Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures-Chapter 1514: The Battle to Protect Hogwarts
Werewolves are beast-like humanoids with the form of upright wolves, bloodthirsty and savage.
For a long time, they had been synonymous with terror in the Wizarding world, much like vampires. As some of the most infamous Dark creatures, they had left behind countless legends.
Fenrir Greyback, the King of Werewolves, was the most savage werewolf in the Wizarding world. His story was one of the darkest and most gruesome chapters among the many terrifying tales of werewolves.
Unlike other werewolves who only bit people during the full moon, Greyback insisted on drinking human blood and eating human flesh even at ordinary times.
He regarded biting and infecting as many people as possible as his goal in life. He wanted to build an army strong enough to eventually take over the Wizarding Community. To that end, he specifically targeted children. Within Voldemort’s Dark army, Greyback was, in some ways, the most terrifying presence.
After all, the most terrifying punishment that Voldemort and other Death Eaters brought to everyone was death, but Greyback was good at prolonging that pain indefinitely.
Just like Remus Lupin, his life changed drastically from the moment he was bitten by Greyback when he was a child.
Greyback was enough to scare any wizard who had heard of his deeds. But at this moment, the Gryffindor students were backing away not just because of his reputation, but because of his appearance. He wasn’t in werewolf form; it wasn’t a full moon tonight. He still looked human. But his appearance was even more horrifying than a werewolf’s: his face was pitted and uneven, with no intact skin — like it had been corroded by concentrated sulfuric acid. He looked completely like a ghost. Even Mad-Eye Moody, next to him, would have looked handsome by comparison. …
This ghastly appearance, paired with his sinister expression, made him look like a demon straight out of hell.
He had looked like this ever since the battle at Hogsmeade three years ago.
The damage caused by the corrosive curse was difficult to heal, and no healer was willing to treat Greyback.
So the wounds remained until they became part of his body.
They say scars are a warrior’s honor, but to Greyback, they were a source of utter shame.
Over the past three years, his hatred for Evan had fermented deep inside him, never fading for even a moment. Combined with the mocking of other Dark wizards and the disfigurement of his face, Greyback became even more bloodthirsty and cruel. Eventually, he stopped being content with merely killing or eating his victims’ hearts and flesh as he had before. He began to indulge in torturing his captives without restraint, deriving a twisted sense of relief and pleasure from their suffering.
Even among the Death Eaters, Greyback’s madness caused some panic.
But this seemed to have earned him Voldemort’s trust, a kind of deformed trust.
Greyback was now responsible for assisting Voldemort in processing the corpses he collected and turning them into flesh and blood.
In the deepest part of the Underground world of Knockturn Alley, in that Dark cavern, Greyback engaged in acts of bloodshed and depravity that ordinary people could never imagine. As he handled more and more corpses, his soul grew increasingly twisted, and the desire for revenge within his mind grew stronger day by day.
This time, coming to Hogwarts, Greyback didn’t care about Malfoy’s mission. He had only one goal, which was to kill Evan Mason with his own hands.
He wanted to rip open the throats of every Gryffindor student and savor the taste of fresh blood. …
So, after leaving the Room of Requirement, he didn’t follow the others to the Astronomy Tower. Instead, he led his followers toward Gryffindor Tower to carry out his revenge. At this very moment, staring at Hermione’s panicked expression and her delicate figure, he let out a triumphant, manic laugh, his crazed eyes gleaming with uncontrollable glee.
Greyback licked his lips with his blood-red tongue. He remembered this girl. He remembered that face. He could smell the delicious blood flowing inside her body.
It was so delicious, he couldn’t wait.
Just like that night three years ago, but this time no one would come to save her!
Revenge would begin with this girl; Hermione would be his interest payment.
And then, he would drag her corpse to find that boy!
Greyback wanted to make Evan suffer a thousand, ten thousand times more than the humiliation and pain he had endured himself. Just like the torment he had felt as a child when people recoiled from him after learning he was a werewolf, he would make every wizard who had ever looked down on him feel that same agony.
Hatred could only be met with hatred. The only relief from pain was to inflict even deeper pain.
Werewolves should take revenge on normal people. That was their right and what they were meant to do.
Greyback would not kill Evan, he would disfigure him, and then infect him to turn him a werewolf, making him a bloodthirsty monster like himself.
He even imagined placing the newly infected Evan next to Hermione’s corpse, waiting for the full moon, waiting for the madness to drive Evan to lose all sense of reason and hope, and bit by bit, to devour Hermione’s corpse. …
Yes, what a fine idea. Greyback licked his lips again.
Faced with the horribly disfigured Greyback, Hermione nervously raised her wand.
She could even hear her own heartbeat. Behind her, there were students screaming and sobbing.
This undoubtedly intensified the tense atmosphere and made everything worse.
Hermione panted heavily, but the wand in her hand did not even tremble.
She knew that she could not retreat. She had to fight until victory or rescue arrived.
Right now, all the guards and members of the Order of the Phoenix were fighting Death Eaters in and around the Room of Requirement and the path to the Astronomy Tower. There were far more Death Eaters tonight than anyone had anticipated. She had already sent Ron to inform Professor McGonagall and it should be in time. …
Earlier this evening, not long after Dumbledore, Evan, and Harry had left, the D.A. had sprung into action. Under Hermione’s instructions, no one had gone to sleep. Everyone had been anxiously preparing for tonight’s events. Hermione had learned of the Death Eater infiltration from Evan. She knew Dumbledore had made plans, and they had done what they could to prepare in turn.
The D.A. was also meant to take part in the battle to protect Hogwarts. That had been the plan from the beginning.
Hermione, Ron, Elaine, Ginny, Neville, Colin, and the others had all been nervously watching the Marauder’s Map, keeping their eyes on the corridor outside the Room of Requirement. It was nearing midnight, but before they could even spot the Death Eaters, Professor McGonagall arrived in the common room.
She seemed to know everything already and gathered all the students who were aware of the situation.
But that wasn’t the only surprising thing, tonight, the defensive lineup at Hogwarts was beyond anything anyone could have imagined.
In addition to Professors McGonagall, Flitwick, Hagrid, and other staff members, there were also members of the Order of the Phoenix: Lupin, Moody, Tonks, Kingsley, Sirius Black, who had not been seen for a long time, and many other witches and wizards whose names Hermione didn’t even know.
And on top of all that, they even saw Caresius and a group of vampires. …
