Half-Hearted: Mr. Sinclair, Stop the Act!-Chapter 112: Entrusted by Another
Sienna Monroe’s heart skipped a beat.
Although she had long been acquainted with June Ewing’s ruthlessness, seeing this line of text still made her heart palpitate, and her gaze trembled slightly.
Forced abortions, something June Ewing certainly wouldn’t do in a major hospital.
She pursed her lips.
Her gaze fell on the last line.
Vivian Nash ran away.
Now, with a child in her belly, she ran away like this to avoid the spotlight, but also for what other reason?
Is she trying to be like June Ewing back then, waiting to raise the child a little older before returning to The Sterling Family?
With Vivian Nash’s cunning, she just might do it.
By then, June Ewing should already be in prison, and as long as she convinces Caleb Sinclair, it would actually be quite easy to achieve.
Of course, by that time, the Sterling Family would probably be led by Kian Sinclair and Hector Sinclair. Caleb Sinclair, having lost his mother and the support of the Hughes Family, whether he could still have a place in The Sterling Family is hard to say.
However, this matter didn’t have much to do with Sienna Monroe; she was about to divorce Caleb Sinclair anyway.
Even if it went to court, Sebastian Prescott said her side had solid evidence, leaving Caleb Sinclair without a word in his defense, but they might push for a settlement instead.
That would take at most a few months to have a result.
Thinking of this, she calmed her mind, knowing the more critical it was, the more she needed to maintain her composure.
Before she could put her phone down, the ward door was knocked, and she called out, "Come in."
The door was pushed open, and seeing Auntie Rennick, she was momentarily taken aback, then smiled, "Auntie Rennick, you haven’t finished work yet?"
Auntie Rennick nodded lightly, "Just off work. I heard from the nurse that you were awake, so I came to see if you’re feeling unwell anywhere?"
"No, I’m fine."
Auntie Rennick pulled up the chair beside her, looked at her scarlet eyes, frowned, and said with a hint of heartache in her voice, "Have you been crying?"
"It’s alright, Auntie Rennick, just acting."
"You discovered Caleb Sinclair’s infidelity while you were pretending to be pregnant, didn’t you?" Auntie Rennick held her hand, speaking softly, "Silly child, bearing it all alone? Didn’t tell anyone?"
Sienna Monroe laughed and said, "Haven’t I just told you?"
"You dare to say that! If I had known about your plan earlier, I would never have agreed. It’s too dangerous." Auntie Rennick gave her a sidelong glance, but thinking of her old friend, she couldn’t bear to blame her, "If your mom knew her precious daughter was being bullied like this, how anxious do you think she’d be up in heaven?"
Sienna Monroe was stunned for a moment.
Her eyes suddenly felt sour, and a mist of tears welled up, but she didn’t let them fall.
"It’s okay. Mom would be happy for me, to see their true faces sooner rather than being stuck in this mess for a lifetime."
Hearing this, Auntie Rennick’s eyes also reddened, "You’re right. Her daughter is so smart, so quick-witted, and she’s about to leap out of the pit of fire. Leah would be happy."
After talking for a while, the smiles on both their faces increased, and the heavy atmosphere in the ward gradually lightened.
Auntie Rennick suddenly remembered, "By the way, do you know Clarice Shelby?"
"Clarice Shelby?" Sienna looked confused, "Who is that?"
"The eldest son of the Imperial City’s prestigious medical family, The Shelby Family, and our hospital’s anesthesiology department chief professor, Clarice Shelby."
Speaking of Clarice Shelby as the anesthesiology department chief professor left Sienna truly at a loss.
But she had heard of the prestigious medical family, The Shelby Family.
His family had been doctors for four generations.
She incomprehensibly looked at Auntie Rennick, "I don’t know him. What’s up with him?"
"He was a great help in today’s matter. Although I had already prepared in advance, I was worried there would be mistakes. He personally came over this afternoon after I asked him. He said he came on someone’s recommendation."
On someone’s recommendation?
Sienna was slightly taken aback, and the thought of one person immediately popped into her mind.
Sebastian Prescott.
Was it him?
If it wasn’t him, who else would help her like this?
A ripple of gratitude spread in her heart, gently stirred, and her eyes softened.
Not going into too much detail with Auntie Rennick, after she left, the ward fell into silence once again.
That night, perhaps because of Auntie Rennick’s words, she dreamt of her mother, Leah Hughes, for the first time in a long while.
The dream was chaotic, with scenes from her childhood and the gentleness of her mother.
Then the scene shifted to her mother’s tense expression, eyes filled with anger, hands gripping the wheel, foot on the gas pedal, and in the next moment, her mother’s Porsche collided head-on with an oncoming truck. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
A loud "bang" sounded, the car’s body was crushed, and her mother died on the spot.
"Ah, no!"
She screamed, waking up from the nightmare, drenched in cold sweat.
Since the day her mother died, she had dreamt of this scene almost every night for a long period.
Even though she wasn’t there at the time, the scene felt as real as being there.
At that time, Caleb Sinclair feared she couldn’t bear it psychologically and specially invited a psychologist to counsel her. After taking medication for over three months, she indeed got much better.
At least she stopped having that dream.
"Sienna, what’s wrong? Did you have a nightmare?"
Before dawn, with the curtains drawn, the room was dark, but a familiar yet repulsive voice rang out.
The next moment, the bedside lamp was turned on, casting a dim light over the area.
Caleb Sinclair’s still swollen face suddenly appeared in front of her eyes.
The shivering and fear from the dream hadn’t subsided. She eyed Caleb Sinclair, tears gathering in her eyes but refusing to fall.
Caleb Sinclair, seeing this, was extremely distressed and gently reassured, "What nightmare did you have? Don’t be scared, don’t worry, I’m here."
After returning home, he sat in the main bedroom for a long, long time.
The past memories with Sienna Monroe flashed through his mind like a slideshow, over and over, tirelessly.
But these memories were like a sharp blade, digging deeper into his heart with every ounce of regret.
By around three in the morning, unable to sleep, he got up, took a shower, packed a few of Sienna Monroe’s change of clothes, and gathered her charger and daily necessities.
When he arrived at the hospital around four, Sienna was still sound asleep.
Not even half an hour had passed when he heard Sienna’s screams.
Sienna moved her lips, her throat somewhat dry, "I dreamed... of the baby."
Caleb Sinclair was stunned, feeling as if she had hit him hard, his expression somewhat uneasy but forcing himself to ask, "The baby... what happened to her?"
Sienna Monroe looked at him, speaking each word clearly, "She said... I couldn’t protect her, and she won’t come again."
In an instant, Caleb Sinclair felt his blood rushing backward, straight to his head, making him momentarily dizzy.
His eyes reddened with guilt, "I’m sorry, honey, it’s my fault for our child."
