Half-Hearted: Mr. Sinclair, Stop the Act!-Chapter 101: Casting Bait
The subtle warmth in the living room was completely shattered.
Marriage?
Elementary school teacher?
Her childhood, the first half of her life, was lived in the oppressive atmosphere of a family of teachers.
She lost her reputation, her career, and even failed to keep Caleb Sinclair.
All she has left now are material possessions.
For her to give up and marry a teacher she utterly despises?
How could she ever agree to that?
Vivian Nash’s bloodshot eyes filled with despair and anger, her chest heaving, "Don’t you know the thing I hate the most is teachers? Mom, do you want to ruin me too?!"
Although she doesn’t like going home, with so much happening lately, her family was her last refuge and haven.
But now, even the mother she considered her last straw wanted to push her into the abyss.
The immense anger in her eyes surged like a tidal wave, and she roared, "Why? Why do I have to go back and marry just because you say so?
This is my life. Whether being a mistress or a second woman, it’s my choice, and you have no right to interfere."
Autumn Leigh, watching her daughter’s near-mad state, couldn’t believe her eyes.
It was as if she had never really known her daughter.
How did her once obedient, beautiful, and lovable daughter turn into this?
In her frustration, she raised her hand and slapped her, wishing to snap her out of it, "I think you’ve gone mad! Where is your sense of shame?!"
Slap!
The sharp sound of a slap echoed through the large villa.
Vivian Nash was caught off guard, staggering, as her abdomen unexpectedly hit the corner of the table.
The sharp pain clawed its way up, leaving her too stunned to react, and instinctively she clutched her abdomen, her face pale as she crouched down, pain etched across her features, "It hurts..."
Seeing this, Autumn Leigh panicked, rushing to support her, her angry tone turning to one of worry, "Vivian... what’s the matter with you?"
*
Ding!
[Vivian Nash has been pregnant for three weeks + 5 days, and her mother wants her to abort the child, but Vivian refuses. She wants to use this as leverage to win Caleb Sinclair back and is currently preparing to protect the pregnancy at Central General Hospital.
The doctor also stated that if she aborts this child, it will be difficult for her to conceive again. Be careful! She harbors murderous thoughts toward you again!]
When Sienna Monroe received the message, she was eating food personally delivered by Caleb Sinclair.
On the table, there was also a vibrant bouquet of red roses.
Impossible to ignore.
He had brought them along when coming over.
The phone was by the roses, and upon hearing the notification, she picked it up to take a look, each word like a bomb thrown into the lake of her heart.
Bang, bang, bang!
The continuous explosions left her mind frozen for a few seconds.
The turmoil in her heart was relentless, followed by a storm of complexity.
An indescribable complexity.
Vivian Nash was pregnant?!
Three weeks plus, almost a month.
Counting the days, isn’t that around the time Caleb Sinclair broke up and then reconciled with Vivian Nash?
For Vivian Nash, being pregnant might really be a miraculous turnaround card.
But it ultimately depends on Caleb Sinclair’s attitude.
Or perhaps... June Ewing’s stance.
No wonder Vivian Nash harbors murderous thoughts toward her again.
Given that she’s also pregnant, the value of the child in Vivian Nash’s belly could diminish by more than half in this situation.
Pregnancy protection at Central General Hospital.
A peculiar light flashed in her eyes.
Beside her, Caleb Sinclair noticed her suddenly halt, her face heavy as she stared at her phone, and he placed a piece of lotus root in her bowl.
Leaning over, he asked, "What are you looking at? So intently focused."
Sienna Monroe’s heart skipped a beat, his voice interrupting her thoughts, and she instinctively turned off the phone screen, making an excuse, "A message from the hospital, reminding me to go for a prenatal checkup."
Caleb Sinclair was taken aback, a gentle smile surfacing, "Which day?"
Hmm, which day?
Sienna Monroe lowered her gaze, silently calculating the days in her mind, then continued with her fabricated story, "Next Wednesday, when Auntie Rennick is scheduled for the clinic. She mentioned it to me a couple of days ago."
Sure enough, Wednesday was Auntie Rennick’s clinic day.
However, she needed to discuss certain things with Auntie Rennick in advance.
