sleepy Hobbit. To be more precise, they had stopped right in front of Anna’s group.

The one leading them was none other than the Captain of the Black Legion, and former commander, Raidon!

He removed his helmet, his cold and calm gaze scanning the group of four before him. Despite there being a Rank 3 Magus in front, there was no fear in his eyes.

Raidon’s gaze lingered on Kaspar York for a moment longer before he shifted his attention to the two women, observing them carefully.

He got off his steed and calmly walked towards the group. The half a dozen black-armored Magi behind him followed.

The people gathered watched with bated breath, wondering just what would unfold now.

Raidon removed his helmet and stood before the group of four. His gaze shifted between the silver-haired woman and the crimson-haired woman.

His lips parted, and he politely asked, “My Ladies, which one of you might be Anna Fireborne?”

Kaspar York stepped forward, standing between the two women and Radion. He displayed a faint smile, but a peculiar light flickered in his eyes.

“Young man, may I ask why you are looking for her?”

At once, the atmosphere became tense. Kaspar was doing his job, protecting the princess. On the other hand, Raidon was also trying to fulfill his duty.

Although he didn’t like the old man’s attitude, he still relented.

“It has been brought to my attention that a relative of our Lord Commander has set foot in Ravenfell,” he said flatly.

“Therefore, my men and I have come to welcome her. Now, if you would kindly tell me which one of them is Anna Fireborne?”

Kaspar was stunned.

Daryl was stunned.

Ada was stunned.

Anna was the most stunned.

“What… did you say?” Kaspar asked in a daze. “Whose… relative?”

Before Raidon could repeat his words, Anna hurriedly stepped forward. With a tone filled with incredulity, she asked, “Your Lord Commander… what is his name?”

Raidon’s lips curled into a smirk, his eyes flashing with pride.

“The Dark King!”
