Half-Hearted: Mr. Sinclair, Stop the Act!-Chapter 222: Delight
Sienna Monroe was a bit surprised, but looking at the soft little creature at her feet, her eyes inadvertently showed a smile, "Don’t be afraid, when did you... start raising a cat?"
She remembers that the last two times she came, she hadn’t seen this little one.
Sebastian Prescott said, "It’s been over two years. It was sick recently and was in the hospital. I just brought it back a few days ago."
Sienna suddenly realized, recalling that his WeChat profile picture was a short-legged cheese cat.
Exactly like this little one.
She asked, "Can I pet it?"
"You can. It’s quite affectionate. The disinfectant is in the cabinet to your right."
Sienna opened the cabinet and found it full of pet supplies. She sprayed some disinfectant on her hands, walked over, and squatted down. The little guy toppled over as if playing dead, exposing its belly.
As Sebastian had said, the little one was very clingy. She picked it up, and it merely meowed twice obediently.
She casually asked, "What’s its name?"
Sebastian turned his head to look at her comfortably holding the cat and slightly curled his lips, "Sienna. Do you like cats?"
Sienna looked down at the little creature in her arms, and for some reason, thought of the odd-eyed ragdoll cat she had a few years ago.
It was very affectionate too.
Unfortunately...
She collected her thoughts and said directly, "Yes, I like them."
Sebastian replied while busy with his work, "Then why don’t you play with it for a while? I’ve been quite busy these days, leaving early and coming back late, so no one’s been around to play with it."
Sienna indeed played with Little Cheese for a bit before heading to the kitchen to help Sebastian.
When she unconsciously saw the smooth muscular lines of his arms, she suddenly remembered the injury to his arm a few days ago.
She had completely forgotten about it these past couple of days. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Feeling a pang of guilt, she quickly asked, "Let me do it. You can just tell me what to do. Didn’t the doctor say last time that your arm shouldn’t be strained?"
Upon hearing this, Sebastian paused his movements, his deep eyes locking tightly onto hers, as if instantly building a solid prison around her.
Leaving her with no place to hide.
"It’s okay, it’s been much better these days. Today’s dishes are quite simple, not much trouble. But..."
Suddenly, his voice turned low, "It’s time to change the dressing today. The other day I had trouble doing it with one hand, and the bandage wasn’t wrapped well. Can you help me later?"
Sienna hesitated, not looking at him, but because of her guilt, she didn’t think or hesitate much and nodded.
"Sure, I’ll change it for you after dinner."
Sebastian softly murmured an "Okay," and if you listened carefully, there seemed to be a hint of subtle joy in his voice.
Sienna instinctively glanced sideways at him.
Just as he lowered his head, hiding his face in the shadows, making it unclear to read his expression.
She said she was assisting beside him during this meal, but she actually didn’t help much.
As he said, tonight’s dishes were relatively easy and didn’t take much effort.
Once all the dishes were ready, she helped bring them to the table.
Suddenly, Sebastian asked, "Would you like some red wine?"
"Hmm?"
Sienna paused while setting the tableware and faced his dark eyes, "You have an injured arm, can you drink?"
Sebastian’s expression remained unchanged, "I won’t drink. But I noticed you’re quite tense, with dark circles under your eyes. Haven’t you been resting well these past few days?
A friend brought some fish and happened to send a bottle of red wine as well. It’s not very strong, you can have a couple of glasses to relax a bit, and it can help you sleep better."
That’s true.
Due to concerns over Leo Monroe’s situation these past few days, she hadn’t been sleeping well.
Once Leo leaves the ICU tomorrow, she’ll probably have to worry again for quite some time.
But if she’s the only one drinking and Sebastian’s just watching, it doesn’t feel right.
Sebastian seemed to sense her thoughts and continued, "I don’t usually drink red wine either. You should try it, and if you like it, take some home later. Have a little before bed each night; it’s good for your complexion and helps you sleep."
Having said that, Sienna didn’t hesitate further.
She pondered for just over ten seconds, then nodded, "Okay. Thank you."
Since there was no decanter here, they took out ice cubes to chill the wine a bit, pouring the dark red liquid into a wine glass.
The wine swirling gently, the traces left on the glass resembling a splendid medieval glass lamp.
The aroma of the wine slowly permeated the air, carrying a unique, fermented fruit fragrance.
Probably to match the atmosphere, Sebastian poured himself a glass of juice with a wine glass.
Before starting, the two clinked their glasses lightly, the sound of glass clinking "tingling," pleasant and soothing, like a strong adhesive subtly binding their gazes with a trace of fragile intimacy.
It also inexplicably drew out a ripple of tender flow, harmonizing well with the sips of red wine.
Sienna was the first to look away. After putting down her wine glass, she slightly curled her fingers and easily picked up the chopsticks to taste some fish.
As she spoke, the corners of her eyes unconsciously carried a hint of a smile, "It’s so fresh, without any fishiness."
Sebastian also curved his lips slightly, "If you like it, eat more."
This meal lasted for almost an hour. Sienna had two glasses of red wine, not enough to get drunk, but she felt as if certain parts of her body had opened a vent.
All the resentment and impurities dissipated in an instant.
She felt much lighter overall.
