Heavenly Dragon Doctor Son-in-Law-Chapter 26 - 27 Heavenly Dragon Guarded by Xuewu
"Chuchu said she gave you those business deals, that you didn’t have to lift a finger for them."
Upon hearing this, Qin Long let out a cold snort.
Tang Xuewu’s gaze filled with despair. Her grandfather was either completely deceived by Tang Chuchu and Tang Yuxiang, or he was deliberately protecting them. At this point, Tang Xuewu was so utterly disappointed she no longer wanted to say another word.
"Xuewu, those things aren’t important," Old Master Tang said. "I only care about value. You haven’t brought any real benefit to the family in years. What’s more, because of this worthless man, your own reputation is in tatters, and you’ve dragged the Tang Family down with you, making us the biggest joke in town."
Old Master Tang glanced at Qin Long with utter disdain.
"Look at Chuchu and Yuxiang. They secured the contract from the Yaolong Group for the family," he continued. "That contract is the kind of benefit I want. Can you accomplish something like that?"
The old master’s words left Tang Xuewu so ashamed she could barely face anyone. It was true; she could never have secured that contract.
"Forget a minor company like the Yaolong Group," Qin Long said, his gaze turning cold as he looked at Old Master Tang. "Even the Jianglong Group, the top financial group in Jiangtian Province, would voluntarily bring major contracts to our doorstep."
At his words, the room erupted in raucous laughter.
"Qin Long, could you please stop posturing for once?"
"Grandfather, I want to report Qin Long for assault!" Tang Yuxiang snarled through gritted teeth. "Just now, Qin Long broke my index finger and smashed my face with a fire extinguisher!" As he spoke, he held out his hand and turned his face for all to see. The bruise on his cheek and the bloody mark on his finger were starkly visible.
Upon seeing this, Old Master Tang’s expression soured, his brow furrowed deeply.
This is my beloved grandson. The Tang Family took in a crippled dog, and it dared to lay a hand on Yuxiang? Forget that he’s crippled now; even before his injury, as a supposed prodigy from the army, was he even worth one of my grandson’s fingers?
"Grandfather, he tried to force me to give the Yaolong Group contract to Xuewu," Tang Yuxiang lied. "When I refused, he started beating me. I tried to hold back because of his disability, but I just couldn’t take it anymore!"
Tang Yuxiang turned the tables, playing the victim. The other witnesses wouldn’t step forward to explain the truth; they were more than happy to let this happen.
"Oh, my poor brother Yuxiang..." Tang Chuchu started to cry, dabbing at her eyes theatrically. "He just achieved such a great success, and now his finger is broken... Will his face be scarred forever? That man is terrifying. Instead of receiving flowers and applause for serving the family, our heroes are met with daggers. Is there any justice in this world?"
Hearing this, Old Master Tang’s face turned green with rage. This was his own precious grandson, after all, and he naturally wanted to protect him. Moreover, the two had just landed a major contract from the Yaolong Group.
If word of this got out, wouldn’t the family become a laughingstock? This matter has to be dealt with seriously. Otherwise, who will be willing to make sacrifices for the family in the future?
"Qin Long, how do you explain yourself?" Old Master Tang’s tone was icy and hostile.
"Why should I bother explaining when you’re just twisting the truth?" Qin Long replied, his expression indifferent. He couldn’t care less what any of them thought, except for Tang Xuewu.
"Grandfather, actually—"
As Tang Xuewu began to speak, the old master cut her off with a wave of his hand.
"Yuxiang, how do you want to handle this?" Old Master Tang asked, completely ignoring Tang Xuewu and looking at his grandson with a kind, benevolent smile.
"Drive Qin Long out of the Tang Family," Tang Yuxiang said with a chilling tone. "So he won’t cause trouble and implicate us in the future."
"Exactly! I’m just a young woman in the prime of her youth. What if he..."
"WAAAH!"
With a theatrical sob, Tang Chuchu began fanning the flames.
Following her lead, most of the Tang family members began to chime in, their voices rising into a unified chant.
