HEIRESS REBORN: MARRYING HER EX-FIANCÉ-Chapter 71: The Dark Alley (1)
’’You should let go of your naïve thinking, father.’’ Matt understood his father’s thoughts better than anyone. The man was unwilling to admit to the truth sometimes.
’’Times have always change and People are the same. No one stays the same forever, father. It will do you best to understand that.’’ He told his father.
’’...’’
The father and son held each other’s gaze; both equally stubborn to let go, until Steven was the first to surrender between them.
’’Alright then.’’ He agreed with a defeated sigh. ’’I still am not in favor of your actions, but I can’t overlook the opportunity you presented to me, Son.’’
His niece was not suitable to lead the family business. He could only step up and take control until his son was ready to take over from him
He looked up at Matt. ’’Don’t be like your cousin and take shortcuts from the support of the Old madam. You should know that I won’t bother to help you.’’
His half-brother’s daughter was indeed a good seedling to become a good doctor. If only she was under good guidance, she wouldn’t have fallen this low.
Matt chuckled slightly at those words. ’’Yes father.’’
He had never needed father’s help anyway. Besides, it was more fun to take on challenges than to suffer in boredom.
’’Hmm.’’ Steven hummed, pleased with the response. ’’Your mother must be worried that we might have fought again.’’ He could already imagine the image of his wife fretting about them outside.
’’It was a necessary talk, father.’’ Matt shrugged his shoulders casually.
’’Yes, it was.’’ Steven agreed and then recalled something else. ’’That reminds me, Son. I have a question and you must answer truthfully.’’ He looked so serious that Matt furrowed his brows in confusion.
’’What is it, father?’’ He hadn’t done anything else that was wrong in his father’s dictionary, had he?
’’The Young miss of the Kingston family, are the two of you in a relationship according to the rumors?’’ His father asked, carefully.
’’.....’’
Matt almost collapsed on the spot.
Did father want his best friend to murder him?

July, a very eventful month eventually passed by and the summer deepened in the first week of august. The sun was scorching like fire and temperature became very high.
’’Good evening, I am Maya Blake with Channels 175 news.’’ In the black SUV sat Ayana on her way from the Kingston corporation as usual. As the vehicle drove down the busy road, she was watching news on her phone with the catchy headlines: BREAKING NEWS, RISING LITERARY FIGURE FREYA EASMOND HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH PLAGIARISM.
’’In a shocking turn of events today, rising literary figure Freya Easmond—known for her high intelligence in research and the medical field—has been formally filed against in court, facing allegations of plagiarism alongside several other crimes." The newsperson, Maya Blake reported on the video.
The screen then transitioned to footage outside the courthouse with Maya’s voiceover. ’’Hailed from a reputed medical family, Miss Easmond has been claimed to be a one-in-a-lifetime genius.’’ Swarm of reporters, cameras flashing wildly, and a sea of microphones thrusted forward. Amid the chaos, was the topic of the news, Freya Easmond, emerged quickly from a black SUV, wearing oversized sunglasses and a plain casual clothes. Her face was set in an unreadable expression, though the corners of her lips seemed tense.
’’The lawsuit was filed early this morning alleging.....’’
’It’s the same.’ Ayana did not need to watch anymore and swiftly turned off the news. It was something she had listened to in her past life anyway.
Matt should very busy by now with court case, and his family business.
’Should I send a congratulations gift?’ Ayana wondered, thinking if it was appropriate to celebrate one’s downfall.
In this situation, it was a good one for Matt, but a terrible one his cousin.
’’Ma’am, we’ve arrived.’’ Her assistant, Lisa alerted her from the front seat and Ayana turned to the window and indeed saw her destination.
’’Remain here, Lisa.’’ She ordered her assistant to wait in the vehicle and smoothly stepped out without assistance.
Ayana shut the door and walked further inside the dark alley in her usual work suits. That’s right. Her destination was a dark alley. The vehicle was parked by the entrance of the dark alley of an abandoned old neighborhood. She had scheduled to meet the head bodyguard, Sam by 5:30 in the evening.
’’Welcome, young miss.’’ Sam first greeted her at the entrance and Ayana nodded slightly in response before he led her deeper into the dark alley.
Ayana glanced briefly at the cracked walls as she stepped past of small puddles of murky water. The air was heavy with dampness and a rotten smell.
’’Who’s your employer, huh?! I can pay a higher salary if you let me go and work for me!’’ Her ears twitched at the voice yelling from ahead.
’’.....’’
’’He’s been like that since we arrived 30minutes ago.’’ Sam said, seeming apologetic yet slightly embarrassed.
Ayana remained silence until she got to the group of the bodyguards, standing vigilantly with someone kneeling under their watch.
’’Huh?’’ The person blanked out at her arrival before a sneer appeared on his lips. ’’Ha! I should have guessed that it was you. Didn’t expect the President Kingston to resort unlawful violence.’’ He mocked, his gaze sweeping over her body with his fleeting desire.
’’.....’’
’’What? Cat got your tongue?’’ He smirked with a flirty wink and got more brazen at her silence. ’’I wonder how your new followers will react when they see that their President Kingston had kidnapped an innocent victim? Even if I go prison today, you will come and meet me soon, darling. I can bribe the guards to put us in the same cell for one night and I’ll f*ck the hell out of you and ruin your life the same way you did to mine!’’ He stared fiercely at her with venom dripping from his obscene words.
’’.....’’
Regardless of that, Ayana only met his gaze head-on in silence.
’’You bastard!’’ On the other hand, Sam could not hold his anger and immediately went in for another round of beatings. It was easier for him since he was literally behind the disgusting man.
How dare he have indecent thoughts on their Young miss Kingston?
Ayana did not bother stop the violence from her bodyguards, and watched silently as the man’s face swelled up black and blue with bruises.
This scoundrel and son of a bitch was the son of the Shameless former shareholder Mcclain.
A disgusting flirt who had shamelessly pursued her during her younger days at the Kingston corporation.
