Half-Hearted: Mr. Sinclair, Stop the Act!-Chapter 109: Killing Three Birds with One Arrow
June Ewing received the call around three or four in the afternoon, but at that time she was attending a banquet in Westwood.
Upon learning that Sienna Monroe had a miscarriage and her son’s affair with Vivian Nash was exposed, she was also anxious and worried.
She had no choice but to instruct Mrs. Lewis to make soup and porridge.
When she arrived at the old mansion, she quickly changed clothes, grabbed the soup and porridge made by Mrs. Lewis, and rushed to the hospital.
Walking to the outer part of the ward, she heard Sienna Monroe’s sharp questioning remarks.
She deliberately waited outside the door for more than ten seconds, but unexpectedly heard her son’s humble and begging sobs.
At that moment, a sense of displeasure rose in her heart, and she pushed the door open to see Caleb Sinclair kneeling on the floor.
As a mother, seeing this scene, she instantly frowned.
But she could not vent her anger at Sienna Monroe, who just lost her child due to a miscarriage.
After all, it was indeed Caleb Sinclair’s fault.
When Sienna Monroe saw June Ewing, her emotions hadn’t dissipated, but she didn’t miss the anger in June Ewing’s eyes.
Seeing her son kneeling before her daughter-in-law, no mother-in-law would feel comfortable.
But whether it’s infidelity or Caleb Sinclair’s affair causing her miscarriage, ultimately, she had the moral high ground.
If the matter became public, it would be embarrassing for them and Isaac Sinclair would also lose face.
Would June Ewing dare to make this matter public?
She wouldn’t dare.
However, she could not let her resentment extend to June Ewing.
Simply blaming others would easily be defined as unreasonable behavior, and even when in the right, she’d lose her position.
At times like these, it was better to start complaining.
Tears cascaded down her pale and bloodless but still beautiful face, making her appear even more pitiful and tragic.
She cried weakly, "Mom..."
Due to her choked sobs, she couldn’t say a complete sentence, seemingly finding a support to desperately seek comfort.
"My child is gone, the child is gone... what... what should I... what should I do?"
Listening to her mournful cries, the dissatisfaction lingering in June Ewing’s heart was quickly washed away by her tears.
Her heart softened completely.
Though her goodwill towards Sienna Monroe had certain calculations, she had been her daughter-in-law for over three years, calling her mom for so long.
The lost child was still supposed to be her future grandson or granddaughter.
How could June Ewing not feel heartache?
"Oh dear, lie down, lie down, you are recovering from the miscarriage now, you can’t cry like this."
She hurried over, sat by the bed edge, and held Sienna Monroe’s somewhat cold hands, "I asked Mrs. Lewis to make you something to eat. Did you just wake up? You haven’t eaten all day, quickly eat something first."
As she spoke, she kicked Caleb Sinclair with the tip of her shoe impatiently, "What are you standing there for? Hurry up and open the food for Sienna to eat."
Caleb Sinclair snapped out of it, hurriedly responded, opening the thermos container, and scooping a spoonful of lean meat porridge to Sienna Monroe’s lips.
In a low voice, he said, "Honey, please have something to eat first."
Sienna Monroe didn’t look at him nor acknowledged the spoonful of porridge, remained silent with a tense expression.
Seeing this, June Ewing took the thermos and spoon, gently coaxing, "Sienna, be good, not eating will harm your own body. Let’s eat first, okay?"
Upon hearing this, tears welled up in Sienna Monroe’s eyes again.
Under June Ewing’s caring and gentle gaze, she ate half a bowl of porridge, drank two or three sips of soup, and then shook her head, saying she didn’t want any more.
June Ewing did not force her.
She coldly glanced at Caleb Sinclair, scolding sternly, "What have I told you before? Sienna is pregnant; I told you to be careful. Is this how you take care of her?"
Caleb Sinclair hung his head in silence, feeling a twinge of pain spreading rapidly throughout his body.
June Ewing felt furious seeing him in such a humbled state.
This life truly had him tightly controlled by women.
Sienna Monroe was one thing; she favored this daughter-in-law, but as for Vivian Nash, what did she count for? Was she worth his trouble?
With anger in her heart, the words that came out were unkind, "Get out, stop standing here and being an eyesore to us!"
Caleb Sinclair pursed his lips, instinctively glanced at Sienna Monroe, yet she didn’t return his gaze. He opened his mouth, and all his emotions condensed into a single "Okay."
He did not go far, just leaned against the wall in the hallway outside the ward. Without glasses, everything reflected in his corneas was blurred, seeming particularly spiritless and hollow.
Inside the room, June Ewing raised the bed head, allowing Sienna Monroe to lean against the pillow, and tucked in the corners of her blanket.
Feigning confusion, she softly asked, "On the phone, Caleb didn’t make it clear. Tell me, wasn’t today supposed to be a prenatal check? How did it result in a miscarriage?"
June Ewing’s tone and expression were filled with immense affection.
For a moment, Sienna Monroe was dazed, mistaking the comforting presence for her deceased mother.
But this illusion only lasted a few seconds.
From June Ewing’s expression, she couldn’t discern if she truly knew the details inside.
She choked in extreme sorrow, "Mom, he cheated..."
June Ewing’s heart sank slightly, showing surprise and shock on her face, "What? How is that possible? Aren’t you overthinking it again? Caleb couldn’t do such a thing."
Her acting remained, as always, impeccable.
Giving nothing away to detect.
What about Vivian Nash’s pregnancy?
Did she know?
Thinking of this, Sienna Monroe flashed her eyes.
Regardless of whether June Ewing knew or not, she had to express it sadly now.
She had no interest in how June Ewing planned to deal with Vivian Nash further.
Just wanted to stand in the position of an innocent victim.
If performed well, it could kill three birds with one stone.
First, deal with Vivian Nash, second, use Caleb Sinclair’s guilt to discard shares.
Only by resolving this concern, whether it be reporting Radiance Beauty Spa or divorcing, would become simple.
She shook her head crying, tightly gripping June Ewing’s hand, emotionally saying, "It’s true, it’s true, Mom, it’s not overthinking, he even got Vivian Nash pregnant."
Pregnant?
Vivian Nash was pregnant?
June Ewing’s shock exploded within.
She had made many calls in the afternoon, yet Caleb didn’t mention this at all.
Did he really plan to protect that little slut?
June Ewing’s heart was instantly filled with intense fury.
She had truly underestimated Vivian Nash; now, it seemed she wanted to use the emperor to order the lords?
That would depend on whether she allowed that little bastard to enter this world!
She quickly suppressed the gloom in her heart, showing an appropriate amount of disbelief on her face, "How can that be... how did you find out?"
Sienna Monroe caught the slight anger on her face, a thin layer of frost covered the depths of her eyes.
Caleb Sinclair truly hadn’t told June Ewing about Vivian Nash’s pregnancy?
Heh.
Did he really plan to let Vivian Nash have that child?
She suppressed the discomfort in her heart, furrowed her brows, and tearfully recounted today’s cause and effect, "Today we came to the hospital for a prenatal checkup, happened to meet Vivian Nash’s mother, who said she was on pregnancy care,
I was uneasy and went to see her, and kindly comforted her... Arriving at the rooftop, she changed her face and said how close she was to Caleb Sinclair, the child in her belly was his,
implying I should let her take my place. I was furious, calling her a shady mistress, never expected her to suddenly make a move, I was caught off guard, pushed away by her, and the child..."
She raised her hand to touch her abdomen, tears uncontrollably falling down.
In less than half an hour, her eyes were already swollen beyond recognition.
