Part of her wanted to refuse but another part, the one who was still filled with guilt over the things that she had done to her husbands in her past life, stopped her. Nan Zhi saw the concern in Ruan Chanchan’s eyes and felt extremely envious of Xie Daiyu. Ruan Chanchan was so good to him and that mer and that mer? Though Nan Zhi had nothing against Xie Daiyu, he still felt that Ruan Chanchan should know about the truth of Chief Xie and Xie Daiyu’s reality lest she end up getting tied in a relationship which she didn’t want.

"I know that I am crossing my boundaries by telling you this but I heard Chief Xie and Brother Daiyu talking a few nights ago." Nan Zhi cautiously began. "They were talking about you; chief Xie is worried about you leaving the tribe, so she asked her son to get pregnant with your child." He paused and then continued on with some hesitation, "I know this is not something that I should be intrerfering in but I hope that if you get together with Brother Daiyu, it is because you like him and not because you were schemed against by him?"

Nan Zhi took Ruan Chanchan as his sister’s saviour. He didn’t want her to be taken advantage of by Chief Xie and Xie Daiyu. It wasn’t that he wanted Ruan Chanchan to separate from Xie Daiyu but he certainly didn’t want Ruan Chanchan to be involved with Xie Daiyu because the latter schemed against her. That would be truly insulting to his saviour.

"Really?" Ruan Chanchan was surprised when she heard that Chief Xie wanted Xie Daiyu to tie her up to the tribe by getting pregnant. She thought about how the little mer had been looking at her with that complicated gaze for a while now and didn’t know what to think.

She never thought that the little mer was actually tangled because of this. Of course, Ruan Chanchan didn’t believe that Xie Daiyu was going to take his mother’s advice, but because of his mother’s insistence, he must have turned insecure. Don’t let that mer’s confident stature fool you. He was stupid when it came to such things. He must have thought that what his mother said to him made sense; after all, he had once been abandoned by someone he trusted and after what happened to Shao Xia, Xie Daiyu dared not trust anyone else.

Ruan Chanchan heaved a sigh. She raised her hand and pressed the space between her brows. Recalling the tangled expression of Xie Daiyu, she had no idea what to say to him. "I understand. Thank you for telling me; I will talk with Xie Daiyu regarding this matter."

Ruan Chanchan knew that Nan Zhi had no bad intention; he was simply looking out for her. So, she didn’t take offence and even thanked him. Anyway, this mer helped her understand why Xie Daiyu had gone silent these past few days when he had been clamouring all day long to get imprinted for days.

Nan Zhi felt relieved when he saw that Ruan Chanchan was not blaming him. He nodded and then said to her, "my sister has brought these beast ribs but there are too many of them and we cannot eat them alone. There is not much meat on these ribs so you can stew them and send the soup to Zeqiu."

After he finished speaking, he handed the ribs to Ruan Chanchan and then ran away as if he was afraid that she was going to refuse.

Ruan Chanchan watched the mer leave and shook her head. She looked down at the bloody ribs in her head and felt a headache coming because these ribs were indeed a lot!
