"Why do you want to eat these umbrellas?" Xie Daiyu asked as the Ruan family started walking back home. "Do you really want to die? Are the rumours really worth dying for?" even now Xie Daiyu thought that Ruan Chanchan wanted to die.

Ruan Chanchan sighed when she thought about the misunderstanding. She wanted to cover her face and cry tears of blood because all of a sudden, she gained a husband candidate for no reason. "Then what do you mean by collecting those mushrooms?" Ruan Zeqiu asked angrily. "If you don’t want to die, then what were you trying to do? Xie Daiyu also turned to look at the woman walking beside him. His eyes flickered with unease even though he knew that there had to be a reason for these actions of Ruan Chanchan. He trusted Ruan Chanchan but at the same time, he feared for her life because she was his destined one.

When Ruan Chanchan heard her brother’s accusation, she felt helpless. She said to him, "I am telling you that I don’t want to die. These mushrooms are indeed edible; I have eaten them in the past when I was a fool. Someone tried to feed these to me."

She didn’t recall such a thing happening to the previous host of this body but Ruan Chanchan didn’t regret making up such a lie for the sake of eating mushrooms.

"Who was it?" Ruan Zeqiu blew up; the second Ruan Chanchan told him that someone had fed her mushrooms. He ignored everything about what Ruan Chanchan said about the mushrooms being edible; the one thing that he was worried about was that someone had force-fed his sister poison. Of course, he didn’t doubt Ruan Chanchan, as he knew that a lot of people had tried to harm his sister when he was out hunting. They took Ruan Chanchan as an obstacle which was stopping him from finding a mate, so it was not a surprise that they tried to hurt her when he was not in the tribe.

There were times when he was not at the tribe and Ruan Chanchan was alone. That was when these people came to attack her. Sometimes he caught them in the act and sometimes he couldn’t. His sister was also a fool, so he couldn’t find out the perpetrators most of the time.

Ruan Chanchan shrugged casually. "It has been so long that I cannot remember anything. I only remember these mushrooms because I was really scared of dying. Thus, the appearance of these mushrooms stuck in my mind." She made a random excuse. "Anyway, that is not important. The important thing is that we can dry and cook mushrooms in winters."

"Are you telling the truth?" Xie Daiyu was very excited when he heard that these mushrooms could be dried and taken out in the winters; every winter, no matter how much meat they stored, they didn’t have enough.
