Chapter 315: No Conscience (II)

Her face changed, and she couldn’t help but push Hei Ya away. She said angrily, "Ah Ya, do you even know what you did? What did you do to Ruan Chanchan? Don’t tell me that you killed her?"

When Hei Ya heard his sister’s last sentence, his face turned pale, and he shook his head. "I didn’t kill her! I mean, I wanted to, but I didn’t."

When Hei Bin heard his words, her expression changed again and again. The one thing that she feared was an undetermined answer; she would rather have heard a clear-cut answer rather than this wavering one. What did he mean by saying that he wanted to kill her but couldn’t? If he didn’t kill Ruan Chanchan, then where was she!?

She caught Hei Ya by his shoulder and roughly pulled him toward her. She questioned angrily, "What did you do to Ruan Chanchan? Tell me the truth!"

"I—" Seeing the fierce look on his sister’s face, Hei Ya was scared silly. The look on his sister’s face proved that if he didn’t speak the truth, she would kill him herself!

"What, I? Speak quickly. Don’t waste time." When Hei Bin saw that Hei Ya was wasting time, she couldn’t help but turn angry. "If you tell me where she is, maybe I can go and rescue her. Do you even know what will happen to you if something happens to her?" If Ruan Chanchan really died, then no one would be able to rescue her brother, not even her.

"I—I didn’t kill her. Believe me, I didn’t kill Ruan Chanchan. I wanted to, but she was protected by some divine powers when I tried to attack her, and she was pushed by that divine force—she ... she fell from the cliff."

When Hei Bin heard that Ruan Chanchan had fallen from the cliff, her face turned stiff. Because she naturally knew that there was now a stream flowing behind the mountain! This idiotic mer.

Hei Bin took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down before saying, "Hei Ya, you are really blind and not only are you blind, but you are also stupid. Ruan Chanchan had done nothing wrong. She has only helped the tribe in getting better, because of her, many of the orcs can survive this winter without worrying about starving to death. She also arranged for a reservoir so that we don’t have to take dangerous paths to collect water in summer. She did so many good things, and this was how you repaid her?"

"Place your hand on your chest and question yourself. Do you have any kind of conscience left in your heart? How could you do something like this to a woman who did nothing but help our tribe? Even if you couldn’t think of anything, you should have at least thought of these things before you took such a step!"

Hei Ya lowered his head. He was greatly embarrassed by his sister’s words and didn’t dare to say anything. Because every word that his sister said was right on point. How was he supposed to say that she was wrong? Ruan Chanchan had done so much for the tribe, and what did he do in return? He targeted her and placed her life at great risk!

"Let’s go." Hei Bin took Hei Ya’s hand and started pulling him out of the cave.

"Go... go where? Where are you taking me?" Hei Ya asked in fear. He was worried that his sister would drag him out of the cave and bring him to the chief, and sure enough, a second later, he heard her say,

"Go where? Where else do you think I will take you? We need to go to the chief and tell her the truth. We need to tell her that Ruan Chanchan fell in the river so that they can find her as soon as possible," Hei Bin explained with a tired voice. She was still thinking about how to explain the entire thing to the chief; if she told the truth, then her brother would definitely be killed. But if she didn’t tell the truth, then Ruan Chanchan would be dead for sure!

When Hei Bin heard that he had to go and see the chief, he immediately shook his head. He crouched down and sat on the floor of the cave. He then brazenly said to his sister, "I am not going. You cannot tell the truth to the chief ...if you tell the truth to the chief, then what will happen to me?"

Hei Bin never expected her brother to do such a thing. She raised her finger and pointed at him. "You... you..."

"I am your brother...your true brother. Please help me, sister; don’t tell the truth to the chief, sister or else I am worried that I will be ruined," begged Hei Ya as he sobbed incessantly in Hei Bin’s ears. He knew that what he was doing was wrong, but at the same time, he was worried that he would be killed at the hands of the tribe’s chief if the truth came to light.

"I don’t have a brother like you!" Hei Bin flicked his hand away and looked at Hei Ya with disgust in her eyes. "How can you be such a person? You have no heart, no soul and nothing! You are just a heartless bastard!" Hei Bin was really disappointed in her brother. It was one thing that he harmed Ruan Chanchan, but now he was actually trying to hide his crime, despite knowing that he had done something wrong.

Hei Bin fell on the ground and sobbed softly. "I had no choice. If I hadn’t done that, then Shao Xia would have ruined you. She threatened me with you—"

"Quit lying to yourself. Can’t I just leave Shao Xia’s team if she tries to do something to me? The reason you went to such lengths was because you wanted to protect Xiao Ya, you were worried about her which was why you took such a risk!"
