Harem Startup : The Demon Billionaire is on Vacation-Chapter 370: Greed Demons and Their Math Fetishes
Chapter 370 – Greed Demons and Their Math Fetishes
Lux muttered under his breath as the last screen flickered down to idle.
"Well, color me shocked. No disasters today."
His finger trailed the rim of his whiskey glass as he leaned further into the plush sofa. The scent of infernal ink and burnt gold still clung to the air around the closed system windows. For once, there were no alerts flashing, no volatile stocks, no unexpected soul-debts maturing early to crash the entire Greed ledger.
"...Huh."
The more he stared at the data, the more surreal it felt. Reports clean. Trends rising. No forged blood contracts slipping through. No catastrophic investment bubbles forming in minor circles. Even the underrealm treasury seemed to be... functioning.
"Guess Dad really did his job today," Lux muttered with a dry scoff. "No mess-ups. No mysterious gold losses. No blackmail attempts disguised as donations. Just raw numbers. Managed properly."
He tilted his head, half amused, half suspicious. ’What the hell is going on? Is this what competency feels like in the family?’
The whiskey glass lifted. He took a sip. Let the bitterness sit on his tongue before swallowing.
"It’s gotta be the confession," he finally said to no one in particular. ’Zavros probably thinks that if he acts like a proper Lord of Greed for once, I’ll believe he’s not a walking performance review from hell.’
He paused, narrowing his eyes at the now-blank system projection. "Trying to prove you’re a good parent through quarterly reports, huh?"
Lux rolled his shoulders back, muscle memory from endless meetings and throne room negotiations easing off.
"Well... I guess I can relax tonight."
And of course—right then—
-Fwuuuuush!
A portal hissed open across the room. A shimmer of velvet magic rippled through the space, carrying the faint scent of wine and perfume and something that smelled like ego wrapped in silk.
"I’m home, darling~," Sira sang, stepping through like she owned not just the portal but the patent on dramatic entrances.
She was flawless, obviously. Slit dress, thigh high, nails black as sin, aura humming with casual authority.
Lux didn’t even blink. He just closed his system with one smooth wave and said, "Welcome home."
And then—
Something peeked out from behind her.
Soft. Shy.
Like a literal bunny with legs.
"Lux~!" came the sweet, dreamy voice.
Lullaby.
She stepped around Sira like she hadn’t just stepped between dimensions. Her hair was a bit messy, her oversized dress slipping off one shoulder, and her arms already reaching.
Lux blinked. "Hello, Lullaby. Thank you for coming."
She didn’t answer.
She just dove.
Nestled right against him on the couch, curled up like she belonged there, arms around his waist, cheek on his chest.
"Long time no see, Lux~," she sighed, voice full of warmth and faint drowsiness. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Lux raised a brow. "You were literally in my room a few days ago."
She blinked. "Eh? You knew?"
"I sleep lightly. Your singing is kind of hard to miss."
Her cheeks flushed pink. "I... I was worried about you."
"You should worry about yourself," Lux said, patting her head with casual fondness. "Sloth territory leans on you too hard. Even for your bloodline, you’re pushing it."
Lullaby made a soft sound—somewhere between a pout and a sleepy hum. "But I’m fine. I still get my sleep."
She tilted her head up, eyes wide like she was proving something ridiculous.
Lux chuckled. "That’s not the benchmark, sweetheart. That’s just basic survival."
Sira rolled her eyes from across the room, one hand on her hip. "Okay, okay—can we skip the flirt nap-fest and get to the point? I want to get straight to where she’s resting. Where she can scan that little mermaid."
Lux stood with a stretch, fingers brushing his temples. "I agree. I want to know what kind of damage we’re dealing with."
Sira gave him a sharp look. "You want to know?"
He met her gaze. "I want to understand the process. It’s systematic trauma. Not emotional weakness. It has shape. Layers. Patterns. That means it can be charted. Maybe even undone."
"Lux," Sira said dryly, "you’re talking about a girl’s broken identity, not a quarterly loss."
"Same principle."
"Ugh. Greed demons and their math fetishes."
Lullaby blinked up at both of them, still nestled like a cat in Lux’s space. "Wait... what trauma?"
"You’ll see," Sira muttered.
"Is this therapy?" Lullaby asked, confused.
Lux sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "We’ll explain along the way." He glanced down at Lullaby—still curled beside him, still too soft for the world she lived in. Her power, gentle as it was, could collapse rooms if she wasn’t careful.
But that gentleness?
It was exactly what Ariel needed.
And somehow, he knew... Lullaby would get through to her.
Even if he and Sira couldn’t.
"Let’s go," he said finally. "Time to get inside the mermaid’s head."
"And hopefully not drown in it," Sira muttered, heels clicking in bored rhythm beside him.
The hallway leading to Ariel’s room was quiet. Too quiet. Even the air felt like it was holding its breath. The kind of quiet that made you want to knock twice before entering a room—even if it was your own house.
Lullaby walked between them, her bare feet making no sound against the polished stone. Her oversized dress swayed around her like a cloud, fingers fidgeting with the hem as she looked up at Lux with soft eyes.
"So... what happened to her?"
Lux didn’t stop walking. "She was taken from her family. Probably the Avariels. Dumped in Delmar’s household. Raised as a cursed siren."
"Mermaid," Sira added. "With pearl-producing tears. Do the math."
Lullaby winced. "So they kept her like... livestock?"
Lux nodded. "Milked her, basically. Emotionally. Whenever the pearls stopped, they punished her. Verbally. Physically. Maybe worse."
Lullaby bit her lip. "That’s..."
"Systematic."
"Cruel," Sira corrected. "But yeah. Efficiently cruel."
Lux tilted his head. "It’s what happens when sin meets business. They branded her as broken and made a profit out of it."
Lullaby’s steps slowed. "But... I don’t know how to fix something like that."
