Healing System-Chapter 285 : Disturbing Idiots On The Road
"Uhh... Where am I?" Celeste asked, her eyes groggy as she looked around.
She still sat beside Michael, who was simply enjoying his pizza.
But from the looks of things, it seemed like she didn't remember what had just happened.
Or so he thought, but in the very next instant, her cheeks flushed red as she covered her face.
"W-W-What did we just do in public..."
"No one saw." Michael shrugged, taking another bite of pizza before extending it toward Celeste. "Want a piece?"
"No! Wait! Yes..." She denied, before readily accepting.
Definitely a strange woman.
"I hope you learned what happens when you tease me like that," Michael said with a chuckle. "Or maybe next time, I'll do something even naughtier."
"Evil man..." Celeste grumbled, her cheeks still flushed.
"Did you enjoy it...?" she muttered, making his ears perk up.
"Obviously. Who would I be if I didn't enjoy that? Haha..." Michael exclaimed before finally taking the last bite of pizza.
However, he still felt rather hungry, so he called the barkeep and ordered some soup instead.
But of course, what had just happened with Celeste would be something that likely would come to bite him in the ass in the future.
In all honesty, though, Michael would hope it did, since surprisingly, her reactions were simply too cute.
[My eyes...] the system exclaimed dryly. [Give me a trigger warning before you do some shit like that.]
Sorry, though you probably can see my mind to an extent, so you could have just stowed yourself away in a corner. Michael replied with a smile. I'll pretend like I didn't hear you eating popcorn in the background.
[W-What? Shit... I forgot to cut the comms, didn't I?]
Yep, rookie mistake. Michael chuckled, turning to Celeste. "How do you feel?"
"Is it weird if I feel... sore?" Celeste replied, a conflicted look on her face. "I can barely remember what happened... I passed out after a few seconds of you putting your fingers inside."
"Well, I guess you're just fatigued or something. It's not every day you get to experience something like that," Michael remarked.
"Hmm? Well, it was my first time," Celeste said absentmindedly, making his brow rise. "I haven't been with a man before, after all."
A virgin. Michael gulped. "Yeah? Well, that's good to know. Though you should probably eat your heaven's caviar."
"Oh right, that thing." Celeste grabbed it.
It was literally caviar, just plated with cheap gold on top of it.
Taste-wise? It was the same as normal caviar.
The rest of his food soon arrived, and Michael immediately devoured it before moving on to other matters.
And they included getting to know Celeste.
"Celeste, what do you think of heaven? Or is that a vague question..."
"It's fine." Celeste shook her head. "I get what you mean... I was born here and lived here my entire life. Although this is a lower branch of heaven, it still gets the job done."
"Lower branch?"
"Yes, heaven is separated into multiple branches. The higher you go, the stronger the beings are. We are in the lower branch, meaning we won't find any strong people present."
"Is that it?" Michael asked.
Celeste took a bite out of her caviar before continuing, "We can ascend once we become full-fledged angels... or if someone from the higher branches comes and picks us up."
[That's how I got recruited,] the system remarked. [A Seraphim came down to clean some stuff up but found me instead. I was still pretty young at the time, and my wings were tainted. The Seraphim helped me by teaching me how to mask the Fallen status. And yeah, I was taken up.]
Interesting... Michael thought.
"Is this the only academy in heaven?" he couldn't help but ask.
"There are a lot of them, and every single one shares the same name..." Celeste replied with a sigh. "I wanted to go to a higher branch since my parents are pretty strong, but they wouldn't let me."
"I guess they are just trying to protect you," Michael commented. "If you're higher up, you're also more prone to dangerous situations. Wouldn't be very nice if their daughter got killed by someone 10 tiers higher than her."
Celeste let out a giggle. "I guess you're right... but I'm glad I didn't go."
"Why? Oh..." Michael didn't need to wait for an answer, as Celeste hugged his side, burying her face in his chest.
He still felt awkward about it, but showing such affection really did feel heartwarming, so he caressed her hair.
Eventually, breakfast was finished, and they went out of the inn and back toward the academy.
