Hated By The Alpha-Chapter 162: Loud thoughts
"What did you do to me?" Melody glared at Audrey.
"Maybe she’s in the wrong ward, Doctor; I guess what she needs is a psychiatrist," Audrey whispered to the doctor.
"Dad, her bruise is gone, can we go home now?" Mikhail held Lake’s hand.
Lake was silently staring at Audrey; he knew she had done something; after all, she had told him that she was a witch.
"I’m sorry, Doctor, it’s a false alarm," Lake apologized.
"No worries, Mr. Aloha, your wife is lucky that the accident wasn’t fatal; if not, she wouldn’t have survived it; we’ll discharge her tomorrow morning; I’m keeping her here for observation, nothing more," The doctor informed and left the room.
"Come on, Mikhail, let’s give Lake and his wife some privacy," She went to take Mikhail, but the boy went behind Lake, hiding.
"She’s not my wife, Audrey," Lake’s voice was dark.
"Alpha..." Melody gasped.
"Andrew will take you back to the hotel; I need to take him home," Lake informed and held Mikhail’s hand, walking toward the door.
"Mikhail? You’re not even his father; the mother can take him home," Melody stood from the bed.
Lake paused, "Are you questioning my decision?" He asked.
Melody sighed and looked away; she knew she could never question him, "No, Alpha," She replied.
"He’s my father," Mikhail suddenly announced.
Audrey snapped her head to her son, shaking her head at him. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"Mikhail, let’s go home; it’s time for you to sleep," he stated sternly and walked out of the door, waiting for him to follow.
"Be good and what for Andrew, understood?" Lake asked.
Melody sighed and nodded, "I understand," She lowered herself back to the bed.
Outside the room, Audrey was standing on the stairs when she heard Lake walking out from the hospital room with Mikhail.
She turned turned to him and said. "You don’t have to take him home. I’m grateful for your company so far; we’d like to get going," She informed.
Lake shook his head, "You seem to be forgetting something," He walked up to her and stood in front of her.
Audrey frowned, "What?" She stared into his grey eyes.
"We have a contract to sign," He reminded.
Audrey was quiet for a while before she remembered that he had threatened her to work with him.
"We can talk about it in my office tomorrow, or wherever you want...just, I need to take my son home, he must be tired from all the playing and walking," She said.
Lake nodded without delay, "Agreed," He replied.
Audrey was surprised that he had agreed at once without an argument.
"Thank you, Lake, I’ll ask Leon to reach out to you about our schedule," She wanted to take Mikhail’s hand when Lake suddenly grabbed hers and started walking down the stairs.
They looked like a family, with their father in the middle as their protector.
Audrey was confused, she wanted to take her hand out of his, but she didn’t want to create a scene as they were already walking past the waiting area where people sat and stared at them.
Mikhail seemed to be happy with the way they were because he was looking at his mother with a cute, wide smile.
They soon reached Audrey’s car, and Lake opened the back door for Mikhail, helping him in while still holding Audrey’s hand.
He made sure to start his seat belt on before he closed the door.
He then proceeded to lead Audrey to the passenger’s seat, opened the door for her, and said, "Get in, Kitten; I’m driving us home," He whispered as he put his hand into her front pocket.
Audrey gasped as his hand went farther than it should have.
"What do you think you’re doing?" She whispered with widened eyes.
Lake was staring at her with oblivious eyes, while his fingers were slowly massaging the slits.
Audrey couldn’t believe this was happening in front of a hospital with her son inside the car behind her!
Lake leaned his head beside her and whispered, "What does it look like I’m doing, I’m just trying to get the keys," He chuckled darkly and drew the key out of her pocket, dangling it in front of her.
Audrey released a breath of relief when he took his hand away from her.
"I just agreed to talk business tomorrow; today, I’m just a Dad taking his kid home," He stated.