"Drive him out!"
"Drive him out!"
Seeing the scene before them, they knew Qin Long’s expulsion was inevitable. This was the perfect opportunity.
Even Zhang Meilan joined the shouting crowd, but Tang De held her back tightly.
"I can tolerate your unreasonable tantrums at home," Tang De hissed, his voice cold as he berated her. "But if you dare make a scene today, we are getting a divorce tomorrow!"
"Tang De, how dare you!" Zhang Meilan shouted before falling silent.
"Grandfather, you see? This is what everyone wants," Tang Yuxiang said, gesturing to the crowd as he looked at the old master respectfully. "Please, hurry and get rid of him."
Old Master Tang slammed his hand on the table and glared coldly at Qin Long.
"Grandfather, please don’t drive him away! He’ll starve to death without me!" Tang Xuewu’s face was streaked with tears. She never imagined her own aunts and uncles could be so ruthless toward Qin Long. "Treating him like this is no different from murder!"
"I don’t care if he lives or dies," Old Master Tang said, his gaze flat and indifferent.
"Grandfather, you...!" Tang Xuewu looked crestfallen, utterly disheartened. "I was bound to him three years ago. If he goes, I go. If he stays, I stay."
At her words, the Tang family members stared, their jaws dropping in astonishment.
"Xuewu! What nonsense are you spouting?!" Zhang Meilan shrieked, slamming her hands on the table.
The Tang family had neglected them for years, but it was still a third-rate family in Jiangzhong. She was unwilling to give up the security of this large tree.
"You foolish girl! You’ve disappointed me immensely!" Old Master Tang shook his head, his eyes filled with disappointment as he looked at Tang Xuewu.
Moved, Qin Long gently squeezed Tang Xuewu’s hand. Her kindness toward him was being deeply etched into his heart.
"Tang Xuewu, you said it yourself, so don’t you dare regret it!" Tang Chuchu said, feigning anger while inwardly jumping for joy.
"Sister Xuewu, how can you abandon us for this cripple!" Tang Yuxiang yelled, pretending to be heartbroken.
"After three years of caring for him, A’Long has become my family," Tang Xuewu cried hysterically, stepping protectively in front of Qin Long. "By treating him like this, you haven’t considered my feelings at all!"
"What a filial granddaughter!" Old Master Tang’s eyes bulged as he pointed his cane at her, huffing with rage. "Tang Xuewu, I’ll give you one last chance. Are you truly determined to defend this cripple, even if it means abandoning the Tang Family?"
Tang Xuewu closed her eyes for a moment as tears streamed down her cheeks.
The Tang Family is her home. Grandfather treated her so well when she was a child, didn’t he? But she couldn’t just stand by and watch Qin Long be sent to his death.
Taking a deep breath, she gently took Qin Long’s hand, her tears falling like rain.
"The Tang family lives in luxury, never worrying about food or clothing," she said, looking tenderly at Qin Long before scanning the room. "None of you lack for anything. In this entire family, I’m the only one who truly cares for him. For the Tang Family, losing one Tang Xuewu is a small matter. But A’Long has trouble getting around. How can he survive without me?"
The Tang family members were all dumbfounded.
Even Qin Long was shaken to his core, his body beginning to tremble.
He was the Heavenly Dragon, Commander of the Heavenly Dragon Army and first among the four War Venerables, a man at the pinnacle of power and wealth. He had once battled forty-nine enemy martial arts grandmasters single-handedly, defeating and slaying every one of them. He had taken a bullet to the chest without uttering a single sound.
Yet, at this moment, he wept like a child in this woman’s arms, tears streaming down his weathered face.
From this day forward, his heart held a new anchor, a new warmth. He had been ambushed by his senior martial brother and left in a daze for three years. His Heavenly Dragon Army was gone, his immense authority a thing of the past. He had once thought of taking revenge on this cruel world.
But it was this fiancée, whom he had never met before, who had warmed his cold heart.
And now, this girl was willing to protect him to the death.