"Auntie Rennick?" Caleb Sinclair was puzzled, "Which Auntie Rennick? How come I’ve never heard you mention her before?"
"My mom’s friend, the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Central General Hospital." Sienna Monroe masked any trace of anomaly in her eyes, speaking gently, "You’ve met her twice, don’t you remember?"
Caleb Sinclair scoured his memory for a moment, conjuring up several vague images.
But none clicked.
The first time was at the Monroe Family’s, where several ladies were having tea in the backyard. He had gone to see Sienna Monroe and happened to greet them.
The second time was at Mrs. Monroe’s funeral, but that day was hectic. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Since she was Mrs. Monroe’s friend, he didn’t need to specifically schedule an appointment with an expert. A warm smile filled his charming eyes, "I’ll make time on that day to accompany you for the checkup."
Sienna Monroe responded with an "Okay."
Caleb Sinclair then asked, "Did Auntie Rennick mention if we need to prepare anything?"
Prepare anything?
Do prenatal checkups require preparation?
This, she truly didn’t know.
She shook her head, "I haven’t asked about that. I’ll check with her later. It’s probably nothing special, just a checkup."
"Alright, check on it. If there’s anything we need to prepare, I’ll handle it in advance."
Caleb Sinclair looked at her flat belly, his smile deepening, filled with anticipation for the prenatal checkup day.
From the day Sienna Monroe confirmed the pregnancy, he felt the child was both there and not, not quite real.
It seemed only by accompanying her to the checkup could he feel the child close to him.
Sienna Monroe avoided looking at his face filled with longing and yearning.
It hurt her eyes.
Now that Vivian Nash was also pregnant, if he found out, what would he decide?
Would he waver again, continuing to keep Vivian Nash supported outside?
Once the child grew older, would he bring them back like his father did?
And indeed, given her new understanding of him, it seemed like something he might actually do.
She pulled a sarcastic smile.
After quietly finishing their meal, Caleb Sinclair didn’t let her lift a finger, efficiently tidying up the thermal containers on the table.
He sat in her office for about half an hour before being called away by a phone call from the company.
Sienna Monroe escorted him out of the office, her lips pressed into a straight line. Only when his figure was entirely out of sight did she redirect her attention, turning back to the table’s bouquet of roses.
She frowned.
Suddenly, the roses didn’t seem so beautiful anymore.
She smirked and, without hesitation, went over and unceremoniously tossed the bouquet into the trash.
Just as she picked up her phone to look for Auntie Rennick’s WeChat, the phone lit up with a call, the pleasant ringtone echoing in the otherwise silent office.
The caller ID displayed "Uncle."
She quickly answered, "Hello, Uncle."
"Sienna, have you eaten?" Fabian Hughes asked with a smile.
"I have." Sienna Monroe’s demeanor softened, her voice gentle with a hint of laughter, "And you?"
"Already eaten." Fabian Hughes got straight to the point, "I found a related person concerning June Ewing’s beauty spa. The Vaughn Family’s Mrs. Vaughn, who has known June Ewing for nearly twenty years,
They both come from a society debutante training class, and their relationship appears to be quite good. I suspect she’s involved in the underground operations, so I’m preparing to investigate further into the Vaughn Family and wanted to let you know so you’re aware."
Sienna Monroe was taken aback.
Her uncle had actually traced back to the debutante training class from over twenty years ago?
Because of the time lapse, and due to the discreet nature of the training class.
Even Sebastian Prescott had specifically investigated it but found nothing suspicious, with barely any trace of the debutante training class.
However, now it was in the closing-argument phase, doing anything further might alert the enemy, resulting in more harm than good.
She pressed her lips together, her expression serious as she said, "Uncle, that Mrs. Vaughn is indeed one of Radiance Beauty Spa’s underground operations shareholders. You don’t need to investigate further,
I’ve already obtained the necessary evidence in my hands. "I want to bother you with something."
Fabian Hughes was momentarily stunned, feeling a bit puzzled, though refraining from questioning what evidence she had found or where.
"It’s no trouble at all, just tell me what you need."
Sienna Monroe spoke softly, "I want you... to help me set a bait."
