Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill-Chapter 77: First Entry into the Magic Net
「May 20th.」
The Magic Net Codex Li Wei had redeemed finally arrived in Maple City.
"Mage Li Wei, please sign for this."
He signed for and received the box containing the Magic Net Codex from a soldier.
"Thank you."
Back in his study, he opened the wooden box. Lying inside was a Magic Net Codex.
The Magic Net Codex was a book, but it only had two pages.
The cover depicted a lunar ring surrounding the Sun, with several stars scattered across the ring.
It represented the Ring Mage profession.
The back cover was covered in dense Magic Runes that would occasionally flash with a faint Magic Radiance.
Li Wei channeled his Mana into the Magic Net Codex, and the Magic Runes emitted a dazzling light.
A moment later, the light receded.
Only the Magic Runes remained, flowing with a brilliant, multicolored Magic Radiance.
Li Wei opened the Magic Net Codex and felt a pulling sensation from it.
He didn’t resist. The Magic Net Codex drew in his Spiritual Power, and Li Wei’s entire consciousness was immersed within it.
In an instant, he felt the world around him turn into a field of darkness.
The Magic Net Codex in his hands suddenly began to glow, emitting rings of light that expanded to encircle his body.
Each ring of light resembled the lunar ring and stars from the cover.
He became the Sun at the center.
’Ten rings of light... what are they?’
Just as Li Wei was wondering, the surrounding rings of light extinguished one by one and vanished.
In the end, only the smallest ring of light remained beside him.
The ring turned gray, its light dim, looking as if it might disappear at any moment.
The ring of light slowly rotated around Li Wei’s body.
There were three orbs of light on the ring, equally dim, that orbited Li Wei along with it.
Everything around him returned to normal. He was still sitting in his study, holding the Magic Net Codex.
The Magic Net Codex in Li Wei’s hands provided the answer.
A large circle appeared on the left blank page, with three smaller circles on it.
It corresponded exactly to the ring of light that had appeared around Li Wei.
He touched the page with his fingertip, and a stream of information flooded his mind.
"Spell Slots not unlocked!"
"Please go to the Mage Association or a Mage Tower to change your profession to Ring Mage. After unlocking, you can inscribe and swap Magic."
Li Wei suddenly understood.
Because he wasn’t a Ring Mage, the ring of light was dim, the circles were gray, and he couldn’t store Magic in them.
Li Wei had no intention of becoming a Ring Mage, so he simply ignored it.
He looked at the blank page on the right. As he swiped his fingertip across it, a large amount of information poured into his mind.
"Uploading Magic Models and Magic Theory not yet recorded in the Magic Net will earn you rewards."
"According to the Haiqinlun Formula, your current cumulative usage time of the Magic Net has reached 6 hours, 13 minutes, and 23 seconds. You can receive 1 Magic Coin."
"Current Magic Net Level: 0. Accumulate over 10 Magic Coins to upgrade to Level 1 and unlock the Basic Level Magic Net Treasure Vault. (Magic Coins from trading do not count toward accumulation.)"
"The Basic Level Magic Net Treasure Vault stores all Magic Models and Magic Theories below Tier Three from the Magic Net’s historical records."
Text appeared on the right page.
Magic Net Level: 0 (0/10)
Magic Coins: 0 (Remaining: 6 hours, 12 minutes, 5 seconds)
"The following is a free preview of the Basic Level Magic Net Treasure Vault. The content is refreshed once a month."
"An improved Magic Model for the Tier Zero Magic, Small Fireball Technique."
"Usage techniques for the Tier Zero Magic, Ice Arrow Skill."
"The strongest combination of the Tier Zero combination magic, Greasy Skill and Fire Element Magic!"
"A simplified Magic Model for Tier Zero Thunder Element Magic!"
"A study on the evolutionary history of ancient Wood Magic."
"Research on the Tier Zero Magical Beast Roar and a hypothetical prototype for Tier Zero Sound Magic."
"Research on how to quickly break free from Tier Zero Illusion Magic. Results have been verified as effective."
"The wonderful uses of Mage’s Hand."