She still stuck close to him, and he didn't bother pushing her away.
Despite that, Michael noticed something interesting.
Ever since he first arrived in heaven, there was a presence constantly watching him.
Normally, he wouldn't feel it. However, due to him becoming a powerhouse for a year and a bit, he was able to distinguish strong presences.
This one, in particular, seemed to belong to someone at Tier 15 in power.
Not a lot, but definitely enough to kill Michael in his current state.
Therefore, he chose to ignore it while also trying his best to mask his own presence, distorting what the person would be seeing.
After all, Michael didn't want to have any spectators watching while he fingered Celeste.
[Aaaah! Stop with that!] the system exclaimed. [Let me eat my food in peace, you bastard!]
You're a lot more emotional than I remember, Michael remarked. Back in the past, you were like a robot, but now, it's almost like you're a second me.
[What a coincidence, huh?] the system snickered. [Though I don't really care for your bullshit. Just make sure to warn me before you do anything like that again so I can drop the blinders.]
Blinders...?
[Yep.] the system affirmed. [You have eyelids. I have curtains and a soundproof headset. Good luck, Michael. I'm going to eat now—]
With that, the system's voice cut off, making Michael let out a sigh.
"Celeste?" he called out. "What do you see in me exactly?"

"Your charming smile, your carefree and laid-back personality, which you try to maintain despite hiding a lot of secrets... Also, I like your boldness a lot... and the fact that you don't push me away," she replied shyly.
Hearing that, his heartbeat sped up as he patted her on the head.
But the moment he did, he had a drastic thought, which, despite his inner moral compass, he couldn't help but say out loud.
"...Do you want to stay the night at my place?"
Her ears turned beet red in an instant as she halted in place.
However, since he didn't want to be late, he picked her up in a princess carry.
"Michael... I—"
Her words were cut off when all of a sudden, a flock of students approached.
They were definitely not the ones from his class. Instead, they were those who flunked and got sent to either B or C class.
"Hey hey, what are these two love angels doing here, huh?" one of them spoke tauntingly, approaching Michael. "You wouldn't want trouble, right? Leave the girl. I have a thing or two I want to talk with her about."
"Fuck off," Michael said coldly before stretching out his arm.
The moment he did, a sharp golden sword emerged and flew straight between the annoying person's forehead, killing him in an instant.
"You! Do you know what you've done!?" another screamed, and Michael sent another sword toward him, cutting his neck clean off.
"You'll come back soon, so why piss about, huh?" Michael asked as he turned to the only person remaining, "Also, if the headmaster or anyone wanted to enforce some shit rule, they would come down in the first place."
After all... who else other than the headmaster is watching me? Michael thought with a smile before sending a side kick toward the last remaining person.
The side kick managed to blow his torso clean off as his head dropped lifelessly to the ground.
But of course, just like the rest of the blood that would've gathered, Michael caught it with a golden trash bag and desummoned it.
It worked like a portable incinerator.
Nice, now what's left... Michael turned toward the humming Celeste buried in his chest. "What's up? You seem cheerful?"
"Hm? Oh..." She looked to the side sheepishly. "I just didn't think I'd see you fight for me... I feel all warm and fuzzy now."
Michael chuckled as he patted her head once more and walked back to class.
It seemed like it had just ended, and as for his earlier proposal of her sleeping with him? He didn't want to bring it up for the time being.
As awkward as it was, he would much rather avoid the embarrassment altogether.
Nonetheless, they entered and met Arthur's fierce gaze as he signaled for them to sit down.
They did just that, with Celeste flashing cheeky grins toward all the girls in class.
"I hope you two enjoyed your time off. Please refrain from doing that again," Arthur said sternly.
"Yep, will do, teach." Michael saluted playfully, making Arthur's brows twitch.
God, it's fun teasing this guy. Michael snickered, and soon, Arthur spoke.
"Ten minutes of rest, and we will be doing some basic combat class. I will help you find your perfect weapon."
Oh? Michael raised his brow.
I wonder if the sword is the only thing I'm decent at.
