Heart Over Sword-Chapter 267: The Queen’s Lover
Chapter 267: The Queen’s Lover
Arawn stroked the side of Evanna’s face. She fell asleep so swiftly and still in that dress. Leaning down, he kissed the top of her head before sliding off the bed and adjusting himself in his pants. He hoped she would dream well and would not be overcome with nightmares.
The prince walked to the doors and glanced back. He would check on her before he returned to his chambers. Walking through the doors, he stopped and stared at Garrett. His usual stoic expression had a small smile on his lips.
Did he hear them inside?
"*What is wrong with your face?*" Arawn asked, arching an eyebrow as he felt his erection die.
Garrett frowned, the smile wiped clean from his face as he looked at the prince. "*What do you mean?*" He asked gruffly.
Arawn assessed the elf more, head tilting to the side slightly. Garrett did not hear them in the bed chamber. No, he was smiling about something else. Garett never smiled, not unless Arawn did something a little wicked and amused them both.
Was it a woman? Fiza?
Arawn’s smile was also a rare occurrence, reserved solely for moments involving Evanna. So was this the same for Garrett?
"*What have you been doing?*" Arawn enquired further.
Garrett held his stare, a bold move which only he could do with the prince of Flori. Bluntly, he said, "*I have been guarding this door. What else?*"
Arawn was not convinced by his response. "*Is that so?*" His gaze moved to the beads of sweat at his neck and the slightly ruffled clothing. "*Did Fiza come by?*"
Garrett’s eyes widened, the only indication that Fiza had indeed visited the warrior. Amused, Arawn asked playfully with a subtle chuckle in his voice, "*Did you... against the wall?*"
Garrett cleared his throat. "*I was still alert. Guarding... I did nothing-*"
"*So you let Fiza do all the work?*" Arawn grinned, eyes crinkling in amusement. He turned away, ignoring Garrett’s responses. He didn’t care as long as he was vigilant and did his job. "*Remain by her door. I need to speak with the king.*"
Garrett’s steps sounded, halting Arawn’s. He spun around and glared at his friend. "*I will not be alone. Roach and Axel are still in the hall. I fear they might be sucked into one of their twisted games.*"
Garrett’s lips parted to argue, but he stopped himself, glancing over his shoulders to Evanna’s room. With a single nod, the warrior returned to his post and watched as the prince continued down the hall.
Arawn was a big boy; he could handle himself. That didn’t mean Garrett wouldn’t worry about him.
In the hall, Arawn strode through confidently, eyes sweeping past the bloodied dance floor and games the fae and elves were now entertaining themselves in. He located Ronan and Axel, who seemed to be stuck in a conversation with Queen Iolena. As Arawn approached from the direction he had been walking, he could sense their discomfort. Axel’s own cheeks were flushed, and the same could be said for Ronan, whose slurred speech and leaning toward the queen in an attempt to charm her indicated his state of inebriation.
What surprised Arawn, yet shouldn’t have, was the way the queen giggled at Ronan and flirted back. He glanced at King Nuvian, who sat on his throne. He was focused on the ’delights’ of the dance floor, a woman sitting on his lap, his hand resting on her hips. It was known they had lovers, one of Queen Iolena’s being her right-hand man, but he didn’t think they were so open about it.
Still, those in their courts did not care. Why would they when they had such entertainment? Queen Iolena and King Nuvian rule Lyvaria well. They were just utterly cruel, crueller than the woodland elves.
Arawn ignored the discussion between Axel, Ronan and the Queen, deeming them fine, if not for the third wheel, Axel staring at his drink, and continued to the king’s side. At his approach, the king’s gaze flicked from the gory entertainment and to the prince. His green eyes were sharp and cold compared to Evanna’s, yet there was much wisdom there.
"*We need to talk,*" Arawn said, glancing from the king to the woman on the king’s lap.