She was about to say something mean to him when he stepped away from her and placed a finger on his lips, "We’ve got a boy in the car, sweetheart; we don’t want him getting traumatized. Get in the car, we’re going home," He said and walked around the other side of the car, entering it.
Audrey closed her eyes to calm herself down; nothing had prepared her for this type of Lake: unpredictable, openly flirty, and spontaneous.
She had to find a way to counter his attacks if not, it’d be bad for both of them.
"Or we can just stop resisting and give in, let him possess us like he used to," Avery whispered.
"No, that’s not an option, don’t listen to her. Maybe it was a good idea to go back to the park with him; maybe the statue would have some answers as to why he still feels a connection toward you," Selena spoke in her soft voice.
Audrey was about to reply to them when she heard the honking of the car beside her.
"Oh!" She quickly opened her eyes and looked into the car.
"Moma, hurry and enter the car, Dad wants to leave," Mikhail called from behind the car.
"I’m sorry, Baby," She apologized and entered the car, immediately fixing her seat belt so Lake wouldn’t use it as an excuse to get closer to her.
"Sir tight, Angel," He said when he saw that she was ready to move.
Soon, the car was off the road, with Mikhail humming to himself behind the car.
Audrey ignored Lake and focused on the road, she couldn’t believe she had just been bullied into giving out her car to someone else.
But she knew she let it happen because it was him.
She recalled what Selena had said and thought board on it.
She had always wanted to visit her garden again; she also believed that she might get some answers from there, and it was just the perfect opportunity for her to go back home without having to hide.
Within her, she was also excited that her son was about to witness how it felt to live with a pack; she only hoped that everything would work out fine for them, especially for Lake; she couldn’t stand the idea of something happening to him again.
Lake drove the cat into Audre’s gate and parked it beside the house.
"We’re..." He paused and chuckled when he saw Audrey running out of the car.
She went behind the car and saw that Mikhail had already fallen asleep.
The poor boy was tired.
She leaned into the car to carry him out but she felt someone’s shadow looming over her back.
"Let me, Kitten," He whispered and placed both his hands on her waist.
Audrey gulped and straightened up, she moved out of his way immediately, wanting to get out of his subduing hold.
Lake went ahead and carried the sleeping boy out of the car.
Audrey closed the door and quickly walked ahead of them.
She climbed the stairs and pushed the door open to let Lake in, then she followed behind and shut the door.
"Audrey, welcome back; I’m almost done making your favorite," Leon’s voice sounded from the kitchen, causing Audrey to halt and turn her head to Lake; she could already feel the testosterone going high in the room.
Lake paused beside her, staring into the kitchen.
Audrey blinked, not knowing how to reply to Leon without making him feel and look stupid.
Leon had a black apron tied around his neck, stirring something in the pot.
When he didn’t hear her response he turned around to look at her, and that’s when he saw him.
Lake was standing possessively beside Audrey, looking right at Leon with Mikhail peacefully sleeping on his shoulder.
"Um, hi, Leon, I didn’t know you would be here," Audrey smiled at him.
Leon blinked away from Lake’s strong gaze and looked at Audrey, he managed a smile and nodded.
"Yeah, I didn’t know he’d be here either," he shrugged, pointing at Lake.
Audrey felt suffocated by the unfolding drama. Where was her mother? She knew how to neutralize such tense situations.
"Oh, Lake just happened to pick Mikhail up from school and took him to pack. You know how he is; he got tired and slept off. So he brought him home," Audrey explained, even though she knew she didn’t have to.
Leon nodded, "Ah, he’s so kind; he can leave now, right? He’s brought him back safely," He removed his apron and walked toward them.
Lake stood still, waiting for Leon to act out of place.
"I’ll have him, Mr. Lake; he needs to be laid down," Leon went to take Mikhail from him but Lake stepped away.
"Just get back to cooking for us, Leon, we’ll take care of him as we’ve done all day, right Kitten?" Lake suddenly wrapped an arm around Audrey’s waist and pulled her to his side.
