Chapter 108: Season Finale VII

The light was distant, and some ways off into the distance for sure.

A pale shimmer at first, stretching maybe two miles ahead, yet unnatural enough to catch Adam’s eye through the endless corridor of stone and iron bars. It pulsed, like the beat of a heart.

"I will take it that it is a good sign."

Adam said, as he went on all fours like a dog, as his pupils dilated, and he saw into the distance.

"This will be a good time to test out that werewolf strength for sure." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

Said Adam as he began to exhale slowly, the air around him vibrating with tension. Then, without warning, his body began to shift.

Muscles swelled beneath his skin with audible creaks, bones stretching, twisting...but not breaking. Patches of coarse black fur sprouted along his arms, shoulders, and chest, thick as a beast’s pelt. His fingers elongated slightly, nails sharpening into vicious, curved claws that gleamed under the dim light. Veins bulged like swinging cords of shadow as his Monster energy began to bubble and build, triggering the transformation.

Like all other abilities, especially the ones from monster kind... Adam just knows how to activate it by instinct, and instinct alone.

"grrrrRRRRHHHHH!!"

And soon, bestial instincts took over, as he began to growl like a wild wolf.

His jaw cracked as it widened, reshaping itself to accommodate the thickening fangs that now filled his mouth. They were not only sharper but also denser. They could easily bite through a thick sheet of metal like it was nothing.

Then his eyes snapped open as they became blood-red, fully saturated, twin infernos that pulsed with sheer power that was boiling more and more by the second. Looking at them, you could see there were no pupils.... or signs of whites in the eye.

Adam almost looked like he was going berserk at this very moment.

And then he talked, his voice reverberating into a creepy echo, as he said.

"HAHAHAH!! I did it... not going to lie... taking other monster traits for my own without any of the weakness is such awesome power."

"...But then and again, I came into this world different... I am so cool, hehehe...

Said Adam as he let out a breathless laugh, half-high on his own Monster energy. There was no other word for it, other than it felt good.

However, he was happy to finally do this.

[Full Partial Transformation]

The high itself was not like a sugar rush or an adrenaline spike.

But it was more like his own blood was boiling with purpose.

The more he used this power, the more right he felt.

Like his body was finally catching up to who he really was.

But at the same time... he felt stuck.

There was all this power in him, boiling just beneath the surface, but only a fraction of it could leak out before things started going sideways. He could feel it pressing against the edges of his bones, coiled up like a star trying to fit inside a bottle.

His body was complete.

But not in any normal way.

It was stitched together with too much potential, too fast, too raw on his human side, but on his monster side, where his genetics are still lacking in evolution. His Monster DNA felt like an infant being forced to connect to a sea of galaxies.

In a way, this was good; no matter what natural ability he gets, they can always stay on, or be used without end.

But sadly, the output due to evolution problems can only be used at a fixed amount per use, never going above the limits of the monster kind’s genetic limiter.

Then, just as the energy started to settle, reaching the limit of the werewolf monster kind’s limits of power to buff up the body, a familiar voice cut through the silence.

It was Losdeus.

[The Subject has demonstrated a variety of high-level feats concurrently]

[Individual rewards deemed inefficient due to how fast each feat was shown]

[Continue performing at your current trajectory]

[End-of-day evaluation and lore update will trigger auto-calibration of rewards]

Adam blinked when he heard these words in his head.

Then muttered.

"Okay... that is new."

He rubbed his jaw, trying not to laugh.

"So I broke the reward system in a kind of way here... Guess I’ve been doing too much extra credit for one night indeed."

He shook his head and rolled his shoulders, still riding the buzz of the transformation. It wasn’t even pride he felt at this moment; rather, it was something closer to amusement.

Now the system was watching.

Waiting.

"...Well your bias fuck Losdeus, you hate me but atleast, you abide by your own neutrality despite your hate towards me... I can respect that at least."

Adam said with a crooked grin.

"But better make it worth the evaluation...since you will give me a decent reward for this crazy night."

"Either way... let’s test out a few things here first and foremost... like strength-wise."

From there, Adam stepped out into the cracked ruin of the prison court.

His eyes scanned the open space. He needed something big.

Something heavy.

Then he saw it.

A boulder, if you could even call it that. It sat dead-center in what might have once been a ceremonial platform. About fifteen feet tall, broad as a truck, with jagged edges.

"Huh."

Adam muttered, cracking his knuckles.

"That’ll do."

But before that, he tilted his head toward the air, eyes narrowing slightly as he asked.

"Hey, System. How much does that rock weigh?"

『Approximately seventy-four tons. Material appears stone-like but possesses a high-density crystalline structure. Not actual rock. Closer to compressed Obsidium layered with Grave Sand』

Adam whistled low when he heard how heavy this thing was.

"Seventy-four tons, huh?"

He glanced down at his clawed hands, still faintly glowing with his own monster energy. He then flexed his fingers once, then twice.

"Feels like the perfect benchmark."

Adam then rolled his neck and arms as he ready himself for what he was about to do.

"Let’s see what a thousand-times-buffed werewolf strength can do."

He strode across the court, claws clinking slightly against broken flagstone. The boulder loomed larger the closer he got, casting a slanted shadow.

Adam didn’t hesitate.

And then he reached it and kicked it up into the air.

"Wow.... this thing felt like kicking a beach ball."

The rock soared high above him before it came crashing down. If he did not move, he could get squished by the weight alone.

Or that was what was supposed to happen, but it did not.

Because the rock came down right on top of him, but all Adam did was put his weaker hand up, that being his left hand, and it landed firmly in his grip as he lifted the rock in the air.

"Hmmm... It’s like holding a single grape, don’t even feel the weight at all."

Adam commented.

He then threw it back up.

And as it fell down, his claws sank into the underside of the rock like rebar through wet cement. The ground beneath him cracked outward in a spiderweb as the weight shifted.

As he jumped up and punched it.

BOOOOM!!

A loud explosion went off, as the rock exploded by the monstrous striking force, as pieces after pieces flew in various directions.

"HAHahAHA! Yes!"

"....This is fucking awesome."

He said as he landed back on the ground.

"...Seventy-four tons, huh?"

He said, cracking a smile.

"I still can’t believe I managed to lift and destroy this thing...

『Well, you can thank Morgan’s spell; normally speaking, you would barely get that thing off the ground』

"Still, it’s amazing what monster ability and magic could achieve if you use both of them together... This has motivated me greatly indeed."

『Hmmmm, well, it is a good combo, that much I will admit, maybe if you implement your natural abilities, with magic, you can create a formidable fighting style, especially given how rare it s for people to use magic, maybe even throw in your lore abilities』

"That is a good idea... But since we have tested out my strength, let’s test speed."

『Knock yourself out』

Without saying anything else, Adam aligned himself in a running position, as he wanted to run towards the red light.

As such, he prepared to take off.

And faster than the eyes can keep up with, he started to run.

The sound barrier broke seven times over, and the place started to shake a little as a result of the shockwave.

BOOOOM!!

The world around Adam zoomed in quickly, as he began to run forward, he had long passed the red light, and was now heading to the end of this place, which was six miles in.

He covered that distance in 4 seconds, and it took him another 4 seconds in real time to reach back where he ran.

His body was like a blur, going back and forth between places, and it thrilled him a lot.