He sighed and patted the woman’s thigh. "*Speak.*"
Axel’s gaze moved from the delicate glass in his large hand, past Ronan and the queen to Prince Arawn, who had returned after being away from the hall for over an hour. Axel did not like this place. Everyone was promiscuous and violent. The atmosphere was intense, and he couldn’t wait to leave.
Ronan appeared fine because he was drunk. Axel only remained there to keep an eye on him and to stop him from saying something foolish. He may flirt and charm the queen, but Axel would stop him from bedding her. It was clear from the way she’d watched the king’s lover approach him that she was, in fact, deeply in love with the winged fairy.
Axel did not want his friend to get in the middle of them. Whether the king and queen had an open relationship or not, the king could still kill Ronan for sleeping with her. His concern also moved to Arawn, who now seemed in deep conversation with the king, so much so that King Nuvian rose from his seat, and the pair left the hall together.
Was he really leaving them in the hall with all these murderous fae and elves?
Axel had enough. He was curious about the king and prince’s conversation, but after all the drama that had been unfolding, he knew Prince Arawn wanted to do what was best for Evanna. Sighing, he abruptly stood from the table, his legs pushing it back slightly, his chair scraping against the floor.
Ronan’s head swivelled at the same time as the queen’s. "Thank you for a wonderful meal. We have travelled a long way and are weary. We shall retire for the evening," Axel bowed his head respectfully to the queen. freēnovelkiss.com
"We?" Queen Iolena glanced at Ronan. "Will Raon not stay a while longer?" Her hand moved under the table, causing Ronan’s back to straighten.
The queen had heard from the slaves how much vigour this young man had. They described him as being well-educated in female anatomy, and none of them had to fake their orgasms. It intrigued her, and she wanted a taste. While Edric was her primary lover, the queen had a penchant for exploring new and exotic experiences.
It was a shame he was human, but if his prowess matched the tales the servants shared, then she would overlook such a detail. Her hand caressed Ronan’s groin as she held his heated, slightly glazed gaze. The elven wine was stronger than humans and very delicious.
Axel did not need to look under the table to know what the queen was doing. It irritated Axel. He did not want the attention, but the queen didn’t even get Ronan’s name right! He wasn’t sure if Ronan wanted saving or not, but he knew what would make him leave his seat.
Leaning forwards, his hand placed on the table, Axel towered over Ronan and whispered into his ear, "What is one queen compared to four women that will do ANYTHING you say? FOUR."
Ronan moved his head and sighed, the smell of alcohol strong on his breath. He looked at Axel like he was the fool. Whispering back, not as quietly as he should have, Ronan said, "The queen is one hundred times more than those women-"
"The queen could have you killed if she tires of you," Axel whispered harshly back.
Ronan sobered at his words. "Maybe I was being a little dramatic..." He cleared his throat and focused his blurred attention on the beauty before him. He did not move the queen’s hand from his crotch, though he suspected if he did, he might lose his fingers or worse... "Apologies, your majesty. I am out of sorts and need assistance in returning to bed. Axel has offered to take me back like the valiant friend he is.."
He patted Axel on his stomach, grinning, before working his charms on the queen so she would release his member from her grip. Now that he was focused on her, her eyes were far too cold and cruel, making his length deflate. Yet, he laid his charm on thick so she would not notice. His breeches were loose anyway.
"Queen Iolena, your radiance outshines the stars themselves, and your gracious presence has made this evening truly enchanting. However, as the night grows late, I must bid you adieu and retire, but the memories of this delightful time shall forever dance in my dreams." He bowed his head and gulped upon hearing her low chuckle.
"Leave." She removed her hand, waved the other dismissively, and looked behind them. "Edric, let us retire. I grow bored of this."
Ronan and Axel watched, gobsmacked, as the queen rose from her chair, accepting Edric’s hand. They looked a little too cosy to be anything less than the queen and her subject. Ronan placed a hand on his chest, feeling a little nauseated.
"I feel so ... used."
He then vomited onto the floor.
Axel rolled his eyes. "Come on."