...
All in all, there were twenty to thirty free trial articles.
After a quick scan, Li Wei found himself interested in quite a few of them.
He tapped on a single title, and the text on the page quickly vanished, replaced by new lines of text appearing one after another.
As more and more text appeared, Li Wei felt his Mana and Spiritual Power being consumed to varying degrees.
The Magic Net Codex consumed Mana to download information from the Magic Net.
This process also consumed Li Wei’s Spiritual Power.
Mana was the "power" for the Magic Net Codex, and Spiritual Power was the "data."
Without him realizing it, more than two hours passed, and Li Wei’s Mana was completely depleted.
He put down the Magic Net Codex, still wanting more.
He was still more than three hours away from earning a Magic Coin.
Magic Coins could be used to purchase Magic Models, Magic Knowledge, and advanced Magic Theory from the Magic Net Treasure Vault.
Although he hadn’t obtained any new Magic Models, the free trial articles on Magic Theory had been a real eye-opener for Li Wei.
Sound Magic was something he had never even heard of.
Yet someone had already begun researching it, creating a Tier Zero Sound Magic model to fill the gap where no such magic existed.
He had never encountered Illusion Magic either.
But he had learned a way to counter Tier Zero Illusion Magic in advance.
The gains were substantial!
Li Wei was already eager to unlock the Basic Level Magic Net Treasure Vault, anticipating the countless treasures of knowledge within.
If he wanted to raise his Magic Net Level quickly, his only option was to upload his own research and created Magic Models.
At this thought, Li Wei was suddenly jolted.
’Is this the purpose of the Magic Net? Or rather, the purpose of the Magic Goddess?’
’She’s absorbing the crystallization of all mages’ wisdom!’
’Whatever. What does this have to do with me? If the sky falls, someone taller will be there to hold it up.’
’I’m a mere Tier One Mage. Instead of worrying about all this, I should be figuring out how to get more Magic Coins and raise my Magic Net Level.’
Although he thought this, Li Wei also understood that he definitely couldn’t upload Magic Knowledge related to his core Power.
Otherwise, it might become a tool for his enemies to use against him next time.
’No need to rush. I’ll observe for a while first. I have plenty of time right now.’
Li Wei set down the Magic Net Codex. It lay on the desk, its cover flashing with a mysterious Magic Radiance.
He proceeded with his Cultivation as usual.
「That afternoon, Jimmy came to the Mage Tower looking for Li Wei.」
"Mr. Li Wei, do you have time today? The President and the Director would like to treat you to a meal to welcome you back."
Hearing this, Li Wei thought for a moment and decided it was a good idea to go out for a walk and get some fresh air.
A balance of work and rest was important.
Proper relaxation was conducive to Cultivation.
"Yes, I’m free today."
"That’s great! The President and the others are already waiting for you at Lafei Restaurant. Let’s go," Jimmy said happily.
"Just a moment, I’ll go change."
Li Wei went back to his room, changed his clothes, and put on his Invisibility Cloak.
For safety’s sake, it was best to always be ready for a fight.
Jimmy glanced at Li Wei’s attire. It didn’t quite look like he was going to a banquet, but he didn’t say anything.
The two arrived at Lafei Restaurant, and Jimmy led him directly toward a private room on the second floor.
"In here, Mr. Li Wei. Please, go ahead."
Jimmy pushed the door open and let Li Wei enter first.
Li Wei walked in.
POP!
A party popper went off, showering the air with colorful confetti.
"Happy birthday!"
Li Wei froze on the spot, staring at the few people in the room, momentarily unable to process what was happening.
He truly hadn’t expected someone to celebrate his birthday; he didn’t even remember it himself.
The last time Gus had asked for his birthday, he had mentioned a date offhandedly. He never thought Gus would actually remember it.
Gus smiled. "Come on in, Li Wei. It’s your birthday, and this is also to welcome you back safely." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Jimmy shouted from the doorway, "Ahaha, the cake is here!"
Li Wei came back to his senses, walked into the room, and glanced at everyone.
"Thank you."
