"Was that really necessary?"

Ayana asked as soon as they were out of sight. Her gaze darted around the hallway lined with multiple doors before landing on the casually whistling young master, who clearly understood the blunder he had just made in the banquet hall.

"Of course!" Matt spun around to face her, his grin wide and unapologetic. "I can only imagine how twisted my dear cousin’s face must look right now." He snickered mischievously, turning back to walk ahead with both hands shoved into his pockets.

’’You’re taunting her.’’ Ayana inwardly shook her head at his antics. ’’Aren’t you afraid she would retaliate?’’

’’Pfft!’’ Matt laughed as though her words were hilarious. ’’She won’t have time to retaliate when she will be struggling to save herself.’’ He tilted his head back at her with a knowing smirk.

’’.....’’ Well, Ayana couldn’t deny that. This birthday banquet was going to be an unforgettable, according to his words.

In her past life too, she hadn’t heard of the Young miss Easmond ever again after her downfall. The latter had probably spent her youthful years repenting in prison. The same was going to happen in this life again.

At this point, she did not know if she pitied the young miss for having a two-faced like Matt as her cousin or think if the latter deserved such an ending.

’’Your questions are weird though, sister-in-law.’’ Matt let out a small sigh. ’’I mentioned your fiancé to taunt another woman, yet you aren’t even getting angry.’’

’’You didn’t mention his name.’’

’’It doesn’t change that he was undoubtedly mentioned.’’ Matt argued right back.

’’Hmph!’’ Matt snorted dramatically, the dissatisfaction evident in his tone. ’’If the both of you don’t lock lips tonight, then I’m gonna to kidnap you and him and lock you up in a room together until you do the deed!’’ He talked as if there was no going back.

Confusion flashed across Ayana’s features for a moment until her eyes widened in realization and her cheeks reddened a bit without a retort.

Even if she was older mentally, it did not change that she was a virgin at heart. The most intimate she had been in her past life was only a peck.

’’...What do you mean by tonight?’’ Ayana’s face quickly calmed down as she realized that Matt mentioned the word ’tonight.’

’’Why don’t you see for yourself, sister-in-law?’’ He slowly opened the door in a mysterious manner.

Ayana eyed at him suspiciously before deciding to go along with his shenanigans. Matt wasn’t one to go overboard with his playful pranks, anyway.

’’Don’t forget our deal, sister-in-law. You must either lock lips or do the deed before leaving here.’’ Just as she stepped inside, Matt said his wishful reminder before shutting the door.

Ayana heard an immediate click before she could retort back.

He was with a key? Ayana realized in a wonder.

’I left my purse in the car.’ She pursed her lips, knowing that this was a good time to use her phone. When she leaves this room eventually, she was going to give Matt a good smack.

’’You’ve arrived.’’ The sudden voice almost made Ayana jump on the spot. Her heart raced faster as she realized someone was in the room with her.

Ayana spun around in haste to see the person.

And...there he was, standing outside the balcony and staring at her startled gaze deeply.

His hair was perfectly slicked back, as always, and his tailored suit emphasized his tall figure.

’’You...’’ Ayana struggled to find her words. ’’What are you doing here?’’

She did not expect to see her fiancée.
